to ask when the memo went out to say that no one eats sandwiches anymore

and that we all have such delicate constitutions that eating bread gives us an attack of the vapours and means we need a lie down.

I can only assume that it was on the same memo that said that we can only eat quinoa that we have knitted ourselves or organic home grown couscous.

But I had a sandwich for lunch today! Why did nobody tell me? Sad

DeepThought · 29/05/2014 18:26

Too much bread gives me tummy ache, so eating sandwiches every day would be a Bad Idea

AhoyMcCoy · 29/05/2014 18:27

I had a sandwich for lunch, followed by a slice of cheese on toast, followed by a slice of Nutella on toast. No such thing as "too much bread" for me!

DuckandCat · 29/05/2014 18:27

Tell that to the greedy bastards who bought all the chicken and stuffing sandwiches from M&S and left me with salmon and cucumber for lunch Angry

Yama · 29/05/2014 18:27

Well, I got the memo about a year and a half ago.

Waltonswatcher1 · 29/05/2014 18:28

Yabu
Couscous is full of gluten too .
Quinoa is also ethically dodgy .
Please try harder to be irritating !

Pancakeflipper · 29/05/2014 18:28

I didn't see that memo either. What will I do with all that egg I mushed up with mayo earlier for picnic sarnies tomorrow. Perhaps I will take the risk in the hope our fellow picnikers have not received the memo either. Or perhaps I will be vilified and we have to emigrate to another egg sarnie eating country.

JennyOnTheBlocks · 29/05/2014 18:28

Mass produced bread is shit, I can't eat it every day either

And is this a TAAT?

MummyPigsFatTummy · 29/05/2014 18:29

I am doing slimming world and bread is too high in 'syns' to be worth it. Giving it up seems to be doing me no harm at all. I haven't noticed many other people giving up sarnies though.

DeepThought · 29/05/2014 18:29

Oh lawks is it a TAAT?

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 29/05/2014 18:31

EVERYONE around me still eats sandwiches every day. Family, friends, colleagues, strangers.

Wickeddevil · 29/05/2014 18:31

DNBU. Sanctimonious fuckers.

I even eat white bread. AndCake.

KellyHopter · 29/05/2014 18:31

The memos are being issued in waves, alphabetical order based on surname.

It's much like tax credits renewals in that sense.

As far as I'm aware all memos should be out by mid July. Don't fret. Or of your surname is in the A-M range then maybe give the Gluten Helpline a call?

Pancakeflipper · 29/05/2014 18:32

What's A TAAT ? Is that another memo I missed?

Chippednailvarnish · 29/05/2014 18:32

I like sandwiches. Just not every single day, especially when they were made the night before and left in a fridge.

JennyOnTheBlocks · 29/05/2014 18:33

Thread About A Thread

Innit

StealthPolarBear · 29/05/2014 18:34

yes an instead of sandwiches we all eat those breadless paninis, wraps and toasties :o

StealthPolarBear · 29/05/2014 18:35

my surname begins with T
so I have until 2017ish to still eat sandwiches

Pipbin · 29/05/2014 18:37

It's not a thread about a thread as such, but something that was brought up on the 'my au pair doesn't eat sandwiches' thread, to which everyone replied that if they eat sandwiches they are ill and that NO ONE eats sandwiches every day.

OP posts:
JennyOnTheBlocks · 29/05/2014 18:38

I went to lunch with a good friend, she suggested a sandwich bar to meet at

She picked all the filling out and left the bread, said it upset her stomach to eat it . . .why she didn't just have a salad

SybilRamkin · 29/05/2014 18:38

Yawn. The number of people who claim that eating too much bread makes them feel 'ill' is ridiculous, studies have shown that only a tiny proportion of these people have a genuine issue with either yeast or gluten. Most of them are 'trendies' jumping on the bandwagon, although most of them also genuinely believe they are intolerant.

Idjits.

JennyOnTheBlocks · 29/05/2014 18:40

Maybe they have IBS, Sybil?

candycoatedwaterdrops · 29/05/2014 18:41

No one said that people do not each sandwiches anymore, just not that everyone eats sandwiches. Obvs!

YABU as it is blatantly a thread about a thread.

Pipbin · 29/05/2014 18:48

But Candy, some of people said that they don't know anyone who eats sandwiches every day.

And anyway, even if it is a TAAT, I'm only being lighthearted and I was after the opinion of people who hadn't read the other thread.

Really I just wanted to know that I wasn't alone in being able to eat bread without having to take to my bed for a week.

OP posts:
Yama · 29/05/2014 18:50

I also got the memo about no longer being allowed to say 'Yawn' on threads.
