To think the School overreacted in Expelling Pupil and calling Police for a stunt, when a "bollocking would have been enough".

Jacob Dowdle, a year 13 Pupil at Altrincham Grammar school on the last day of term May 16, put a paper plate with whipped cream in to his year heads face.

This was a very "Stupid" thing to do, but no harm was meant or injury caused yet the school called the Police and summary expelled him. The teacher was seeking a prosecution for the stunt, when she was not injured The teacher although upset , should have had the grace to except that it was a poor stunt , ( or like most teachers on the last day taken it on the chin as overexcited students behaviour).

The teacher's position isn't untenable at all!

She might decide that she's had enough of over indulged gobshites, which would be understandable, but she's done nothing wrong. Her professional standing is unaffected, surely? Confused

Smokepole, I have to pull you up on your comment about calling pupils at AGSB "silly over privileged boys"
AGSB is one of a few selective grammar schools in this area. My son worked damned hard to get into this school (it is also a 5 minute walk away as opposed to a bus journey to the nearest non selective).
We are not wealthy, nor are most of the children who go to the grammars in Trafford.
Rant over.

I do, however, fully support the school on this matter and have also emailed the governors saying so.

Please do not tar all the hard working well behaved pupils at this school with the same brush as Jacob Dowdle.

Good point well made Frisky

I posted a link to this thread in the staffroom in case any teachers / teaching assistants want to add their thoughts.

Katz · 30/05/2014 08:14

Groovee - what was the bbc take?

I'm in full support of the teacher, school and head. I hope the expulsion is upheld at appeal.

FriskyMare · 30/05/2014 08:18

Thank you Lumpy, it gets a bit tiresome when pupils at AGSB or AGGS are labelled as posh, when in truth they are bright children who work hard and come from ordinary average homes.
I will agree we have our fair share of £500k plus houses in this area, unfortunately mine isn't one of them Sad Envy Grin

LumpySpacedPrincess · 30/05/2014 08:23

Dd will probably end up going to grammar and I'm dead common. Grin

Dh went to grammar, he's really common! also a proper genius too.

I think when people talk about entitlement it's because some young men feel very enabled by society to do what they want. And if ya don't like it, then you don't have a sense of humour.

GoblinLittleOwl · 30/05/2014 08:25

Just seen this uncouth young man, and the video of his action which was clearly NOT funny, on Breakfast Programme, hoping his charm will work on the public; 'I only', 'I just,' 'it was only a prank' 'I would like to apologise'. I hadn't realized he was in the sixth form of a grammar school; even more shame on him, and shame on Naga for saying this is just what happens on Leaving Day all over the country; egg throwing, custard pie throwing. Really? Full support to school and staff.

Katz · 30/05/2014 08:29

Missed the BBC breakfast, was the bloke Lawrence there promoting his latest employee?

WhereTheWildlingsAre · 30/05/2014 08:43

The BBC breakfast was quite straight forward as both experts they had on supported the teacher to the clear irritation of the interviewers.

So they threw in a comment that contributors on their FB and twitter were not as supportive of the teacher. Went to have a look and wish I hadn't Sad

WhereTheWildlingsAre · 30/05/2014 08:45

here, a little way down

LumpySpacedPrincess · 30/05/2014 09:09

If you open up all the comments it actually tells a different story, most people seem to think this was unacceptable.

Think it's very telling that he has said if he could go back he'd apologise but not that he wouldn't do it again! He seems to think the problem is he didn't say sorry rather than he shouldn't had done it in the first place.

I think not apologising and helping to get the video of Facebook is what got him expelled rather than suspended. A fulsome and genuine apology would have gone a long way.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 30/05/2014 09:26

If a girl did this do you think anyone would be sympathetic? I am so sick of the victim being blamed just because it's a woman or a "humourless" teacher.

You can bet all the people who support it would be so thrilled if he jumped out and pied them, then uploaded the footage.

How. They. Would. Laugh.

Simplesusan · 30/05/2014 09:26

What an entitled little shit.

As others have said what a coincidence that he didn't do it to a male teacher.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 30/05/2014 09:27

Tiggy that's spot on.

TiggyD · 30/05/2014 09:28

I am the voice of reason.

Agggghast · 30/05/2014 09:29

Sadly this comes down to a middle aged woman being slapped in the face by a young man and society condoning it as 'high jinks'. His parents have not commented, I wonder why. I would feel any mother whose daughter comes home with this man would be very worried.

WhereTheWildlingsAre · 30/05/2014 09:40

yes, you are right... there are better comments as you pull them down. I got massively irritated by the first three and decided to stop for my own health!

nochips01 · 30/05/2014 09:46

I think it is irrelevant if the plate was paper or china or plastic. It is still assault.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 30/05/2014 10:06

She was slapped in the face then to add insult to injury film of it was circulated. How anyone can think this is right scares me, but then lots of things scare me at the moment.

LtEveDallas · 30/05/2014 10:15

I said on Twitter that I bet he wouldn't have done this to his 6Ft Gym Teacher...Funnily enough the Lawrence bloke didn't reply to that, although when I said Dowdle was a male 'picking' a smaller female to humiliate he said "he's only 5ft 6". Way to miss the point.

Joysmum · 30/05/2014 10:21

Holy cow, I wasn't expecting to see it done with such force. It wasn't a gentle custard pieing, that plate was splatted with force.
