to think 5pm on a gorgeous Sunday evening is a wholly unacceptable time to mow one's lawn?

Well, it is, isn't it? For, I believe, 99% of the population. Unfortunately for ME, the socially inept buffoon residing behind my house makes up the other %.

Really?!

7 am would be worse wouldn't it

EmilyElephantTrumpets · 22/06/2014 17:21

Couldn't care less. Probably wouldn't even notice.

5pm is a perfectly acceptable time to mow the lawn no matter what day it is. YABU

MM5 · 22/06/2014 17:22

I am unsure why this is inappropriate. I see no issue with it. People have busy lives. I rather it be cut, neat and tidy than worry about 5 pm. 7 am is definitely worse.

standingonlego · 22/06/2014 17:22

Nope - YABU (looks at DH mowing lawn)

CalamitouslyWrong · 22/06/2014 17:22

It may well be the only time he's got to mow it. I hate gardens. The few moments of decent weather in which you could enjoy them end up being taken up with gardening, which is just outdoor housework.

squoosh · 22/06/2014 17:22

What's the optimum time for lawn topiary management?

AnyoneForTennis · 22/06/2014 17:23

It's a nice sound!

squoosh · 22/06/2014 17:23

Plus you'll get the lovely scent of cut grass!

Cataline · 22/06/2014 17:23

What time would you prefer?

magpiegin · 22/06/2014 17:23

What's wrong with 5pm?

DulcetMoans · 22/06/2014 17:24

Yeah, sorry, disagree. I think 5pm on a Sunday is ok. It's light, it's unlikely people will be sleeping. It's fine.

When my neighbour starts drilling at 6.40am - that's unreasonable!

YABU, it's a perfect time

drudgetrudy · 22/06/2014 17:25

When else is a working person supposed to mow the lawn?
Before 9am or after 9pm on a Sunday would be unreasonable but not many people are sleeping at 5pm. YABU

NormHonal · 22/06/2014 17:25

DH and I have been debating this all afternoon...when would be ok? We haven't mowed it earlier as our neighbours on one side have been out in their garden. But it needs doing. Today.

Is 6pm ok? After 7pm we will disturb children's bedtimes...and today is the only day we can do it! Confused

Xcountry · 22/06/2014 17:25

5am I would be pissed, but 5pm?? no, you are unreasonable

JennyOnTheBlocks · 22/06/2014 17:25

Ffs

OwlCapone · 22/06/2014 17:26

I wish I could start my mower, I'd go out and mow my lawn now.

Happydutchmummy · 22/06/2014 17:26

I think you need to flip the percentages round, 99% of people would consider this perfectly acceptable, but there is always the remaining1% who you simply can't please.

restandpeace · 22/06/2014 17:27

I was having a lovely bbq when ndn decided to use their petrol lawn mower to cut their teeny garden. Hmmpf

Essexgirlupnorth · 22/06/2014 17:27

Frankly I would rather someone was moving their lawn than having to put up with my neighbour playing what she thinks as music very loud

HarrySnotter · 22/06/2014 17:27

I'm missing something here, whats the problem with 5pm?

Minesril · 22/06/2014 17:28

Depends. Is he doing it topless sipping diet coke?

In all seriousness - nah doesn't bother me. It's one of the sounds of summer. And I love the smell of cut grass.
