To want to set the record straight about the Cedar Falls Nurse In

Mamagiraffe · 14/07/2014 13:27

I am organising the peaceful protest OUTSIDE THE GATES of Cedar Falls. The protest is not taking place because Victoria tried to take an under 16 to an age-restricted place expecting special treatment it is because the spa have cancelled her booking rather than allowing her to make alternative arrangements. Whatever has happened in the past is immaterial and I am horrified by the muck-raking and bullying instigated here last night. I, personally, do not condone the online attack on their Facebook page but that is of course up to the individual., I have also requested members of the event to remove any they may have already posted but I have no power to do so. For those who are uninformed breastfeeding at 1 is not only recommended but it aids nutrition, soothing and attachment- for Victoria's child they may or may not have required a feed during this weekend but provision needed to be in place to facilitate this and it would be unfair for the child not to ensure this is possible, this does not mean that a nursing mother must be sequestered away from living a normal adult life for the duration. The rights regarding discrimination is to protect the right of the breastfeeding mother to do so. I won't be returning here to fight the fight but as MNHQ deleted the last thread I have had to start my own to give you my own twopence'th if anybody wants to contact us for more information the email address is [email protected]

Hairy reason MNHQ gave was "it is absolutely fine to discuss this issue on MN, what we felt overstepped the mark was linking to an individuals facebook page as it just inevitable became very personal"

And here we are, one of her suporters probably Tie Dye Fanjango Lady herself comes back and starts this thread....

TantrumsAndBalloons · 14/07/2014 13:55

they may or may not have required a feed during this weekend but provision needed to be in place to facilitate this and it would be unfair for the child not to ensure this is possible

this is ridiculous. It would be unfair on the child to take her to a child free spa and kick off about not being allowed in.
You are looking at this from a ridiculous perspective.
Dont go to child free places with your child. A spa is not a compulsory place to go. You have a choice to go there or not.

If your child cannot cope without BF, go somewhere else. a child friendly spa.

LoxleyBarrett · 14/07/2014 13:56

"Breastfeeding aids nutrition"

So that's why I did it - thanks for letting me know.

You really are going to make prize arses out of yourselves with this.

Valpollicella · 14/07/2014 13:57

Very very easy to find out that even with hugely limited information undortunately the serial whinger complainer moniker seems to be true

WeirdCatLady · 14/07/2014 13:58

People like this woman give breast feeding a bad name. She, and her hysterical 'don't let the truth stand in the way of whining' clique should be ashamed of themselves.

EarthWindFire · 14/07/2014 13:58

I'm extremely cross the thread got pulled. I had to go out and when I came back it had been zapped. Did MN cone back and explain the reason or just stick a deletion message on?

Just the message I think Sad

TheFairyCaravan · 14/07/2014 13:58

Hairy The woman in question or her family contacted MNHQ and asked them to pull it, so they did! Shock

SiennaBlake · 14/07/2014 13:59

Don't forget the part where the baby in question does drink out of a bottle too. A solution right there for her. It's all about her need to breast feed, not the child. Same as the hospital thing that people enlightened everyone to on the other thread.

JohnFarleysRuskin · 14/07/2014 14:01

I am going on a roller coaster ride (min height) (I'm not paying for it either) but I feel it would be very unfair for my baby to not be fed during this time - but rather than chose a ride we can both go on or not go on at all, I insist the roller coaster people sort this out. It's the law innit.

Oh what? They said not to bother? Bastards(!)

LittlePeaPod · 14/07/2014 14:01

I feel really bad for Cedar Falls. Maybe we should all go on and like their page.. Give that some positive support..

Waltermittythesequel · 14/07/2014 14:01

Well I sincerely hope you enjoy giving DM their fodder.

You look like nothing but a bunch of pathetic, slightly deranged, irritating breastfeeding nazis.

I was going to say twats, but I don't want to be deleted.

VanessaShanesa · 14/07/2014 14:01

What is this about? Who's victoria?

TheFairyCaravan · 14/07/2014 14:02

The baby must drink from something else if all it needed was a bedtime feed. It has been a hot weekend, was it to have no other fluids?

MyFairyKing · 14/07/2014 14:02

I just noticed that Victoria the OP said she's not coming back anyway, but please do read her patronising bullshit. Breastfeeding "aids nutrition" you know. Grin

wanttosinglikemarycoughlan · 14/07/2014 14:03

Why should they make provision. The day they let children into spas will be the day I stop going, I love my adult only breaks
Does anyone really think said child was going to be left outside? IMO she was going to smuggle child in for the night
And you have resurrected a discussion which the poor darlings family asked to be removed
nice one OP

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 14/07/2014 14:03

I'm not really sure what the object of these threads are...I presume to put everyone off going....but SOLEY due to the last thread, 2 friends googled it, loved it and have each booked a large group for hen parties...so you've actually managed to give them MORE business ...you should go into promotion...

diddl · 14/07/2014 14:03

When you have young children, you have to accept that there are places that you cannot take them-bfed or not!

It looks a fab place & I have only heard of it through this.

I would have thought no kids was perfectly in keeping.

MaryWestmacott · 14/07/2014 14:03

Am I the only one who feels really sorry for Victoria's Mum? She wins a competition to go to a spa, and decides to take as her guest, her DD, who then throws a strop, getting both of them cancelled.

If I was Victoria's mum, I miht call back, apologise and ask if I could still have my prize if I bring a less shouty guest.

Anyway, the laws round breast feeding just means that if you happen to be somewhere with your DCs and they want to be fed, you can feed them, fabulous. It doesn't mean that companies are no longer allowed to put age restrictions on services.

Staywithme · 14/07/2014 14:03

I don't know why anyone is asking mamaguff questions, she's too busy grasping at straws, re: breast feeding laws, and helping feed Victoria's 'look at me, look at me!" issues to answer. Then she has to round up all those breast feeding mums to practice their angry/sad/daily fail faces for the photo OP. Keeping in mind it's not about not being allowed to bring a baby into an adult only venue but about her free booking being cancelled, hence the breast feeding protest. And breath. Ok? (Head tilt) Confused Grin

breastfeeding at 1 is not only recommended but it aids nutrition

yeah, we know this already. And?

provision needed to be in place to facilitate this

agreed, no-one wants to see a child go hungry but this is solely the responsibility of the parents. The venue don't allow under 16's on their premises so its not something they even need to consider.

and it would be unfair for the child not to ensure this is possible

absolutely, so the mother needed to ensure her infant had adequate nutrition. Booking herself onto private premises where under 16's were prohibited was a really dumb idea then wasn't it and deeply unfair on her child?

this does not mean that a nursing mother must be sequestered away from living a normal adult life for the duration

eh? sequestered? you mean like hidden away, removed or separated from her child? The only person who did that was her when she booked herself an overnight stay onto private premises that did not allow under 16's

She had a choice! A choice not to go (because they don't allow under 16's) or a choice to go elsewhere where they do allow babies, or a choice to defer until her baby was no longer needing a night feed.

SiennaBlake · 14/07/2014 14:06

Oh, no, mary, the mum is on it too. Her and the mr are the enablers of this show.

diddl · 14/07/2014 14:06

If Victoria's mum was cancelled as well, that's a bit off, isn't it?

Silvercatowner · 14/07/2014 14:07

I hope Cedar Falls have a kick ass lawyer who can sue the arse of the OP.
