to think wearing underwear to bed is nasty?

CrayolaCocaColaRocknRolla · 21/05/2014 16:41

DM used to tell me "wearing underwear to bed is very unhygienic and can lead to thrush" so I've never worn undercrackers to bed, unless wearing sanpro and don't wear pjs.
aibu to think it's weird that other people wear boxers/nickers to bed? Just because I've been told it's not hygienic?

I lay on my front normally with one leg bent and the other one stretched out diagonally so my lady parts generally get aired!

Always wondered what would happen I a fire so I keep a best and shorts folded on my bedside table lol

Whereisegg · 21/05/2014 17:19

ICan I know a man who folds his clothes in a certain way and leaves his shoes by the bed for that very reason.
I would be running from the house naked Grin

Andrewofgg · 21/05/2014 17:23

Interviewer What do you wear in bed?
Marilyn Monroe Chanel No 5.
Interviewer Don't you have anything on?
MM Yeah, the radio.

OwlCapone · 21/05/2014 17:27

so my lady parts generally get aired!

So, your arse is hanging out from under the duvet?

DuckyMoDuckyMoMo · 21/05/2014 17:29

My duvet ends up on the heap on the floor.

Dolallytats · 21/05/2014 17:30

*Nunyabiz', I'm so glad it's not just me. If I sleep naked, I dream someone breaks into my house and gets in the bedroom Confused

BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted · 21/05/2014 17:34

I've never felt the need to give my lady-parts an airing. I need to ponder this for a bit longer.

If I bathe/shower before bed whether I wear clean knicks or not depends on what I'll be wearing. T-shirt: clean knicks. PJs or nightie: no knicks. Bathe/shower in the morning: same knicks. Fall into bed pissed and no shower: same knicks, possibly full set of clothing including overcoat and shoes.

Nunyabiz · 21/05/2014 17:36

Dolally heehehe yep I've had that one.

Not wanting to derail but we had friends stay over once and one of them got up in the night to warm up a bottle for her baby... I bumped into her downstairs starkers! Completely starkers in our house! I thought surely if you sleep naked at home you might put pyjamas on in someone else's home?

bouquetofpencils · 21/05/2014 17:38

Such a mum thing. Let the air get to your bits.
I normally wear knickers, they are clean and cotton and have never had thrush.
I think it is weird not to as I change knickers everyday but I don't change my bed sheets everyday.
Wearing same pj bottoms everyday without knickers is more likely to be unhygienic IMO.

nahidontthinkso · 21/05/2014 17:39

I always wear pants to bed in case i get burgled. I have a weird fear of a burgler coming into my room so decided its best to be covered up for the confrontation/rape/stabbing that my occur. Its not an irrational fear, i have been burgled before except i wasn't in that time thank god.

Definitely a clean pair every morning and every night though and only cotton.

troubleinstore · 21/05/2014 17:39

err.. what's the difference if you're lying down wearing undies i.e. in bed or up and about as in the daytime, as to wether or not you get thrush? I don't get it?

expatinscotland · 21/05/2014 17:40

Why do you care? Get a life.

TheFairyCaravan · 21/05/2014 17:40

Clean pyjamas every night here.

If I didn't wear anything in bed I'd change the sheets daily.

DuckyMoDuckyMoMo · 21/05/2014 17:41

Nunyabiz

I wear pjs if I have people stay over! Recently shared a hotel room with my best friend would of been awkward otherwise Wink

VinoTime · 21/05/2014 17:42

Depends how I feel. Sometimes it's just pj's, sometimes pants and a tank top, naked if I have wonderful clean bedding on Grin Tonight is clean bedding night. This you understand, will probably be the highlight of my week.

Oh, and the main causes of thrush are an underlying medical problem or an imbalance to your immune system caused by an illness or a course of antibiotics. Poor feminine hygiene can be a factor, but more often than not it's because of the above reasons Smile I've never understood why folk automatically assume you keep downstairs dirty if you have thrush. I've had it a few times - mostly as a reaction to antibiotics and once when I was really run down and falling apart at the seams!

DownstairsMixUp · 21/05/2014 17:45

I very rarely air my fanny (!!) and rarely get thrush. Clean knickers at night and a clean pair in the morning.

I really really couldn't care less what others wear in bed.

I have slept in all stages of dress and undress, with and without boots and rifle, and I've come througn it.....

ICanSeeTheSun · 21/05/2014 17:56

Parent say some strange things.

Like sitting too close to the tv will give you square eyes, eating carrots will make you see in the dark, eating crust gives you curly hair.

coldwater1 · 21/05/2014 18:13

Poo crumbs?!!Shock Wtf lol

Joules68 · 21/05/2014 18:32

And worms... What about those!

Sallyingforth · 21/05/2014 18:46

Nothing worn in bed here. As to the fire thing I have a coat hanging by the front door. Not for that purpose though - in warm weather I'm usually naked around the house so the coat is there to slip on to answer the door.

Salazar · 21/05/2014 18:47

I don't think any option is unhygienic providing that you wash regularly.

I sleep naked because I like to be free Grin

Aeroflotgirl · 21/05/2014 18:51

Each to their own and all that. PJs for me all the way and under crackers too, don't feel right without.

HolidayCriminal · 21/05/2014 18:51

I find this idea that the private parts need regular airing very amusing. Is it just private parts or do all body bits need nightly airing? Given some MNers phobias of feet, probably not.

Always worn pants at every possible moment; never had thrush.

Don't give a toss what other people actually do.
