AIBU?

To think we need a Dadsnet?

So dads cannot be single parents? There's a nansnet and mums net but no Dadsnet. Yes there's a single topic for it, but surely dads should be able to have their own site?

We have a vibrant Dadsnet section on here that's pulsating with manly talk and discussion. Have a look if you think you can handle the pace.

You'll generally find that if a man wants to know something he'll either ask another man or go to a specific website/forum if it's practical in nature....

He's very unlikely to need a place to post "My bestest friend invited me to a wedding, but not my wife - should I hate him forever??"

Lol at WatchingSeaMonkeys Grin

That's exactly it for me. There are many specialist sites for practical "things", but fewer sites for the wooly "feelings" type questions. Mn is great at both the practical stuff, and great entertainment for the eavesdropping and gossip (kind of like overhearing conversations at the school gates)

That's why I like it; I think a dadsnet would never get that dynamic.

I like it here because its general tone and intent is of one of kindness.

There's little of that at work, Macho bullshitting and gallows humour, along with Lemon Drizzle sweariness, but not much compassion. The sexism is pretty Jurassic, which is hardly surprising when we have a male/female ratio over 95%.

What's lemon drizzle sweariness? I think I like the sound of it.

WatchingSeaMonkeys: Of course, but compared to some HGV forums and FB groups, where racist bollocks and knuckledragging is de rigueur...

Bifauxnen: The Lemon Drizzle threads were a magnificent festival of bosom hoiking and pearl clutching, and contained a post by the OP which included "Fuck you, lemon drizzle murderer, fuck you up the bum". Also "go and piss on a hotplate and boil your @#$&€!".
