Ungrateful Bastarding Bastards

OH belongs to an activity club.
They're having a Bar-B-Que tomorrow. (Ticketed to raise money)

I was asked last night at 17:30 if I could make a 'few' cakes as dessert…oh and there's 80 expected.

I have spent all day, got up at 6 on my day off, making cakes.

I've made Orange Chocolate Brownies, red Velvet cupcakes, old fashioned butterfly cakes and chocolate cornflake cakes for the little ones. At the minute in the oven are coffee and walnut cakes.

OH has been out doing activity since last night. Is currently helping set up for tomorrow.

Has just called to say not to bother with cakes as they've been to Costco and grabbed 4 of their big cakes…

So my AIBU
Am I being unreasonable to tell them all to fuck off and never ever bake for the bunch of thoughtless bastards ever again.

Am I being unreasonable to let rip on OH for not letting me know earlier? I mean I've spent all fucking day on this.

Am I being unreasonable to open the very posh expensive vodka?

Bastarding bastards

I'd lock him out and make him sleep in the shed!

thenightsky · 09/08/2014 21:24

Just seen your gluten-free update.

Take your cakes and label them REALLY BLOODY HUGELY as gluten free.

MrsHummels · 09/08/2014 21:32

...or just bring them over to me, dh and I are really grateful for edible gluten free stuff I didn't have to bake. Where exactly are you? Wink

Honestly, live and learn. Have more wine!

ninetynineonehundred · 09/08/2014 21:34

Can we not all come round tomorrow for a mn coffee /cake morning to raise money? I love cornflake cakes. In fact why don't we try to raise more money than them as proof of how wonderful your cakes are.
And you are nbu. Glad your dh is on your side.

AnnieLobeseder · 10/08/2014 17:43

What happened today, OP? Any sign of guilt or apology from the offending parties? Did the entire BBQ get washed away in the detritus of Hurricane Bertha?

blanklook · 10/08/2014 18:39

For you OP Flowers Gin [more gin] [and a bit more gin]

You are now in the ideal position to say the one-word sentence NO to the club at any time in the future for any subsequent requests for your help. Enjoy it when you do

HappyAgainOneDay · 10/08/2014 20:02

I was going to suggest that you freeze them for next year but Cheeky got in first.

nicename · 11/08/2014 17:50

oh no, you can't freeze cake. You need to eat it all.

CheeseToastie123 · 11/08/2014 17:56

I want cake. Stupid Slimming World.

MooMaid · 11/08/2014 18:23

I'd be seething, bless you. All that time and effort! Makes you wonder why you bother sometimes.

On another note I'd love to try some homemade cake and lick the mixture bowl only I can't - pregnant

mustbetimeforacreamtea · 11/08/2014 18:39

Moo - why on earth are you avoiding cake mix? How many people have you ever heard being ill as a result of eating it? (sorry - rant over- as you were)

WellnowImFucked · 11/08/2014 18:51

No guilt or apologies.

It's appears as though I have been caught in entertainment committee politics. Oh the thrill…

OP posts:
ithoughtofitfirst · 11/08/2014 19:29

Oh my god you get to eat loads of cake.

OrangeMochaFrappucino · 11/08/2014 19:31

Moo if the eggs are lion-stamped then the hens have been vaccinated against salmonella so you can lick the bowl to your heart's content.

OP, I can't comment on the situation because I can't get past the description of the delicious cake and how much I want to eat it all.

Sparklypants · 11/08/2014 19:57

I haven't eaten today yet and now all I want is cake Sad

It kinda sucks to be me right now.

McFlickle · 11/08/2014 20:50

Sorry my jaw literally just dropped when I read that. YANBU!

MooMaid · 11/08/2014 21:08

Oooh can you? Everything just says no to raw egg! (sorry don't want to derail thread but cake mix is important!)

Darkesteyes · 11/08/2014 22:03

I also want cake. I also on stupid Slimming World. DH left a small sliver of sainsburys victoria sponge and ive just binned it so i wouldnt be tempted.

They refused your scrummy cakes for Costco Shock

I was salivating just reading the OP.

BoiledPiss · 11/08/2014 22:07

Fucking rude fuckers... Similar thing happened to me once and I spat my dummy royally, rude rude rude fuckers...

I am Angry on your behalf!

Pipbin · 11/08/2014 22:17

I had a Costco cupcake the other day and it was so grim I threw half if it away.

OrangeMochaFrappucino · 12/08/2014 07:35

Moo, official guidelines do say no raw egg due to the risk of salmonella. This is a tiny risk if you have eggs from vaccinated hens. Also, salmonella isn't actually a risk to the baby, it's just a horrible illness that would be worse if you were pregnant. I chose to eat runny eggs (and cake mix), I also drank a glass of wine here and there. It's up to you to weigh up the guidelines yourself, I won't order you through the internet to scoff cake mix - but I think it's fine for you to do so!

OP, if cake is being used as a political weapon, surely the side enlisting Costco are going to lose in the face of your amazing sounding homemade creations?

Also, it would have taken me all day to make them too!
