to think wearing underwear to bed is nasty?

CrayolaCocaColaRocknRolla · 21/05/2014 16:41

DM used to tell me "wearing underwear to bed is very unhygienic and can lead to thrush" so I've never worn undercrackers to bed, unless wearing sanpro and don't wear pjs.
aibu to think it's weird that other people wear boxers/nickers to bed? Just because I've been told it's not hygienic?

Poo crumbs are exactly as described. I've seen people flapping about them on here a few timesGrin I've never seen one, personally, because I'm an adult who can wipe her arse properly. I also wash, so...Hmm

YY to clean sheet for your bum. I like that, I think that's what I'll call it from now on.

'Brb DP, just gonna get ready for bed and change my bums sheets'

nokidshere · 21/05/2014 22:39

Perhaps there is commercial mileage in a mattress-air conditioning unit. You could attach it to the foot of your bed and it could blast gently circulate a constant flow of air around your nether regions

Love love love this idea!

I sleep naked - all windows open all the time and a fan going all night every night

NuggetofPurestGreen · 21/05/2014 22:40

Erm I wear knickers to bed...and they are the same ones I've been wearing all day Shock

Not really understanding why people put on clean knickers for bed, isn't that a waste? I get it if you've just come out of shower (although I wouldn't bother putting any on then) or if discharge issues but otherwise why?

hellymelly · 21/05/2014 23:07

I am chilly all year round really. Would wear pjs, with (clean) pants underneath, but dd2 likes to snuggle next to me at night with her toes on my thighs, and she hates it if I have pjs on, unless they are silk! So usually long nightie, soft bra, and pants. I can't sleep braless. I probably wouldn't always bother with the pants under a long nightie though, but I live in fear of dds foot ramming my fanjo in the night, pants give it a bit of protection! I always wear pants with pjs. I don't like the seams. Pants protect your parts!!

emotional83 · 21/05/2014 23:09

Really op? I've never gone it bed without underwear? I couldn't imagine sleeping without them

Shewhowines · 21/05/2014 23:17

The fabric of pjs move all around you during the night. I don't feel clean unless I wear pants too. Don't bother putting clean ones on though. I just shower in the morning.

Now wearing a bra to bed is strange. I tried it when I had backache once and I thought it may have been the weight of my boobs. Bloody uncomfortable.

Writerwannabe83 · 21/05/2014 23:20

I hate wearing knickers to bed!!!

I usually wear some light cotton pyjama bottoms and depending on the weather I will wear a pyjama top too.

It's very are I go to bed completely naked but I have done on some occasions,

Definitely no knickers in bed though - far too uncomfortable!!

I like to think that we all need airing down there at some point during the day Grin

weatherall · 21/05/2014 23:24

No wonder some people are doing so many loads of washing!

thebestlaidplans · 21/05/2014 23:40

When I was a little kid and away on a camping weekend with the Brownies, an older girl told me that if you sleep in your undies you'll get bum rot.
Therefore, I don't.
Also, if you sleep in a bra, you'll get tit rot.
That's what she said and so that's what I believe.

JohnCusacksWife · 21/05/2014 23:44

I used to sleep naked pre children. After they were born I started wearing PJs as I couldn't be arsed having to find my dressing gown every time they woke during the night. Now I wear a soft bra (trying desperately to avoid droop!), knickers (usually clean as I shower in the evening) and either a vest top or short nightie. Prob would have gone back to sleeping naked but DH let slip that he often comes to bed to find me having kicked off the duvet and lying on my tummy with my bum in the air. Would not be a pretty naked sight!

cerealqueen · 21/05/2014 23:45

Knickers under pj bottoms, they get changed every night, and morning. Pj bottoms every 2/3/4 days depending on season. x

cerealqueen · 21/05/2014 23:45

sos for x

Mignonette · 21/05/2014 23:49

I have to sleep with my butt poking out of the duvet anyway- butt and one foot have to be exposed otherwise I feel suffocated.

So there are times when I need to wear a pair of cotton sleep boy shorts for decency (like when somebody comes in to bring me breakfast in bed and I am butt out) and still asleep).

ILoveCoreyHaim · 22/05/2014 00:00

I can't sleep without a bra. Bottomless can take it or leave it depending on the weather but there is no way I could sleep without a bra.

PeppermintInfusion · 22/05/2014 00:11

I remember in the health ed lessons in school the woman going on about not wearing pants to bed to air your bits and that it was bad to wear a bra in bed too... I find pyjamas gross without pants as you wouldn't wear pants more than once, so why pjs and also a lot if pj material isn't nice against your bits. I wear fresh plain cotton pants under them instead. Though I do go braless.

whois · 22/05/2014 00:18

Sleeping in loose fitting sleep shorts or pjs is surely the best of both worlds? Stops body fluids getting on the sheets but isn't right against your vaj.

I like wearing loose fitting pjs but normally sleep naked with DP.

GatoradeMeBitch · 22/05/2014 01:34

I would love to sleep naked but the combined fear of fire/intruder/kid walking in to see me snoring away in all my spreadeagled glory puts me off.

I'm a light sleeper and I often wake because my pj bottoms or knickers are twisted Sad

ToffeeMoon · 22/05/2014 01:40

Unless you lie on your back, above the duvet, with your legs akimbo all night...how exactly are you airing the area?

Rubbish. I wear knickers in bed. Perfectly fine thank you. DH wears boxers. If we were both naked in there I'd definitely want to wash the sheets every day.

ScrambledEggAndToast · 22/05/2014 07:10

I wear my knickers to bed, would never occur to me not to. My DP doesn't yet wears his pj bottoms for 2-3 nights which to me is like wearing the same pair of boxers for 2-3 nights. He doesn't seem to get what I'm saying unfortunately Grin

londonrach · 22/05/2014 07:23

I wear pants under my pjs. Never had any problems. Think its more hygiene. Everyone does it different

londonrach · 22/05/2014 07:26

I wear two pants a day. One during the day and one under pjs and have a shower every day. M&s 100% high leg cotton

CrayolaCocaColaRocknRolla · 22/05/2014 09:25

I sleep naked while OH sleeps with boxers on. I was just wondering what other people thought of it Grin
I don't understand the thrush thing. I've never had it! Byt my Dsis and DM get it loads, don't understand why at all.
scrambled my ex did that. He wore the same pair of pjs to bed every night, washed them on a sunday. It really did my nut in.
I was just interested to see what other people did and if what my mother siad is an old wives tale, clearly it is!

This has been quite an eye-opener for me. I'm surprised at how many wear pants and even a bra in bed.

After my bedtime shower, the very last thing I would want to do is put on clothes before getting into bed. It would just be uncomfortable.

To me, clothes only have one function - to keep out the cold. If I'm warm enough about the house without them then I don't need them.
But we're all different. As they say, YMMV.

Dubjackeen · 22/05/2014 10:48

you need to give it a good waft overnight and let the air get to it

Do you sleep with no covers and with your legs apart and your arse in the air? No? Then stop being ridiculous.

This made me laugh. Grin

4seasons · 22/05/2014 11:31

Cotton nightie , no pants . Lovely ! Hate the restriction of bras and pants anyway ... take bra off ( not a pretty sight ) if I am sure no one will come to the door .
Shower at least once daily and wash sheets regularly . And just in case you are all too young to realise ... post menopause all juices dry up so fewer bodily fluids to worry about ( not that I have ever worried about my own , just DH's.. ..damp patch )
DH sleeps naked .... he is an optimist !
