to think the 'common law/freeman on the land' thing is a whole load of bollocks?

I've come across a few people over the last few years that take it very seriously and bang on at length about how the police and courts have no authority over them as they are self declared 'freemen'. Something to do with common law being the only true law in Britain, I think? And not having to wear bike helmets or pay for TV licenses or repay your debts also seem important to the ones I've had the dubious pleasure of meeting.

A couple I met at the weekend have taken the biscuit though and not registered their baby's birth because apparently this will mean said baby grows up to be a 'freeman' (she's actually a girl but the term appears to be freeman anyway). They believe quite firmly that to register her birth will mean that the law assumes her and her name (which is a fucking corker, of course) are one and the same and that only by NOT registering her birth can she be free to be a human being. Quite what this actually means is a mystery to me and tbh the mumbo jumbo they gave me by way of an answer leads me to suspect they don't really know either Hmm

I've tried to read up on it but all the info I can find is written in a style you'd expect of an paranoid, delusional, and possibly hallucinating chimpanzee let loose with a legal dictionary.

So AIBU to think this is bollocky woo of the most fucking ridiculous type? Or is someone going to come along and actually enlighten me as to wtf its all about, preferably in plain English with no pseudo-legalese?

Mavericklovesgoose · 19/01/2015 20:41

Nope, try again. Doesn't mention "law of the land" you can even use Google if you're easily confused, which clearly you are

DawnMumsnet · 19/01/2015 20:45

@wtaylor198622

ALSO YOU'LL NOTICE IM USING A DIFFERENT ACCOUNT AS MY PASSWORD HAS BEEN CHANGED WITHOUT ME DOING SO. IM LOCKED OUT OF MY ACCOUNT I USED ABOVE, IF IT DOESN'T WORK WHY AM I HAVING ATTEMPTS TO KEEP ME QUIET??? SEEMS KIND OF ODD DOESNT IT. you cannot take any statement as true on this forum as when you start telling the truth and explaining things they try and lock you out. no wonder your all anti free man , because your moderators never give them a chance for you to find out. enjoy the police state you are funding ever so well. you know what comes next removal of "your" rights. especially freedom of speech!

Actually, wtaylor, we were fine with your posts until you started making personal attacks. We banned you because you were calling folk on this thread arseholes - which counts as a personal attack, if you want to take a wee look at our Talk Guidelines.

For some reason, Now I'm thinking of Cato from the Pink Panther ambushing his imaginary Watch Commander fireman chum, when he comes to check his plug points. Got to keep those martial art skills honed for when all the immigrants and benefit claimants come to take all you money by force. Once they've got past the gates, dogs, and machine guns of course.

CupidStuntSurvivor · 19/01/2015 20:51

Any more assumptions you'd like to make about me wtaylor? Or words you'd like to put into my mouth about what aikaido is? You're making yourself look pretty thick.

Barefootgirl · 19/01/2015 22:31

I am deeply, deeply confused. This 350k apartment with gated security and it's own fire service and Watchmen is in the depths of the countryside, surrounded by unlit roads gritted by farmers (reAlly?). It's an apartment, but wtaylor says he owns the land (again, possible but unlikely).

Spero · 19/01/2015 22:34

Are you going to answer my question WTaylor?

Would you care to explain how your freeman philosophy actually works in a real live court. My especial interest is care proceedings where your dangerous foolishness has some real life horrible consequences for desperate and vulnerable people.

Can you tell me how it works for them?

Would you like the link to the rational Wiki 'notable Freeman successes' again?

Spero · 19/01/2015 22:39

Wtaylor - who built your mansion and fitted your security gates? Was it by any chance people who might have been educated in a state school? If you do get hit by a car on one of your unadopted country roads, are you wearing a tag that says 'no ambulance please'.

You can't opt out of society unless you live off grid in a yurt on a mountain. Every single day you benefit from the wider society that we all contribute to. And you think you are entitled to benefit but not pay.

Strange that you are so upset by use of the word 'parasite'. What word should I be using?

RandomNPC · 19/01/2015 22:41

Lol, Spero, he was banned ages ago. We will never know his musings again.
Truly, a prophet in not honoured in his own time.

Spero · 19/01/2015 22:55

Can't he get another account? Come on WTaylor! Rage, rage, rage against censorship! Shine a light for the Freeman Truth! Tell me all about the Magna Carta in lingering detail!

Don't let this thread die.

RandomNPC · 19/01/2015 23:01

I think he's gone back to the David Icke forums. He'll be telling them how to get out of speeding fines by repeating the magic words:
"By the power of Grayskull!!"

RandomNPC · 19/01/2015 23:02

He's had two, obviously a master of disguise; he added '22' to his old username.

davidcameron8081 · 19/01/2015 23:15

wtf??

VivaLeBeaver · 19/01/2015 23:16

Your arguments make you appear quite dim.

Do you really think the farmers pay for the grit themselves out the goodness of their hearts? Or do you think maybe the councils buy the grit and pay the farmers? I live in the country as well and that's what happens here.

Will your private insurance send a private ambulance to you in an emergency? Do you have a private GP?

Would you really like to live in a country where nobody paid any taxes so there were no schools, etc? A totally uneducated, illiterate population?

There wouldn't be any plumbers or electricians. No doctors, not even in the private hospitals.

The food you buy, the goods you buy all arrive in your local shops by the road network. Paid for by tax payers.

You're a total sponger.

davidcameron8081 · 19/01/2015 23:17

how doe's this freeman stuff work?

VivaLeBeaver · 19/01/2015 23:17

And I sincerely hope you get caught and get a big prison sentence. In a prison paid for by tax payers. You can argue about common law as you're dragged into your prison cell im sure.

RandomNPC · 19/01/2015 23:17

It doesn't, it's cobblers.

davidcameron8081 · 19/01/2015 23:18

vivalabeaver he was banned ages ago, its on the same page

davidcameron8081 · 19/01/2015 23:20

whats it all about though, i was a video on youtube and this guy thought he'd drive his merc on motorway with no tax/mot/ins/driving licence and they arrested him and crushed his car dmurphy is his youtube id

VivaLeBeaver · 19/01/2015 23:20

The freeman stuff doesn't work.

Legally the police don't have the right to request your name and address unless they're arresting you. So there's some interesting YouTube videos where the police stop someone for being a bit of a prat and ask them their name. The prat will correctly say they don't have to provide their name. Police often look a bit panicky at this point and radio for help. Prat generally spends ten minutes jumping up and down screeching about being a freeman of the land and then buggers off. Police think fuck it and go and find something better to do.

davidcameron8081 · 19/01/2015 23:21

i read about some man over board stuff in court.
i bet they got a few years for contempt

VivaLeBeaver · 19/01/2015 23:21

I thought he'd managed to circumnavigate the ban by changing his user name.

davidcameron8081 · 19/01/2015 23:22

oh , ive seen some video's on youtube but it never end well does it?
how do they not pay tax?

davidcameron8081 · 19/01/2015 23:23

probably gave up trying, what an idiot! put em in prison i say
