Everyone I know's kids seem to have these 'crocs' I just don't get them are they a modern sandal or a cross between wellies and sandals???

And what is the funny stuff inside!!

I feel peer pressure to purchase the DC their very own 'crocs' but need to understand them first!!! ( also they are not cheap!!)

DH and me both have them. We use them as slippers/garden shoes and as beach/pool shoes when on holiday. We are quite old, though (50s/60s) so put comfort over fashion.

I think they were designed for hospital staff to wear as they are have anti-bacterial properties. Once forgot to take mine on holiday and bought a cheap copycat pair - bad idea - they were rubbish. Plastic was far too hard.

My 3 daughters have worn them all summer - the 3 pound jobs. As everyone else has said they're great off the beach, running, walking distances, using at the swimming pool when getting changed, they can ride their bikes with them unlike flip flops, they're great for splash pools etc. My 2 younger ones can't wear flip flops "they're so uncomfy".

They are very comfortable if you have fat, square feet (like me). They are great for festivals as you can wash the mud off through the holes.

You should not attempt to drive in them especially not in a petrol station where slipping on the accelerator could take out a petrol pump

Mine are bright pink and I love them.

They are the best summer shoes for kids. Washable, incredibly comfy and easy to slip on and off. The only sandals my kids have ever had that don't rub. Don't get fakes though ( not for snob reasons but because they rub)

I could never bring myself to put ds in a pair. They are vile in my humble opinion!

They're brilliant for young children, easy to slip on/off and they bung in the washing machine and come out like new.

Fabulous! I just wish they made ones that look like proper shoes for school.

They're fugly but fab - for young DC. All the reasons already mentioned, plus the fact that when your DC try to draw on their shoes with felt tip, it doesn't stick to crocs - unlike their very expensive brand new Ecco and Geox trainers.

I'd second/third buying 'real' crocs though, the only time we didn't my DD's feet blistered so badly :-( She does have very sensitive skin - crocs are the only shoes we've found that she can wear without socks.

I hate how they look but....
They are great for the beach - comfy over stony sand down to the sea and then can be worn in the sea if you want.
DD and DS wear theirs in the garden - they can scoot in them and ride bikes too.
In fact DD wore hers most of last summer because of sensory issues. They were the only things I could get her to put on her feet.
DH and I have a pair each for beach wear - we tend to holiday on the West Coast of Scotland and they are fab for our favourite beach which has quite a stony section down to the sea.
I wouldn't wear mine in public mind... I save my Birkies for that!

Crocs are AMAZING!!! I say that as a carer who has suffered with Sciatica when I come in from being out I wear them as slippers and they have stopped the Sciatica and kept it at bay for @ 4 years now...I have the real Crocs in trainers and the fake ones for indoors (that only close family and neighbours see). The Sciatic nerve goes all the way down the spine and down the legs too and anyone who has suffered will know how painful it is! When walking on hard surfaces (incl wooden floors at home) that can make the condition worse because it impacts up the nerve, the Crocs give you a 'cushioned' base when walking so doesn't 'impact' on the nerve as much. When worn as slippers with painkillers they stop the Sciatica and/or make it more manageable....I can't praise them enough.Smile.

I'd never ever wear then as an adult but my 2 year old and 5 year old have them. They are excellent for shoving on/off for the garden/beach. My 2 year old puts them on and off himself which is v handy.

DD had some cheapo ones which were fine, and now fit DS. I got her some proper crocs and every time she wears them she gets blisters on both feet :(

They are amazingly comfortable, but I wouldn't wear them in public as such. I want to, but I think I would be judged harshly. I bought mine for when we are on holiday in our touring caravan as they are great for trudging to the loos through wet grass. I sometimes iron in them too. Did I mention that they were comfy?

Love crocs. Wipe clean, doesn't matter where you're going. Like a wellie for warmer weather! Protects the foot better than sandals, easy to wash so no summer smelliness. Not expensive when you consider that they'll be great condition at the end of the summer (though I suppose not so true for growing feet). They mould around your feet over time, so they get comfier and comfier! Plus, you can actually get little flowers and ladybirds to fill up the holes with - my daughter and her friends love mine!

Downsides: They're no longer cool and they don't look glamorous. Not much fun if it's raining. If it's seriously hot they're too hot (but they do flip flops!). You MUST mark your children's names on them because one croc looks much like another. Some people feel they're sloppy and unsupportive for feet though this has improved with the wider range (and just look at how unsupportive sandals are). Until you get used to them, it's quite easy to stumble in them.

I love my crocs but only for around the house/ garden or camping/ beach. Only gone out in them occasionally, by accident. They are VERY comfortable. As soon as I get home I search for them. Kids wear them all the time - cheap and comfy. Bought a pair for DH who poo pooed them at first but now goes mad if he can't find them when he gets in. Yes, they're ugly but I don't care!

OK, I agree that the closed in ones with holes are really ugly, but not all crocs look like that.

Do people still wear crocs? They are considered 5 years out of date around where I am.
