To be shocked at what I saw at a Toby Carvery?

I went to a Toby Carvery the other day. I had two types of meat, a Yorkshire pudding, veg and gravy. I had a good sized portion, ate it all and didn't feel the need to go up again. I'm quite smug that I know how much to put on my plate without wasting it.

However, I could see the gravy/sauce table from where I was sitting and saw a few very overweight young people, late teens/early 20's with 3 - yes 3 Yorkshire puddings on their plates, a mound of veg and ladling on bucketfuls of gravy.

Surely this is not normal and they were just greedy.

Our Toby used to be the quintessential carver, screaming kids running round, dried up veg, stingy chef dispensing not enough meat or yorkies, people overloading their plates - it was all just as it should be but now they've changed it in to an upmarket steak house Angry

Blacksox · 20/12/2016 07:52

I have only ever heard of Toby Carvery on here; I've never seen one in rl.

As you were.

Overthinker2016 · 20/12/2016 07:57

Are you the Yorkshire Pudding police?

OneMillionScovilles · 20/12/2016 07:57

🎼 What's in your head? / in your head? / Zombie, zombie, zombeh-heh-heh 😉

I love seeing my old posts on a zombie thread! Grin

MixedUpConfusion · 20/12/2016 09:16

I wondered why this had so many replies and I hadn't seen it before! Bloody Zombies

drinkingchanelno5 · 20/12/2016 09:53

Is one allowed to feel smug whilst in a Toby Carvery? Xmas Wink

SleepFreeZone · 20/12/2016 09:59

I've only been once and it was pretty gross seeing loads of gluttonous fools balancing a ton of food on their plate as they waddled back to their tables. Never again.

Sallystyle · 20/12/2016 10:04

....

Sallystyle · 20/12/2016 10:05

oh it didn't work

PickledCauliflower · 20/12/2016 10:11

If the plates were loaded with veg - can't see the harm. I wouldn't eat three Yorkshire puddings myself but only because I'm not a big fan :)
I know loads of people who love them.

Stormtreader · 20/12/2016 10:33

Poster in "Had big plate of food, ate all of it, then started judging other people on having a big plate of food" shocker. Grin

Rachel0Greep · 20/12/2016 10:55

The OP is probably recovered from the shock now, two and a half years later Grin...

Thornrose · 20/12/2016 10:57

12 Yorkshire puddings
11 roast potatoes
10 roasted parsnips
9 spoons of stuffing
8 piles of peas
7 buckets of gravy
6 mounds of cauli
5 TYPES of meeaaatt
4 scoops of mash
3 chipolatas
2 shovels of cabbage
And a goady, judgy fucker of a zombie thread. Xmas Grin

Temporaryname137 · 20/12/2016 10:58

Was it a zombie?

A great big, Yorkshire pudding eating zombie??

CaraAspen · 20/12/2016 11:02

OP:
You are quite right to feel you had self control. What you describe seeing is pure greed. Ugh

CaraAspen · 20/12/2016 11:03

Argh. Old dead thread.

Sigh

Peanutandphoenix · 20/12/2016 11:09

Sorry but what has the food on anyone else's plate got to do with you ya smug cow. Invade you'be forgotten a mountain of veg is a good thing so at least they are getting their 5 a day and unless your the food police keep your shitty little opinions to yourself.

QuimReaper · 20/12/2016 11:18

Why on earth was this bumped?

How did it even hit 15 pages in the first place?

CaraAspen · 20/12/2016 11:21

Because fat people were pigging out in public, again?

BastardGoDarkly · 20/12/2016 11:24

Grin Thornrose

Quim it seems 8589brian is the culprit. He's obviously googled Toby Carvery because apparently he "Ate a Toby yesterday and shat like a Viking today"

His is the first post since July. Hmm

QuimReaper · 20/12/2016 11:54

Interesting MN debut Confused
