To want to set the record straight about the Cedar Falls Nurse In

Mamagiraffe · 14/07/2014 13:27

I am organising the peaceful protest OUTSIDE THE GATES of Cedar Falls. The protest is not taking place because Victoria tried to take an under 16 to an age-restricted place expecting special treatment it is because the spa have cancelled her booking rather than allowing her to make alternative arrangements. Whatever has happened in the past is immaterial and I am horrified by the muck-raking and bullying instigated here last night. I, personally, do not condone the online attack on their Facebook page but that is of course up to the individual., I have also requested members of the event to remove any they may have already posted but I have no power to do so. For those who are uninformed breastfeeding at 1 is not only recommended but it aids nutrition, soothing and attachment- for Victoria's child they may or may not have required a feed during this weekend but provision needed to be in place to facilitate this and it would be unfair for the child not to ensure this is possible, this does not mean that a nursing mother must be sequestered away from living a normal adult life for the duration. The rights regarding discrimination is to protect the right of the breastfeeding mother to do so. I won't be returning here to fight the fight but as MNHQ deleted the last thread I have had to start my own to give you my own twopence'th if anybody wants to contact us for more information the email address is [email protected]

Didn't the family have a gigantic hissy fit about this being discussed on here, mardying until MN pulled it? you write as though MN was attempting to silence this woman. That's not the case. She pulled a 'thcweem and thcweem and thcweem until I'm thick' on them.

Then you come along and post a tweeked in your favour version. Nice try but people have the amazing ability to remember things even after they have been deleted. Fantastic. It's almost like we have a handy little computer lurking inside our own heads. Who knew? And people have a handy screen shot button on their PCs too. Just so you know...

TBH, you can spin it however you like and it won't matter. There are many screen shots circulating of what was actually said. There are too many people who actually read it. It was very clear that it was a case of I haven't got my own way, I am going to try to ruin this business. You can't rewrite it all and try to flog it to a new audience because the proof is out there and you can't get away with banging on about something in an attempt to force people to agree with you. People have the right to disagree with you and the right to express that (obv personal attacks are against guidelines on this site) and the right to debate the legalities and to pick apart legislation.

I don't understand why someone would choose to stay away overnight if they need to feed their baby a night? My dd is breastfed and, at 7 months, I haven't stayed away overnight yet or been out at bedtime (because I'm a wuss!) because I still feed her to sleep. This is my choice and I wouldn't expect my DP or a venue to pander to this choice - when I do decide to stay out at bedtime/ overnight I will make provisions for my dd to allow that to happen. If this lady wants to still feed her baby at night, maybe she should stay at home or go somewhere that she can take a baby?
And the nurse-in is a terrible, counter-productive move that will do far more harm than good for the rights of breastfeeding mothers - just ridiculous!
I am v confused about how they KNOW the booking was cancelled because Cedar Falls is an anti-breastfeeding, baby hating venue? It's all a bit strange to me!

toriap2 · 14/07/2014 15:22

Me me me I'm a mums utter and I have a photographic memory! Grin

HecatePropylaea · 14/07/2014 15:22

You know, if the daily mail runs a Mumsnetters' Breastapo Sit In Mumsnetters Outraged By Spa... deliberate twisting of this, and trigger another wave of hate and bile our way because of this ruddy woman, I shall do my bloody nut Grin

That's because you are sensible and have common sense.

toriap2 · 14/07/2014 15:26

Please could I clarify. The complainer and or family complained about the last thread so it got pulled. They then started a new thread on the same subject. Why? In the name of cheese why???

diddl · 14/07/2014 15:26

"I don't understand why someone would choose to stay away overnight if they need to feed their baby a night? "

Because it was a freebie with mummy at a spa!

OooOooTheMonkey · 14/07/2014 15:29

mrssmith79 · 14/07/2014 15:33

We need T-shirts

Front
"Mumsnutters, supporting breastfeeding - without being a tit about it"

Back
"Unlike that dusty fango pad Cedar Spa mob"

LoonvanBoon · 14/07/2014 15:33

Haven't followed this & only read the first & last pages - but saw the reference to John Lewis.

Is this the woman who wanted to get her older child's potty out in the soft furnishings department? Please tell me it is. How I loved that thread.

GiveTwoSheets · 14/07/2014 15:34

I hope CF do a prize give away to mn when they reach 10,000 likes Grin

SiennaBlake · 14/07/2014 15:34

No, loon. This ones toddlers head got stuck behind a hand dryer despite mum and grandma being there to supervise. Then it was John Lewis fault and they demanded something doing to the dryers or something so no other toddlers would get stuck.
