Such as: [Photo's included someone's name, so the OP asked MNHQ to remove them, which we've done]

I know we can't all live in palaces btw, but would it hurt to empty the ashtray?

I wont post the sofa one which includes a bloke sitting on it :)

ha ha - yes - it's bizarre - one bloke was asking if anyone knew how to fix his sky box so he got free channels.......errrmmm, why not just post asking for a crow bar and housebreaking advice!

myotherusernameisbetter · 25/07/2014 23:32

Ah - just noticed you can make out the sellers name on the photo - didn't see that - I'll ask for them to be deleted.

I love it when people say 'free to any

IWokeUpLikeThis · 25/07/2014 23:39

Grr stupid iPhone
'Free to anyone who can pick up'
Someone comments saying I'll have it , then op says great l, what time? Pick up from so and so
And they reply 'lol I don't drive can you drop it off'
Hmm

myotherusernameisbetter · 25/07/2014 23:41

yup, or you look at the free thing and think you are just wanting someone to shift that out your house to save you putting it out to the bin :)

OP posts:
myotherusernameisbetter · 25/07/2014 23:44

or the ones where someone says, "looking for a fridge freezer, must be in good condition, working and free - also need it delivered" that's well hopeful - I am always on the lookout for people who want major appliances for free and for me to deliver it to them as well.....

OP posts:
JudysPriest · 25/07/2014 23:51

No one ever asks nicely. Like 'How much would you want for it?' Or 'I'd pay £20 if that's okay'.

Just:
Price
How Much

I offered a pool table for free.

The responses were awful. Not one please, thank you. Just 'I'll have it'. (Will you now?!) and people wanting me to deliver it.

IsChippyMintonExDirectory · 25/07/2014 23:51

My last neighbour was selling her used bras on Facebook. BRAS!!!
Also laugh at "bag of girls clothes age 2-3 £20". No pictures or idea of what's in the bag. Fucks me off when people put no effort in, do they really think that's gonna sell?!

HarrietSchulenberg · 25/07/2014 23:52

I love the Wanteds that people put on Freegle/Freecycle. My local one has had...
"Wanted: 10 man tent and full camping gear."
"Wanted: roofbox and tow bar for 07 reg Landrover." This was in 2008.
"Wanted: caravan. Must be newer than 10 years".
"Wanted: solid pine furniture. Must be in good nick.
"Wanted: digital SLR camera for daughter's college course".
Basically, please give me your valuables for nothing as I am too fucking tight fisted to pay for them.

My local FB selling site seems to be solely for size 8 women into dayglo bodycon gear.

myotherusernameisbetter · 25/07/2014 23:53

tbf most of the interactions I have had have been fine .....but I am very selective in which sites I use now. the pictures posted were from one that I was encouraged to join but seems to be populated by some real weirdos.

myotherusernameisbetter · 25/07/2014 23:57

I also always click on the profiles of people looking for free stuff as they "have just got their first house after being homeless". I am sure there are a lot of genuine ones, but if I was in their position, I think I'd delete or hide the profile pictures of them making obscene gestures with bottles of alcohol in hand or the posts about drugs....

Slight derailing I'm a member of a popular frugal tips FB site and nearly every day there's a poorly worded fight over the most stupid of things. What's the deal?

YourKidsYourRulesHunXxx · 25/07/2014 23:58

I am watching this thread with interest as it looks as though its shaping up to be a right laugh Grin I'll go and hunt my local swap thread for any tidbits.

myotherusernameisbetter · 25/07/2014 23:58

Hmmm - can't say I have ever been in the market for used underwear. :o

I'd forgotten about Freegle and some of the requests on there - I wonder how much success they have.

My local one is great for a laugh but I agree that no one is ever polite.
Recently there was someone asking for a baby walker 'must be suitable for a girl'
Reply: 'I've got a green one hun, you can have it for a tenner"
Buyer 'uhhhh, I said for a girl!!!!!!!'

We also have one that is supposedly for my particular part of town (I live in a big town) and the idea was that we could sell and buy to people who could collect easily. A guy from the other side of town keeps advertising his things and when asked says he won't deliver (fair enough). I'm so tempted to point out that technically he doesn't fit into the group!

OohQuack · 26/07/2014 00:00

I love them! I love the conflict that inevitably arrises in some posts and I love waiting for the 'will u deliver' responses. I saw some really old worn baby shoes the other day, she was asking for a tenner fgs. Stuff I have bought or sold on them have taken me to the most dodgy places I've ever been

myotherusernameisbetter · 26/07/2014 00:01

Someone just posted "Anyone selling pink stuff for a baby?"

What, like blancmange?

I'd also be a bit worried that they were wanting to sell their baby, you never know who might buy it.

Just found someone selling 2nd hand homemade bras in one of my local ones!
I sometimes ask if people can deliver, politely though, as I don't drive and depending on what/where the item is public transport isn't always possible. I'd offer to pay petrol costs though

myotherusernameisbetter · 26/07/2014 00:10

I don't think people are bothered about people asking politely if delivery is possible Ineed it's when people are cheeky or if the seller has specifically said it needs to be collected, possibly because they are in the same boat as you :)

MrsMargoLeadbetter · 26/07/2014 00:13

On my local one nearly every other post has no price mentioned. So the poor admin picks them up and so they then post it.

I always think even if you are new to the group, wouldn't you look at previous posts for the style/rules?

Or are they just hoping that someone silly will come along and offer a lot of money before the admin picks them up on it...Hmm

HarrietSchulenberg · 26/07/2014 00:16

I advertised a fishtank a few months ago. Absolute bargain, about £100 worth of tank, filters, pump, tapsafe, ornaments, food, net etc. for just £20. Desperately needed the space.

Cheeky fucker wrote, "I'll have it for a tenner. Can u deliver it at 11 on Sat? Have pm'd u address". Address was obscure estate in shitty town 30 miles away!

I replied, "No" and blocked him.

IneedAwittierNickname · 26/07/2014 00:16

That's reassuring myother. And I know what you mean. I always post as collection only and then get "just can't drive can you arrange something" hmm no. You arrange it!

YourKidsYourRulesHunXxx · 26/07/2014 00:17

Yeah, sure. You bought them for a friend...
