To want to set the record straight about the Cedar Falls Nurse In

Mamagiraffe · 14/07/2014 13:27

I am organising the peaceful protest OUTSIDE THE GATES of Cedar Falls. The protest is not taking place because Victoria tried to take an under 16 to an age-restricted place expecting special treatment it is because the spa have cancelled her booking rather than allowing her to make alternative arrangements. Whatever has happened in the past is immaterial and I am horrified by the muck-raking and bullying instigated here last night. I, personally, do not condone the online attack on their Facebook page but that is of course up to the individual., I have also requested members of the event to remove any they may have already posted but I have no power to do so. For those who are uninformed breastfeeding at 1 is not only recommended but it aids nutrition, soothing and attachment- for Victoria's child they may or may not have required a feed during this weekend but provision needed to be in place to facilitate this and it would be unfair for the child not to ensure this is possible, this does not mean that a nursing mother must be sequestered away from living a normal adult life for the duration. The rights regarding discrimination is to protect the right of the breastfeeding mother to do so. I won't be returning here to fight the fight but as MNHQ deleted the last thread I have had to start my own to give you my own twopence'th if anybody wants to contact us for more information the email address is [email protected]

help MN Will catch up on thread fom where I left in a bit. Can anyone remember did she have to express milk when she was in hospital and made the hospital complaint?

Sizzlesthedog · 14/07/2014 16:38

Maybe people who don't know the area should look on street view for an image of the gates and proximity to the main road.

I'm a technophobe so can't do links.

Also the gates are at the bottom of a uphill winding driveway, about half a mile long. So any sit in at the gates would go by unnoticed by CF, (main building at the top of step hil) not any passing traffic either to witness the occasion.

Anarchy99 · 14/07/2014 16:38

Sirzy I think it must be - its the use of the word "arsehattery" which gives it away!

toria You back on the thread yet?

QuintessentiallyQS · 14/07/2014 16:39

Here is a thought.

Why dont you take your babies to a gay men only sauna and kick up a stink that you are discriminated against as you are not allowed to breastfeed in there?

That's as ludicrous as campaigning outside an adults only spa.

To be honest, seeing that the woman in question has a history of sneaking her kids into adult only establishments, and boasted about it on her public blogs, I would not be surprised if CF became suspicious of this this womans demands of having her child on the property for its "bed time routine" breastfeed - an hour drive from home. Hmm

She may know to use social media, and I suspect, so do they! If you live your live on blogs and FB, your conduct is visible for all to see.

merrymouse · 14/07/2014 16:39

No, provision does not need to be made for 1 year olds to be breastfed at adult only establishments.

Making a song and dance about this does not help breast feeding mothers, whatever the age of their child.

Re: the cancellation, that has nothing to do with the general public. If the prize winners think cedar falls acted outside the law they should contact their lawyers.

Anarchy99 · 14/07/2014 16:40

Sirzy Reuseable fanjo pads with different designs and fairy dust! There are pics upthread but you may not want to look at them, especially if you have a weak stomach!

We've just got out of hospital again, because LO (who is 5 3/4 months) has refused to BF again for several days. On top of this he then got viral gastro-entiritis... Anyway, I have been pumping lots, and we have managed to get him to take EBM. I told the hospital that I didn't want to leave until we had re-established BF... Their response every time I say it is 'Well, you'll stop at six months anyway, so there's no point worrying now.'
Even when I explain that I plan to feed until LO decides to self-wean, and that I certainly want to feed until after the 1 year mark, they seem really reluctant to help us.
This has been going on since he was 4 weeks old. The health care professionals that we meet all seem to want to make us switch to formula, instead of sorting out the problems. In a hospital that has the Breast-feeding friendly status, why is this still happening?!!! It drives me mad. What can I do to help my LO and to convince them that we need their help still?

(Off facebook)

SiennaBlake · 14/07/2014 16:40

(Oops that was for little pea)

toriap2 · 14/07/2014 16:41

Am back, got 15 mins before we leave so DD is doing her hair/faffing/goodness knows what

Anarchy99 · 14/07/2014 16:43

See, we are keeping the thread going for you (and it hasn't been deleted!)

QuintessentiallyQS · 14/07/2014 16:45

"Even when I explain that I plan to feed until LO decides to self-wean, and that I certainly want to feed until after the 1 year mark, they seem really reluctant to help us. "

So, did the baby not self wean at almost 6 months then, when he started refusing the breast? Is the above not completely contradictory? If the baby was happy to take EBM, why the need to bring him for the night feed?

Thanks, I appreciate it. It has kept me sane today and yesterday so I don't want it to go. Plus I am so cross that the complainer can rubbish another business and we got our thread pulled for criticising her.

TheFairyCaravan · 14/07/2014 16:48

I've just been looking through the posts on CF's wall. I found this one

"It's me that had my booking cancelled. I originally rang go ask whether he was allowed in for the night and was told no. Totally understood that, then I asked about my DH meeting me once for a bedtime feed. They said no, then rang back later and said they had set aside a room for us to feed in. All sorted and happy.
Last night (evening before our booking) they rang to say MD says no and has cancelled our booking. I said, I'll feed in the car, and pointed out the law to them so they were aware. According to the receptionist he had said 'if they want to take us to court, let them.'
He rang back and was very rude to my Mum, and said our booking was cancelled, that he would not discuss it further and that we were banned from CF as we had broken the T&Cs (which is amazing as I had only asked a question!)". DISGRACEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE..."

So, MrV she did not ring to find out their policy on breastfeeding, she rang to ask if the baby could stay the night! You really don't have a clue what she said/did/posted do you?

QuintessentiallyQS · 14/07/2014 16:48

I have saved a copy of the previous thread in Word. Not sure that it will do the spa any good?

WestmorlandSausage · 14/07/2014 16:49

Can't imagine what must have been said for the mum to also lose out & both be banned!

I'm also a bit Hmm at a room being set aside for feeding tbh.

For the guest of a freebie winner!!

WestmorlandSausage · 14/07/2014 16:52

and also I think the original thread deletion completely missed the fact that it was her initial supporters who posted the links to her FB!

OooOooTheMonkey · 14/07/2014 16:54

I don't really know what the OP wanted to get from this thread. It's just carried on like the last thread which got deleted but with no names! Did the OP think by starting a new thread everyone was going to change their mind?! Confused
