To want to set the record straight about the Cedar Falls Nurse In

Mamagiraffe · 14/07/2014 13:27

I am organising the peaceful protest OUTSIDE THE GATES of Cedar Falls. The protest is not taking place because Victoria tried to take an under 16 to an age-restricted place expecting special treatment it is because the spa have cancelled her booking rather than allowing her to make alternative arrangements. Whatever has happened in the past is immaterial and I am horrified by the muck-raking and bullying instigated here last night. I, personally, do not condone the online attack on their Facebook page but that is of course up to the individual., I have also requested members of the event to remove any they may have already posted but I have no power to do so. For those who are uninformed breastfeeding at 1 is not only recommended but it aids nutrition, soothing and attachment- for Victoria's child they may or may not have required a feed during this weekend but provision needed to be in place to facilitate this and it would be unfair for the child not to ensure this is possible, this does not mean that a nursing mother must be sequestered away from living a normal adult life for the duration. The rights regarding discrimination is to protect the right of the breastfeeding mother to do so. I won't be returning here to fight the fight but as MNHQ deleted the last thread I have had to start my own to give you my own twopence'th if anybody wants to contact us for more information the email address is [email protected]

Is this woman related to the one who whipped out a potty in Peter Jones' curtain dept and whose DH came on here to try and whip up support for their complaint?

Sizzlesthedog · 14/07/2014 16:16

Girliefriend, yes that did look like the case on some fb shares. But it's moved on since then. The actual person it happened to has been whipping things up on her fb business site and encouraging awful things to be posted on the Cedar Falls fb page.

HaroldLloyd · 14/07/2014 16:16

No sadly not.

littledrummergirl · 14/07/2014 16:17

Saw the link to the sit in page and posted, but it went poof! Dont know the name of the business, anyone?

Anarchy99 · 14/07/2014 16:17

Oddfodd Nope - turns out there are a few of these people about....

D0oinMeCleanin · 14/07/2014 16:18

Is the car park not owned by Cedar Falls then?

Only I would've have thought that would be also be adult only, if Cedar Falls so wishes it to be.

HaroldLloyd · 14/07/2014 16:18

Girle, I don't think she has had any support reform anyone that has read all the original posts on her page, cedar falls page and the facebook page.

Dosent that tell you something?

No need to be disappointed, but I've read everything and think it's ridiculous, exaggerated and rather daft.

LoxleyBarrett · 14/07/2014 16:20

I wonder if Mr V will come back and answer questions as promised?

WeirdCatLady · 14/07/2014 16:23

I've just showed dd the galaxy fanjo pads and we are both crying with laughter about the whole thing!

If you search cedar falls UK in tweets you can find some business pages linky there.

That bloody fairy dust is like glitter you find it everywhere

MammaTJ · 14/07/2014 16:25

Yes, Sizzles, I pointed that out up thread. Irresponsible as well as bonkers.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 14/07/2014 16:26

Girliefriend - by her own account, she originally asked to take the baby into the spa, for their feed. She only offered to feed outside in the car after the booking was cancelled.

The more I think about this, the more it looks like MsSparklyFanjoPad manufactured this entire issue. Her mum won a prize and invited her along to an over 18s ONLY spa - she could have declined, she could have left some EBM for her dh to give the baby (who is a year old and is therefore not going to starve without one breastfeed, nor is his bond with his mum going to be destroyed by having his nighttime milk from a bottle - given by his loving father, to whom he is, presumably, also reasonably well bonded, not some emotionless robot), or she could have slipped out to meet her husband and the baby off-site. Asking to bring the baby in to feed was highly likely to be refused, but she asked anyway, so she could claim discrimination when her request was refused.

londonrach · 14/07/2014 16:26

Thanks fairy for link. Can't wait to show dh it tonight. Be an education for him. On a serious not please be careful that road is hell.

Cocolepew · 14/07/2014 16:26

Thanks for the PM Fairy. The pads are, um, interesting.

TheFairyCaravan · 14/07/2014 16:27

I would imagine it went something like this.

CF's reception said they could make a room available for after she started quoting the "law"! They then spoke to the MD who took advice, and was told if the baby came on to the premises and was fed anywhere they couldn't ask her to leave, so they thought about it and decided to overturn the prize. They probably thought after her gobbling off about the "law" she would sue and if there was a child there other guests would want a refund so either way it would cost CF greatly. Therefore, it would be better all round if she didn't come.

newsecretidentity · 14/07/2014 16:28

For the love of cheese, will somebody please pm me the name of the sparkly fanjo pad page? I NEED to see the sparkly fanjo pads.

SiennaBlake · 14/07/2014 16:28

I liked the subtle clue pumpkin but you've got that bloody song in my head now Grin

SnowyMouse · 14/07/2014 16:30

Can I have the fanjo pad page link too?

PinkSquash · 14/07/2014 16:30

I don't know anyone who would drive from Exeter to Taunton to breastfeed. So all the 'its just a bedtime feed' is balls.

It's such a dramatic way to do anything and the post on her Sew... page was bloody inflammatory. I saw it on Fb (am/was a follower) and there was a goading on there. MrSew, maybe ask Fb for copies of your familys posts on Fb so you can see what was said. You weren't exactly friendly and jovial either.

LinesThatICouldntChange · 14/07/2014 16:30

Me too, secretidentity. I have a ghastly image in my head, but maybe the reality is even worse

Pumpkinpositive · 14/07/2014 16:33

I NEED to see the sparkly fanjo pads

I posted pictures of them up thread! Angry

Had to crop and edit the pictures to remove the name of the business too.

Everyone just sing blurred lines instead.

Sirzy · 14/07/2014 16:34

Love this review on the cedar farm website, HAS to be a MNer surely?

"Just like the majority of reviewers on this page, I'd never heard of the place until a whining, deluded special snowflake decided to start an online campaign because she wasn't allowed to bring her toddler into an adults Spa hotel.

Breastfeeding is great, natural term breastfeeding is marvellous. Thinking you deserve special treatment by the world because you are feeding a child from your mammary glands is arsehattery at its worst.

The spa hasn't broken any laws, and the 'infant' in question is a toddler who presumably eats a healthy three meals a day so wasn't going to starve without breast milk. The spa doesn't allow any children, breast fed, bottle fed or chewing on raw steak.

Those of you who are posting one star reviews based on this bandwagon should have a long hard think about how suggestible you are."

Sirzy · 14/07/2014 16:35

and what have a I missed about sparkly pads? wonders if she actually wants to know?

HaroldLloyd · 14/07/2014 16:36

People are on every feasible review site and social media site rubbishing them after reading a few posts from a Facebook page from a stranger.
