Apparently bit an Italian player.

First Ajax, then Ivanovic now this.

Surely he shouldn't be allowed to play for his country if he is capable of doing this again?

racist suarez www.theguardian.com/football/2012/jan/01/fa-report-luis-suarez-patrice-evra

The link is quite long but interesting reading..
"why did you kick me?"
"because you are black" and so on

Toadinthehole · 24/06/2014 19:24

Liverpool. Not ever noted for impartiality.

ElleBellyBeeblebrox · 24/06/2014 19:25

"The FA, while finding Evra to be a credible witness, declared that Suárez's evidence was unreliable and inconsistent with the video footage. According to Evra's testimony, Suárez said in Spanish that he had earlier kicked Evra "because you are black", said "I don't speak to blacks" and used the word "negro" five times in total as they argued. Suárez had claimed that he used the word 'negro' only once to address Evra and this was intended to be conciliatory and friendly, but the FA rejected this claim as being "unsustainable and simply incredible given that the players were engaged in an acrimonious argument." As the conversation between Suárez and Evra took place in Spanish, linguistic experts were called in to help the panel with the meaning of the phrases. The panel concluded that "Suárez's use of the term [negro] was not intended as an attempt at conciliation or to establish rapport; neither was it meant in a conciliatory and friendly way."

He's a pig.

MrsLettuce · 24/06/2014 19:25

Maybe your precise choice of words was just unfortunate then, caruthers.

ThursdayLast · 24/06/2014 19:29

He really is a horror.
Player of the season eh?
The Premier League makes yet another joke of itself.

caruthers · 24/06/2014 19:30

MrsLettuce suggesting a grown adult who has bitten at least 3 people on a football field may have MH problems isn't an overstretch.

He certainly has some unresolved issues.

MissMilbanke · 24/06/2014 19:32

Thank you for the obvious explanation

What a horrible man

OscarFrancoisDeJarjayes · 24/06/2014 19:33

Disgusting man. Shame on the whole team.

Kewcumber · 24/06/2014 19:34

entirely unmarked shoulder well I thought I could see a mark and the commentary team said that they had replayed the clip several times in slow mpotion and thought they could see a mark too.

I wonder what, if anything, will happen. I'm not sure Uruguay without Suarez is much of a team.

Marks are visible and Suarez is reported to have lost a tooth... that's what all his hanging on to his mouth was all about.

Oh dear, hopefully we will all read about a ban in the sport headlines tomorrow!

Boaty · 24/06/2014 19:41

I have just posted on the other thread
'Maybe if it impacted on the whole team when someone behaves in that way it would stop it! Ban him and 'strike out' all games in the tournament he has played in as team punishment.'

Nullifying all his games would send out a strong message!
England might have had half a flaming chance then Grin

MisForMumNotMaid · 24/06/2014 19:42

Disgusting behaviour. The only way I can see to stop it is by hitting the clubs in the pocket.

Surely there could be some rule about non broadcast of violent/ racist/ generally unacceptable conduct, hence cutting clubs budget and making them do something about out of control players.

Kewcumber · 24/06/2014 19:43

I thought he was hanging onto his mouth (belatedly) to try and make out that he'd "accidentally" hit his mouth on the Italians shoulder

passmethewineplease · 24/06/2014 19:45

Probably Kewcumber. Anything to absolve himself of any responsibility.

SlowlorisIncognito · 24/06/2014 19:48

I feel like there is going to come a point where noone will want to play against suarez as they don't want to be bitten. I certainly hope his team mates don't keep standing up for him. Tbh I think uraguay will go out in the next round anyway so a tournament ban won't be that much of a punishment.

It all seemed very pre meditated too. I don't think it's an anger management issue. He is just a cheat.

AnnaLegovah · 24/06/2014 19:48

FFS. Suarez does indeed have some kind of MH issue. Hes done a lot of work with psychologist Steve Peters (who also works with Ronnie O'sullivan and I met him last year). They're not open about what kind of issues Suarez actually has though, which is understandable.

I'd be very surprised if he plays again in this tournament at least. Havnt seen the footage yet - was it caught on camera?

AnnaLegovah · 24/06/2014 19:50

The FFS was for my inability to post first time...not aimed at anyone Blush

NewtRipley · 24/06/2014 19:52

Yes, ban him.

It's higky abnormal for an adult to bite. If he can't sort whatever it is that leads him to do this, then he is not fit to play.

Anna

He was caught bang to rights

Nomama · 24/06/2014 19:52

Well caught, Anna. Many sites with still frames and close ups. The commentary in various places is quite revealing/funny too.

AnnaLegovah · 24/06/2014 19:57

Ah yeah just had a look at some pics. Looks damning. Fifa will act for sure. That bite looks nasty!

Its a shame in a way that he lets himself down like this, hes very talented at the sport.

JohnFarleysRuskin · 24/06/2014 20:00

Where is the poster 'Luke suarezs teeth' at a time like this?!?
