Apologies for the daily mail link and apologies if its already been done, I did have a quick look and couldn't see anything.

An old work friend posted the video of this on Facebook last night and it is horrendous... (And this absolutely doesn't excuse it) but she thought she was doing it for a holiday, but it turned out to be for a drink.

I feel so sorry for her parents (and for her actually)..

I think the rep who organised this 'game' should face prosecution...

I feel desperately sad for this young woman and hope she is protected by a strong support system. There has always been plenty of foolish young people doing incredibly stupid things, in the past it was forgotten about and put down to experience as they grew up.

Nowadays social media follows the young and stupid everywhere, invades every part of their lives and leads to vicious international bullying mobs. This girl did nothing deserving of the humiliation and trauma from public bullying inflicted by tens of thousands of people throughout social networks and the worlds media.

She was victimised by those posting the video on the internet, those sharing it and the media for further publicising it. Not to mention the disgusting 'slut shaming' against her.

Poor, poor girl, this is so sad for her and her family.

Nicknacky · 04/07/2014 20:59

I disagree that she did "nothing deserving of the humiliation and trauma". She gave blow jobs to 24 men in the hope of a free holiday. In this day of technology it would be naive to believe that someone isn't recording it.

And I think some people are confused about rape and being unable to consent. Situations where a person is unconscious/completely incapable come under that offence, not merely being under the influence. As someone said, alcohol lowers your inhibitions but doesn't take away your responsibility for doing something stupid while drunk.

Bambambini · 04/07/2014 21:04

This just has no place in the news and for this girl to be shamed worldwide. Reminds me of the nurse who killed herself over the prank. Lets push and push and humiliate people worldwide - just for a laugh and faux outrage to let folk feel superior with no thought that there is a real person at the center of it.

CerealMom · 04/07/2014 21:45

The only good thing that can come out of this whole mess, are the discussions we can have with our own kids.

Alcohol/drugs/consent/personal responsibility/sexual health/emotional health/consequences/friendships/relationships/expectations etc etc etc...

curiousgeorgie · 04/07/2014 21:50

The company have tweeted that she wasn't drunk, she loved it, she had such a fantastic time she and 8 of her friends bought tickets for the next beer crawl.

OP posts:
Nicknacky · 04/07/2014 21:54

What company has tweeted that??

curiousgeorgie · 04/07/2014 21:55

Carnage Magaluf who organised it.

What an appalling company. Even if the implications didn't hit her on holiday I bet she doesn't feel great now. She obviously has a dreadful bunch of 'mates'

SanityClause · 04/07/2014 22:38

I doubt very much whether a man acting in this way in a gay club would be reported in the gutter national press, fifi669.

Homophobia is not acceptable in our society. Sexism is.

SanityClause · 04/07/2014 22:45

Sorry, I worded that badly.

The homophobic angle would be too much of a "hot potato" for the gutter press. I am aware that homophobia is a large and real problem in our society.

The uk lot is run by different people.

Even if they wouldn't run the story for fear of being labelled homophobic, I'm sure the feelings about the video would still be there.

BruthasTortoise · 04/07/2014 23:21

I, as a mother of sons, would be genuinely upset if my sons grew up with so little respect for themselves that they would allow an intoxicated stranger to suck their penises in front of a crowded bar. I think it says something that, as far as I'm aware the organisers could only get one young woman to participate but there were 24 young men involved.

Darkesteyes · 04/07/2014 23:30

Agree with solid and tethersend.

SnowinBerlin the deception to gain sex thing.

As you have just finished your exams what is the stance on the police spies who did exactly that.

Bambambini · 04/07/2014 23:30

Maybe she will be fine with this. Just because it would be our worst nightmare doesn't mean it will be hers I guess. It's possible she might even enjoy the notoriety - I almost hope so.

Still doesn't excuse the rep, holiday company and the bar - and the media for whipping it up.

Darkesteyes · 04/07/2014 23:34

fifi said "The papers don't want to see anyone being hounded into suicide That's ridiculous.

Oh really??!!! What about Lucy Meadows.

www.theguardian.com/uk/2013/may/28/lucy-meadows-coroner-press-shame

TheWholeOfTheSpoon · 05/07/2014 01:36

So, now we're comparing Lucy Meadows with a girl who was happy to give out 24 3 second blow jobs?!!!

Darkesteyes · 05/07/2014 01:50

FFS The hounding of Lucy was a contributing factor in her deciding to end her own life.

CORONERS VERDICT!

Toadinthehole · 05/07/2014 03:25

Ye gods. This is not about rape. This is about public drunkenness and indecency, which I presume are crimes under Spanish law. She was drunk and publicly indecent, the men were drunk and/or publicly indecent, and the promoter assisted in the indecency.

Yes folks, believe it or not, the laws of most jurisdictions consider adults responsible enough to be criminally liable for drunkness and acts done while drunk. They also hold responsible those who take advantage of a person's drunkenness, but that is a separate point.

The Spanish authorities may decide she's suffered enough. Or they may decide that she should be prosecuted under Spanish law anyway as she got drunk and committed a sex act on a whole load of blokes out of sheer greed for a holiday.

I wouldn't be surprised if Spanish law doesn't even allow her to sue for her holiday, on the basis that it's an immoral contract.

differentnameforthis · 05/07/2014 04:14

and everyone of them held their penis towards her mouth

I'd say that was consent, then... no?

differentnameforthis · 05/07/2014 04:20

But I also don't agree that she was raped/assaulted. She willingly did it.

She was exploited, yes. As were the men.

The guilty ones are the people who thought they could get a young woman to humiliate herself for the sake of something that didn't exist in the name of 'entertainment' and the people who recorded it & handed it to the press.

I wonder if they would have set a man a task such as this?

Toadinthehole · 05/07/2014 04:20

I'd say so, which is why the Spanish authorities might decide to prosecute them for drunk indecency too, on the basis that they are drunken louts and not victims at all.

sashh · 05/07/2014 06:15

I'd say that was consent, then... no?

Was it informed consent? Did she only consent because she was lied to?

Toadinthehole · 05/07/2014 07:42

What a red herring.

oohdaddypig · 05/07/2014 07:50

Must depend on the local laws in the country. I'm sure they can find a way to prosecute for something.

The locals must despair.
