I find it hard to believe the ref would do nothing if presented with tooth marks. More likely he thought it was yet another player trying to make capital out of an innocuous incident.

The ref didn't see the incident, as it was off the ball. The close up pics are pretty conclusive for me, definite indents mirroring the buck toothed ones nashers. I think FIFA have to act should Italy or Chiellini complain.

The Italian player was marching around with a bared shoulder. I don't believe it didn't come to the ref's attention.

Ages ago I read Rose Madder by Stephen King. Great book, and the protagonist's abusive husband is a 'biter'. It's one of the things that makes him truly terrifying. Because adults biting people. Just. Isn't. Right.

The ref cant make a decision if he hasnt seen the incident, presumably the linesmen/fourth official didnt see it either. So it'll be down to Fifa to decide what to do next.

Fair enough. There is a massive mark on the Italian player's shoulder. Couldn't see it on the TV.

The Brazilian authorities should prosecute him. They won't though as it would cause a diplomatic row. The more important question is whether FIFA has the power to ban a player from domestic football. I imagine not. If so, what will the FA do?

Since he did the biting why was he being all dramatic about holding his teeth? Was he trying to insinuate the other guy banged into him?

Toad, I suspect we're not the only ones who will be interested to see what the FA do. Their approach to misdemeanors, proven and unproven in the courts and on the pitch, has so far been incredibly varied, unpredictable and unreliable. I'd go so far as to say that they've been seen to have one rule for some and another rule for others.

I'd like to think that if it's within their remit they will take stringent action against Suarez but I won't hold my breath.
