To wonder why MNHQ still haven't given us our Chalet School topic?

Because we probably shouldn't still be hanging out in AIBU, four (or is it five?) threads later.

I've been reading all the lovely transcripts, and although I started Prefects yesterday, I don't want to finish it, because it's the last one! :-(

Hi everyone,

Just an update that there's no immediate plan for a Chalet School topic, but we'll consider it as part of the topic re-jig we have planned soon.

In the meantime the best place for these threads is Chat, and then we can move them to Other Subjects when they get full.

TooSpotty · 13/07/2014 17:46

I think the plaque is still in the Pertisau library. Tucked away!

TooSpotty · 13/07/2014 17:47

And for those with small children wanting to visit, there are TWO Kinderhotels at the Achensee. So it can be easily done.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 13/07/2014 18:58

But then they'll disappear mnhq and how will the Chaletians find us then?

We could have a school stories topic in fiction? I don't mind sharing and it will be a lot easier to fix up matches and feuds which end in near-death and so on if we're all in the one place...

JoeyMaynardsghost · 13/07/2014 19:03

There's more to MN than AIBU? Confused

RobinGrin you'll look sweet like you always do.

Just reading Jane and Joey has invited Jane over to meet her then buggers off to do some work instead. Do come over, and now sort yourselves out cos I'm busy. Nice one.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 13/07/2014 19:42

Hmm, and the reasons to politely decline an invite to Freudesheim just keep stacking up.

Crepe paper costumes sound like a malfunction waiting to happen - even for the beautiful angelic one (with her halo stuck to beautifully and tear-jerkingly to her head). Still, I do love a staff evening. I think I will dress as a teddy boy. I do hope I win a prize.

Alicebannedit · 13/07/2014 19:50

RueDeWakening "Cerita, my DS1 is at preschool with a Cornelia, I haven't dared ask if the mum got it from the CS books"

You could ask the mum where she found such a pretty name. And hope she doesn't say from Girl With A Pearl Earring!

MsAnnersley · 13/07/2014 20:00

Now that we've started a new thread I'm hoping to also see a new attitude from some of you .
Joan Baker is on her final chance and at risk of expulsion. As the rest of you have eyes like pansies or connections to the Maynards shown some remorse I am prepared to be more lenient.
However, the following rules must now be adhered to:

1 No dressing up as inappropriate objects at fancy dress parties
2 No reading smutty books when you are meant to be playing tennis
3 No teaching Mary Lou foul language and telling her it's authentic German
4 No sniggering at Mrs Maynard's tasteful lime green ensembles
5 No spreading rumours that Peggy Bettany and Len Maynard are dull and boring and were only chosen as head girls because of family connections even though it's true
6 No making cakes using illegal substances
7 No visiting the summerhouse which is strictly out of bounds

Anyone caught breaking any of these rules will have their names crossed off the list of potential wives sent to the San every year.

Vintagejazz · 13/07/2014 20:04

Does a toilet roll count as an 'inappropriate object'?

Vintagejazz · 13/07/2014 20:08

Can we read smutty books when we're not meant to be playing tennis?

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 13/07/2014 20:16

But may we snigger at Mrs Maynard's non-tasteful lime green ensembles?

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 13/07/2014 20:19

Ah. Does this mean that by making jokes about lime green twinsets whilst drinking gin in the summerhouse, I can avoid winning my very own Dr Jem? Because that would be golluptious. I don't want a Dr Jem, I want a senior mistress, please.

Pmsl at toilet roll costume!

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 13/07/2014 20:21

Oh, and it's OK if I tell Mary-Lou that 'fuckface' is a Schweizerdeutsch term of endearment, right?

Vintagejazz · 13/07/2014 20:22

Can we teach Mary Lou bad language and tell her it's authentic French?

Also, can we say Con Maynard is very boring?

Gosh, these rules are very hard to work out Confused

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 13/07/2014 20:26

I quite like Con. I actually don't dislike Len, or find her especially boring (compared to most of her contemporaries, anyway - she's definitely no Grizel). I was most annoyed by the bit in Theodora in which Mary-bloody-Lou of all people tells Len she should fret less about her sisters, and Con she should think before she opens her mouth. Was that irony really unintended, EBD?

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 13/07/2014 20:46

Tell OOAO that 'amma bawbag' is low German for 'I agree' while you're at it, girls.

JoeyMaynardsghost · 13/07/2014 20:51

I didn't hear the rules as I was in the summerhouse necking the rest of the gin with Joan Baker. This means they don't apply to me. :)

RobinHumphries · 13/07/2014 20:55

I am polishing my halo.

Joey that gin was meant for bribing MNHQ! Now what are we going to do when they shift us to chat?

Vintagejazz · 13/07/2014 21:00

Ghost Miss Annersley wants to see you immediately in her study. Her eyes which have never needed glasses are looking a bit scary.

Did you finish all the gin?

JoeyMaynardsghost · 13/07/2014 21:00

Oops give them some milk? I'm sorry, I didn't think.

I have just locked Miss Annersley in her room so no more silly rules we can't keep even if we don't want to marry a doctor and have 11 children.

DeWee · 13/07/2014 21:01

MsA My cakes were fine unless you're telling me that Matey's special milk ha illegal substances in. Shock

Nell That has to be the best bit of pot calling kettle black in the series.
Although there's a few times when Joey tells people how calmly she took the news of Jack's disappearance and how they should do similar which boil my blood.

Vintagejazz · 13/07/2014 21:02

I've just seen her climbing out the window. She did not look happy.

JoeyMaynardsghost · 13/07/2014 21:06
DeWee · 13/07/2014 21:12

I think Matey has a headache too. She's been drinking too much special milk again.

RobinHumphries · 13/07/2014 21:14

DeWee maybe Jem dosed Joey up so much that she didn't actually remember how she initially reacted. Quite a few sedatives do have amnesiac properties.
