Everyone I know's kids seem to have these 'crocs' I just don't get them are they a modern sandal or a cross between wellies and sandals???

And what is the funny stuff inside!!

I feel peer pressure to purchase the DC their very own 'crocs' but need to understand them first!!! ( also they are not cheap!!)

They are just lightweight, foam shoes (clog style). You can wash them.

I think they are vile but lots like them.

vestandknickers · 05/08/2014 17:31

They are great. Quick to get on and off. Nice thick soles that protect the soles of the feet and they stay on well so kids can run in them unlike flip flops. My kids love them. The cheap versions from the supermarkets are pretty good too.

ArabellaTarantella · 05/08/2014 17:32

They are the most comfortable shoe on the planet!

LynetteScavo · 05/08/2014 17:33

Seriously? Are you in the UK?

All you need to know is they are comfy, and great for kids in the summer. Don't get yourself a pair and wear them into town. They are for beach/garden wear only if you are an adult.

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 05/08/2014 17:34

I'd go for the cheap looky-likey type too. Actual Crocs are v v expensivo.

I think they are vile too, but I have a pair for gardening in and they are indeed very comfy.

DogCalledRudis · 05/08/2014 17:34

Love crocks. Very comfy, only downsides are that they're very slippery and feet get smelly in them

NickiFury · 05/08/2014 17:35

They're fab for kids. Don't rub, can go in the water with them on, easy to clean, best summer sandal IMO.

Eastpoint · 05/08/2014 17:36

My DCs loved them when they were 4-10. Comfortable, it didn't matter if they went in the sea with them or it rained, easy to take on or off & they loved being able to personalize them with the little studs. They're comfortable on stony British beaches.

bronya · 05/08/2014 17:36

They are very good when potty training (tip the wee out, babywipe the inside clean!), on the beach or anywhere it's wet.

merrydebs · 05/08/2014 17:36

Not the most attractive shoe on the planet either!

ilovepowerhoop · 05/08/2014 17:36

dd has been living in fake crocs this summer. They are comfy and easy to get on and off and let air flow through. I dont know what you mean by funny stuff though

ilovepowerhoop · 05/08/2014 17:38

p.s. dd got hers from Brantano for about £8. Sports Direct sell them too. (dd's are copies, dont know which ones Sports Direct sells)

TheNumberfaker · 05/08/2014 17:43

They are fab for summer. In and out of the sea no problem. They can be washed out. Kids have mockcrocs, mine are the real thing but only a tenner from TK Maxx. I couldn't give a monkey's what they look like!

Wigglykitten · 05/08/2014 17:43

I love mine. They are really comfy with nice thick soles, and are super-quick to slip on and off. I use mine in the garden and when I go camping, and even keep them on in the showers there so I don't have to put my feet on the floor. I don't wear them in public though, the furthest I normally would go in them is the corner shop, although I did once wear them to Alton Towers as I had scalded my feet (ouch) and they were the only shoes I could wear. It was like walking on a cloud all day! My ds has worn them since he was very small, and they are great for the garden, beach, wading in rivers etc etc. The cheap versions are just as good as the full price ones.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 05/08/2014 17:44

A cross between leaky wellies and sandals is a very good way of putting it.

They are the perfect footwear for what many DCs do in summer. They go up to the trampoline on a dewy morning, they stop protect your toes when having a water fight with your DF.

They are perfect beach or paddling in the river shoes - they even float. They are really quick to take on and off.

But and this is the really important bit, they are comfortable, practical (and when new) grippy. My two marched miles and miles round Disney without a blister. They climbed every park they ever spotted without falling off.

My, now 16 year old has been living in hers because she's broken her toe and her smart shoes hurt.

They may look daft, but they are the perfect campsite slippers for all ages. I use them as slippers because we have freezing quarry tiles in the kitchen and wet grass between me the garage freezer and the washing line.

Chippednailvarnish · 05/08/2014 17:47

I wouldn't be seen dead in them.

My Dc's however aren't allowed in the garden unless they are wearing them.

Lally112 · 05/08/2014 17:47

They are amazing, get some yourself. They are cheap (sports direct), comfortable, easy to keep clean and slip on and off.

flashheartscanoe · 05/08/2014 17:47

they are wellies for the summer.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 05/08/2014 17:49

Oh and my fashion conscious 13y refuses to let me get her anymore, but mine keep appearing on her feet!

Elderflowergranita · 05/08/2014 17:52

DH has a luminous green pair Hmm.

DS1 says the holes in them are for your dignity to seep through Grin.

NewtRipley · 05/08/2014 17:54

They are really useful for camping, going on the beach, slipping on and off to go outside and play. They are no serious shoes

BTW, where have you been? Crocs have been around for years

IShallCallYouSquishy · 05/08/2014 17:54

Elderflower I came on this thread to say exactly that Grin

ToffeeMoon · 05/08/2014 17:55

The problem is they are weirdly double sized. So there is always a period inbetween sizes. Just when they're getting a bit snug and you think about going up a size you realise you can't because the next size up is huge

BikeRunSki · 05/08/2014 17:55

Great for popping on to pop out
On the beach
In the garden
For swollen feet in late pg/post natally/broken foot
Paddling
Rock pooling
Camping
As slippers
Potty training
For young dc to put on by themselves
