Apparently bit an Italian player.

First Ajax, then Ivanovic now this.

Surely he shouldn't be allowed to play for his country if he is capable of doing this again?

No, me neither Herc, in which case any meaningful ban from domestic football will have a massive impact on Liverpool - that'll learn 'em Grin Unfortunately, the more likely International only ban will only enhance his value to a club side.

As I said previously, the fact that Liverpool (and others before and after) were prepared to sign him despite his track record is a large contributing factor to the creation of the monster.

Actually, having looked at the videos again, I think his behaviour after the bite was actually even worse Shock than the bite. The bite was on impulse. Clearly something wrong that he feels that impulse and can't control it but the dive afterwards and trying to pretend he was elbowed was very deliberate and calculated.

As an aside, how can someone so intelligent as a footballer be so stupid? He knew TV cameras from all over the world were recording the game, how was it possible anyone would believe he'd been elbowed?

Fullpleatherjacket · 25/06/2014 11:35

I have every expectation that he will survive this and it will be swept under the carpet yet again.

If he had two left feet he'd be history but he hasn't and his monetary value (which paradoxically may now increase thanks to his notoriety) will outweigh any other consideration.

Perhaps a muzzle for all future games?

According to Neil Warnock the bite may have been orchestrated in order to get Suarez a passage across the Mersey. Yeah, right, and I'm a squirrel.

What horrifies me is the level of support he continues to get from a sizable number of LFC fans. The RAWK forum is full of it, to the extent that I'm tempted to post this on there, as a reminder of just how unstable, vicious and unpleasant he is. Some of the assaults on this video are potentially career-ending and nothing short of criminal.

Chunderella - their attitude is completely to blame for him. He was sold by his previous club, and the fact that LFC were prepared to take him after the first bite was war gave him the certainty that he was untouchable. If they hadn't taken him, he might never have bitten again. LFC are completely culpable.

No it's not Chunderella. Obviously, ultimately he is responsible for his own behaviour but if his employer/mentors/the authorities can have no influence on his behaviour why do we have a criminal justice system?

To say that Liverpool bear no responsibility for his current behaviour is like saying that the police/courts have no responsibility for the continued offending of a criminal who repeatedly gets away with his crimes (or is rewarded for them)

Erm... having already acknowledged I am a Red but find him embarrassing

LFC have insisted he has psychological support - and he has had no problems this year. So they have addressed the situation.

The fault for his behaviour is his, entirely. The fault for appearing to condone it belongs to LFC, FA and FIFA.... although as he has had bans, even that is maybe too much to say, at this moment in time. Hopefully the FIFA ruling will make a difference.

hoobypickypicky · 25/06/2014 12:54

Liverpool don't have any responsibility for his behaviour. He's an adult, that lies entirely at his door - and I'm not a Liverpool fan and am not saying this out of any interest in the club.

What Liverpool should have is the business sense (and arguably the moral respectability) to rid themselves of this shoddy little character for good... and more fool any takers!

He'd actually ordered shoulder of Lahm.

hoobypickypicky · 25/06/2014 13:04

I have to beg to differ (on responsibility, not on RAWK, which are a constant source of amusement and amazement!). I think that responsibility for another human being's behaviour lies only with parents and even then only before the issue reaches adulthood!

Back to RAWK - I have "RAWK Meltdown" on my Twitter account. It whiles away boring train journeys wonderfully! Wink Grin

vertec · 25/06/2014 13:12

I think the worst aspect of this is the reaction of the rest of the team and the Uruguay media which is rabidly pro-Suarez, denying that the bite actually happened, and attacking the "English media" for making it up.

www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/players/luis-suarez/10924994/Luis-Suarez-Uruguay-players-and-media-hit-out-at-hypocritical-English-and-Giorgio-Chiellini-over-bite.html

So the captain Lugano says "I’ve just watched the TV images and I didn’t see anything. What I saw was a struggle and a photo of Chiellini which showed an old scar. You have to be stupid to imagine that scar is recent, very stupid." And the Uruguayan equivalent of the BBC says "In our view, the TV images are not clear and you can’t see Suarez biting Chiellini’s shoulder"

What incidents like this reveal is how very far some societies are away from what we consider to be universal principles of fairness and honesty. We look at this in horror and a large part of the rest of the world shrugs their shoulders and considers this kind of cheating and corruption as just part of life.

areyoubeingserviced · 25/06/2014 13:17

I hope they ban him
Nasty man

Frontier · 25/06/2014 13:20

It's not really the "rest of the World" though is it vertec?

Liverpool supported him completely knowing he's a nasty racist and they signed him knowing he bites opponents.

There are reported to be several more clubs interested in buying him despite knowing all this.

vertec · 25/06/2014 13:36

Frontier - Liverpool supporting him is not an entire culture supporting him. The English press did not support him, and neither did the Liverpool fans really. The LFC fans in general have always been in awe of his talent but ashamed of his behaviour - I am one. It's been a conflicting place to be.

A comparison is Beckham's sending off - the English press savaged his actions and most people I know were disappointed in him. There are certainly cultural differences in how this kind of behaviour is viewed.

ipanemame · 25/06/2014 13:59

Ban him. It was an assault. End of.

ComposHat · 25/06/2014 15:39

I am not defending Suarez but then so is every mistimed tackle an assault. Ditto, pushing and shoving in the box at corner kicks.

BeCool · 25/06/2014 16:21

I hope this gif works - quite funny!

to think Suarez needs to be banned or something?
brdgrl · 25/06/2014 16:23

Banned and jailed. Assault.

londonrach · 25/06/2014 19:04

Frontier · 25/06/2014 19:24

5pm Brazil time, Im sure I said that. 9pm here i believe, although that was the deadline for Uruguay to present their case, then FIFA need to make their decision.

londonrach · 25/06/2014 19:26

9pm I'd be in bed there watching Arthur on bbc iplayer... (Admits too much information)
