I saw one the other day where a woman was offering a large children's rug for free, but it had to be collected the same day or would be going in a skip as she was moving house that afternoon.

Cue response from a woman saying she wanted it but could it be delivered as she had kids and didn't drive.

The woman is offering it for FREE, she too has kids and is in the middle of moving house fgs!

IneedAwittierNickname · 26/07/2014 00:21

People are always selling those (and the lego land ones) locally needaholiday. Last year a spectacular argument broke our about it when a few people commented that they had been free. The general consensus between people I know is split between "good on the seller the buyer is still getting a bargain" and "cheeky fucker"

threepiecesuite · 26/07/2014 00:21

Lately, have seen a lot of this kind of thing:
"Thinking of getting rid of a load of kids clothes, will post pics if any interest? "

Seriously, laziest effort ever.

SilenceMeansTrouble · 26/07/2014 00:40

My favourite is the RRP of £16.99 new, this has been used to death but I want £16.98 plus £3,000 economy postage, come on and grab a bargain Hmm.

I did a car boot sale recently and the lady on the stall next to me was getting well shitty. She had an ancient, worn looking Tesco jacket up for sale, she wanted £10 for it as it had cost her £20. She couldn't understand why nothing was selling, apparently everyone just wanted to rip her off Confused.

Aeroflotgirl · 26/07/2014 01:08

The mentality of some. Yes I saw a few bags of really tatty toddler clothes some in view some in bin liners on the FB selling pages. The woman wanted £50 for them, only contact if you want to buy. Well hello people want to look at them first. I dont bother with those pages

YourKidsYourRulesHunXxx · 26/07/2014 01:49

People seem to think that people want to pay through the nose for their tatty shit. At a car boot a few months back, there was a child looking at what could only be described as a ropey, dirty naff mouse toy thing, probably about 15 years old by the looks of it. The woman wanted £6 for it! What a joke. Someone also wanted me to pay a tenner for one series of a DVD boxset, and wouldn't even budge on the price despite telling him it was an old series from the 90s and that CEX sell the other volumes for £3.50. It was also in substandard condition, as if kids has been using the discs as frisbees on a laminate floor. Needless to say, I didn't buy it.

After rifling through 'Buy Sell' pages on FB, I came across someone selling a top for £10, and it was an Atmosphere (Primark) label. These people make me sick, trying to profit by selling things with a low RRP at stupid prices.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 26/07/2014 02:17

I have a friend on my fb who posts requests almost daily I fight the urge to type "try argos" sometimes I'm successful, she also often sells stuff usually for more than she paid for it (from same site) and often more than it would currently cost new, I rarely even attempt to fight the urge to c&p a link to the item new from a shop showing it cheaper than she's asking.

ZenGardener · 26/07/2014 02:28

I was going to post about this as well. A friend of mine posts some real crap on the Freecycle page in our area like children's plimsols which are really tatty and worn. The other day she posted a plastic bag. She then keeps bumping the posts as no one shows any interest. She posts a lot of stained stuff too. I really want to post to just chuck it in the bin.

My favourite conversation the other day!

A: Free but pick up only
B: Where are you?
A: At home
B: lol!!

D0oinMeCleanin · 26/07/2014 02:35

I think some people don't get the value of things. My dad was telling me about how he was selling his TV earlier. It's 5/6 years old. 48inch, flatscreen (not plasma) He is expecting some fule to come pay £200+ for it.

I offered him £100. He was offended Hmm

He would rip off a stranger, but not me, he genuinely believes his TV is worth more than £200.

unrealhousewife · 26/07/2014 02:47

We used to have the rag n bone man for this kind of castoff. There are some right stingy buggers out there. It annoys me because most the good stuff is swamped by the piles of stinky old shoes and stained cardigans. It's just an online jumble sale but more hassle.

wishmynamewasdave · 26/07/2014 02:50

My favourite was the woman asking all the local selling sites for 'Chester Draws' Grin

ipswichwitch · 26/07/2014 06:27

I agree with people not knowing the value of things. I was selling our old Icandy pushchair, so I did a bit of research to see what people were selling them for, and advertised mine for similar. When it had sold for £200 (with carrycot and all accessories in mint condition too) I was well chuffed, but MIL was not impressed. She honestly believed I'd get £500 for it, even though it cost that brand new! She just kept saying "but it's lovely and almost brand new!"

