Apparently bit an Italian player.

First Ajax, then Ivanovic now this.

Surely he shouldn't be allowed to play for his country if he is capable of doing this again?

He's married?!!!!

Redcoats · 24/06/2014 21:21

Itsfab - presumably so that he could later claim that he bit him accidentally. 'I just ran into him, guv'.

Redcoats · 24/06/2014 21:22

Married with 3 daughters.

IthoughtATMwasacashpoint · 24/06/2014 21:22

Maybe he should play in a Hannibal Lechter mask

TheSarcasticFringehead · 24/06/2014 21:23

He needs banning.

I think badly of Liverpool having him as a player and excusing what he's done in the past, and it seems Uruguay are the same.

JohnFarleysRuskin · 24/06/2014 21:24

Nooo!!!

BettyBolognese · 24/06/2014 21:24

He's a dirty, divey, bitey racist and he doesn't belong in football.

pumpkinsweetie · 24/06/2014 21:24

Maybe he is partial to some chianti and farther beans with his human meatGrin

ppplease · 24/06/2014 21:28

I am surprised at Liverpool too.
Money and goals must mean more to them.
It will have to be Liverpool fans who get him kicked out.

daisychain01 · 24/06/2014 21:29

Im massively pissed off, I had Italy in the sweepstake at work.

He's spoilt my game, AND he has severe behavioural problems that needs to be addressed before he is allowed to play for his club and country again. What possesses the "powers that be" allowing him to play?

TheSarcasticFringehead · 24/06/2014 21:31

This is assault, ffs. If my DC had done that when they were 4 or whatever, I would have been furious. This is a grown man. Regardless of his reasons, if he can't control himself - whether due to medical reasons or because he's a horrible man, or both- he should not be allowed on the football pitch as he is a danger to other players! The marks were painfully visible...what the hell was the referee doing?

AnnaLegovah · 24/06/2014 21:32

It isnt within the FA's remit at all - why would it be? Hmm They dont run world football!

I believe Fifa could enforce a total ban so affecting his ability to play for Liverpool. At the least I expect a ban from this tournament from Fifa. Depends on how harsh they want to be. You never know with Fifa.

nancy75 · 24/06/2014 21:33

No chance of liverpool fans turning on him, he scores goals.

HenI5 · 24/06/2014 21:35

Photo
One is photoshopped, I don't know which one, but given the size of his teeth I suspect a bite imprint would be larger and anything with the depth of colour on the right hand picture would have broken the skin and drawn blood.

Clearly there's something wrong with the man and he needs help. Not only does he bite, but he goes on to behave like a toddler who's been caught out. The previous sanctions against him obviously haven't done their job in preventing reoffending. I don't know what will work, although certainly he won't play again for the national team any time soon.

He cheats, but he doesn't cheat significantly more than a huge number of league and international players. His cheating is obviously compounded by his bad behaviour so more is made of it than the cheating of other players.

As for racist? I call 50:50 on that incident with Evra and yes I did wade through the entire FA report.
The FA, who are not beyond reproach themselves and that's putting it very mildly.

He's a very strange one. Would make a fascinating study.

TheSarcasticFringehead · 24/06/2014 21:35

FIFA could, but I doubt it. I think it will ultimately be down to Liverpool to decide. Hopefully Suarez will have that two year ban thing. Football is rough, but biting is so animalistic (sp?)

Toadinthehole · 24/06/2014 21:36

Why shouldn't the FA have the right to sanction a player signed to a local club in respect of what he does in a game abroad?

AnnaLegovah · 24/06/2014 21:38

Because its outside their remit, toad. If it happened in a domestic game, sure. The FA dont have that kind of power. Like I keep saying, its down to Fifa. They can stil ban him domestically.

LottieJenkins · 24/06/2014 21:39

I cant stand Suarez. He is like an overgrown baby who bites when he cant get his own way! I am as is well known on MN a HUGE Chelsea fan and was disgusted when Suarez beart Ivanovich!

Nomama · 24/06/2014 21:39

One here.... and most of my family have wanted him gone for a while now. All lifelong Reds (well, except for the others, who are lifelong Toffeemen).

He can score as many goals as he wants. He is a bloody embarrassment. Let's just hope Barcelona still want him - sooner rather than later.

TheSarcasticFringehead · 24/06/2014 21:43

He acts like a child. Worse than that. If my DC bit someone, I would be horrified, and they are in primary school. If my child called someone ANY name- let's ignore the racist bit (and I know there are arguments that in some parts of South America it has a less offensive meaning) for the moment- I would be shocked and angry. If my DC cheated on a test, shoved someone in a football match and so on, I would be very cross. I don't know anyone who thinks a kid should get away with it, but some people I've seen on FB are excusing it... Hmm

DenzelWashington · 24/06/2014 22:00

Have you seen his teeth? It would be like being bitten by a horse.

Don't forget that in the last WC he stopped a Ghana winner with his hand in extra time. Ghana missed the penalty and lost the penalty shootout

I read another player comment about that incident. He said plenty of other professional football players would have handled the ball like Suarez, but he could not think of another who would have gloated and openly celebrated getting away with it as he did.

Speaking as a Ghana fan, roll on the 24 game ban.
Ha ha ha ha.

TheSarcasticFringehead · 24/06/2014 22:02

Suarez has always struck me as smug. I now feel validated!

AlerieVelaryon · 24/06/2014 22:19

I am sad because although my DH and DC are English the best moments of the England v Uruguay game were watching him run and score. When I heard about this I thought "oh no" he is cursed, a flawed genius, what a shame. I do not excuse his behaviour just am so sad for him and the Italian he bit. Why oh why did you do this Luis? Now I must miss your style, your panache, your verve. Kids are calling him Count Suarez.

What will become of him?

nancy75 · 24/06/2014 22:25

Alerie - why are you sad for him? this is the third time he has bitten another player. If he has issues he certainly has the money and means to get help. As for what will become of him - he will probably get banned for a few matches (if at all ) and then carry on earning millions

SisterChristina · 24/06/2014 22:33

As a pretty irrelevant aside he has a son and daughter, not 3 daughters
