To be shocked at what I saw at a Toby Carvery?

I went to a Toby Carvery the other day. I had two types of meat, a Yorkshire pudding, veg and gravy. I had a good sized portion, ate it all and didn't feel the need to go up again. I'm quite smug that I know how much to put on my plate without wasting it.

However, I could see the gravy/sauce table from where I was sitting and saw a few very overweight young people, late teens/early 20's with 3 - yes 3 Yorkshire puddings on their plates, a mound of veg and ladling on bucketfuls of gravy.

Surely this is not normal and they were just greedy.

I'm there!

(Don't let the knobhead wind-up merchants get to you, OhFFS.)

Chippednailvarnish · 20/07/2014 19:04

You know I find the judgyness of the OP so mis-placed.

If I have read their information right, three Toby Carvery yorkshire puddings are 522 calories. A Grande Starbucks Frappacino is 922 calories. If your going to get uppity about what people eat, surely you'd get more satisfaction stalking fat people slurping empty calories in Starbucks, than watching them eat proper meals?

I really want a roast dinner now. Never tried the Toby Carvery in town, not sure I'll bother though if you're only allowed ONE measly YP. Pointless, that is.

I have been feeling a bit low today but this post had me cracking up.
Not sure if it was ever meant to be a serious post or not but the replies are bloody hilarious. Thanks a bunch.

Yeah but they are like well massive fuzzpig.

Timeisawastin · 20/07/2014 19:08

We dip our Yorkshires in (more) batter and deep-fry them up here in Scotland.

Yes we do. Really.

Heathcliff27 · 20/07/2014 19:11

^^ Do we??? Scottish born and bred and I've never come across this......

pictish · 20/07/2014 19:11

It's (quite rightly) not socially acceptable to diss on coloured people or homosexuals any more, so it seems the haters focus on fat people and those on benefits, to satisfy their need to crush others in order to make themselves feel better.

There's a lot of prejudice against those two groups around at the moment.

People love a common enemy. Hmm

HaroldLloyd · 20/07/2014 19:12

Fuzz the YP will be as big as your actual head though.

I haven't seen deep fried Yorkshires here either. Surely it's not that common?

pictish · 20/07/2014 19:14

I don't...but clearly some people do. Sad.

Timeisawastin · 20/07/2014 19:16

Just feeding a stereotype :-)

thornrose · 20/07/2014 19:17

You smile sweetly and say "god those Yorkshire puddings look amazing, could I have 2 please?" they never say no! Grin

JennyOnTheBlocks · 20/07/2014 19:25

And my face, Time Grin

ICanSeeTheSun · 20/07/2014 19:27

Why do I keep coming back to this thread.

Well going to have freshly bought cherry pie and custard.

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 20/07/2014 19:33

In Yorkshire in the 1970/80s it was common to see a giant Yorkshire pudding with onion gravy as a starter.

And have you all seen the dessert section of the TC menu where you can get a dessert that is four yorkshires, ice cream, butterscotch sauce, popping candy, and chocolate and raspberry sauces.

That little lot would keep the Yorkshire pudding fans happy Grin.

fanoftheinvisibleman · 20/07/2014 19:38

Yes, I grew up on the yorkie diet...with gravy to start, one on your dinner and leftovers with jam for pudding Grin

LEMmingaround · 20/07/2014 19:41

I wonder how many people had a carvery today based on this thread? I would have but we are skint. Was so tempted though.

Have never had toby carvery though. The local carvery is another company. Its £3.95 and varies between delicious and vile.

Goldenyellow · 20/07/2014 19:43

Looking at it makes me feel sick

ICanSeeTheSun · 20/07/2014 19:43

Lem not me I am skint till pay day but even then I will not be able to manage the plate and crutches

pictish · 20/07/2014 19:44

LEM ha ha me too! If we had a penny piece to our name today, I'd have whisked the lot of us off for a Toby. Grin

Fairylea · 20/07/2014 19:46

I didn't have a carvery Lem, I am skint :( I did however treat myself to a king sized pot noodle. Surely that deserves a round of applause in the "crap as fuck but tastes nice" awards.
