For me, it's watching washing on the line. DH thinks i'm a loon.

There's just something about watching clean washing blowing in the breeze that fills me with a sense of general wellbeing. If i'm stressed or grumpy, it instantly makes me feel better. I don't know why.

What is it for you?

They have to be distant mind. Loses it's magic when they're under your window screaming "CHLOE!!!! Give me my scooter BACK!!"

TalisaMaegyr · 22/06/2014 11:11

You lot inspired me to clean my house this morning. 3 hours it took me. And 2 loads of washing out on the line, DP is cutting the grass. Shall have a lovely relaxed afternoon knowing it's all done Grin

You remind me of Terry Pratchett's Susan Sto Helit

..she enjoys listening to the sound of children playing while she is reading, but always positions herself at such a distance that she is unable to hear what the children are saying, lest she find it unsettling.

Come to think of it reading Pratchett gives me a feeling of wellbeing because he has a humorous and kindly eye for humanity while at the same time an acute grasp of our foibles and failings. Life affirming in the best way.

Reading Alice Munro does that for me Northlight. The clarity and domesticity.

Sunshine
Flowers
Dc' fresh hair and softness
Good music

The usual really.

Big sun setting skies. Warm breezes. My children snuggling close enough that I can smell their hair. Being able to see greenery and trees from the window. Early evening solitary dog walks or weekend morning dog walks, when theirs not much traffic around. Basking in the sun. Any live music. Being shut away in the kitchen baking or cooking something of my choosing, listening to the radio uninterrupted. That would be radio 4 mid-week, radio 2 on a late Saturday afternoon and 6 music on a Sunday. It's guaranteed to take me out of a bad mood.

bryte · 22/06/2014 13:09

there's not theirs

MadeMan · 22/06/2014 13:15

Busy doing nothing. Sometimes just sitting or lying down alone doing absolutely nothing is the best tonic I can ever have.

Easy life, peace and quiet; that's all I've ever wanted. Smile

Plomino · 22/06/2014 13:17

Walking up our fields of a summers evening to check the horses over if they're out all night . Usually done with a glass or two of wine , and watching the greyhounds rooting round till one catches the others eye , and they suddenly take off for home like the clappers , suddenly realising slightly too late that they're getting to the yard , and whirling their whippy tails round and round in the delusional hooe it might slow them down faster .

Chasing and actually catching a suspect , most of whom are usually less than half my age . Although that's not immediate well being , I have to catch my breath first !

BadLad · 22/06/2014 13:18

The smell of grass cut just a few minutes earlier.

Waking up and feeling tired, then looking at the alarm clock and finding out that there are still three hours before you have to get up.

United losing at Old Trafford (bless you, David Moyes).

Getting on a plane and finding empty seats around you.

GarlicJuneBlooms · 22/06/2014 13:38

Diazepam Grin

I only got a couple of weeks' worth to see me through a tough patch. Shame, I can totally see why people got addicted to it!

plumpthecushionsmrs · 22/06/2014 13:40

Knowing I've given my DS a really good day - watching him playing happily with other kids when we're camping for example.

Another one here for clean washing on the line, a clean house and fresh bedding.

Eating in the garden on a sunny day.

Camping in the summer, all that fresh air.

Chilling out listening to music.