londonrach · 26/07/2014 08:13

I offered a free washing up bowl once as I got a posh one (has a plug in it and its green and so pretty) and my old one was like new. Someone asked me to deliver which involve me driving down the a3 for 40 mins. I said no (in a roundabout way mention petrol and time) and suggest trip to local pound shop! They knew where I lived as we have to put it in description. Mind you on the off chance I asked if anyone had any old Mandy Judy etc hanging around as I'd lve to read them again. Guess what someone just contacted me. I'm picking up Monday. Guess wat I'm doing all next week when not workin..... Can't wait. Reliving my teenage years. Do you think I should leave her a box of chocolate or something?

londonrach · 26/07/2014 08:15

Please ignore all words with dropped letters. Why my ipad does this i don't know. Grin

doingitlikeaboss · 26/07/2014 08:39

I had a clear out of dd3 clothes and shoes, over 60 item's, dresses, jackets, jeans, outfits from next or local designer baby shop including a fendi jacket, £50 patent boots, 2 pairs of converse. I washed, ironed, cleaned everything and it was all as new some with tags. Took pitures and posted on my local Facebook selling page for FREE. I don't drive and stated that first to comment and come could have them. The amount of abuse I got from all those that didn't get the stuff was shocking!! Private mails calling me everything under the sun as if people were entitled to the stuff Confused

The lovely lady that did come had told me they were for her friend that was expecting a second baby and her partner had left her and she was genuinely struggling. I ended up giving the lady some of dds toys we were clearing out to all still immaculate. She did however sit it my house for 90 mins talking all about her life, showing me photos of her house, and her ebay buy for Christmas.

HavanaSlife · 26/07/2014 08:43

On the free site im on (fb) people have been warned to ask and reply nicely or they will be removed.

Im sick of saving stuff for people who then dont bother to show up though

londonrach · 26/07/2014 08:47

Havana likewise on my fb site.

askyfullofstars · 26/07/2014 09:02

Ive recently tried to use mine...its frustrating...
"x for sale £10 complete with pictures and good description"
"hm?"
"10"
"is it in good condition"
"yes you can see on the pics"
"hm did you buy it for"
"100"
next person comes along "hm hun?"
((bangs head on wall))

Prettykitty111 · 26/07/2014 09:15

I've stopped doing this as people are so entitled. I used freecycle a lot in my new house and everyone i got something from got a bottle of wine or box of chocolates as a thank you.

I advertised some stuff to go and one person turned up for one item and then proceeded to root around my garage emptying boxes saying "is this going" " can I have this" etc, no you cheeky fucker you didn't even say thank you for the thing i did give you.

I had washed a load of bedding, towels and kids clothes that I had bought cheaply or for free for a friend of mine who is down on his luck with three kids on his own and they emptied the whole box onto the dirty garage floor and said "can we take this its obviously going to charity shop" they didn't even HAVE kids.

Needless to say not a single person even said thanks with the last lot i listed.

CatKisser · 26/07/2014 09:22

There's a woman on my local FB sales group who's selling industrial sized packs of things like Bold laundry gel, washing up liquid, surface cleaner, bin liners, etc at brilliant prices. Being nosy, I looked at her page and noticed she works at a really fancy local county hotel.
So she's basically robbing their cleaning stock, isn't she? was tempted to send a screenshot to hotel but didn't

londonrach · 26/07/2014 09:46

Cat I'm shocked. I would as if she takes stock would she take items from the guests. You don't want someone like her cleaning your room....

CatKisser · 26/07/2014 09:49

I suppose that's correct, londonrach. At the time I decided not to as you don't know what desperate shit people are in....but no, I wouldn't want her cleaning my room. Not a chance.

ddubsgirl77 · 26/07/2014 09:53

Most of the ones im on have a no pet/live pets rule but yet the amount of posts of kittens puppies etc drives me nuts
