Are these dirty habits or AIBU?

Some of DP's habits I find quite frankly repulsive and it's caused major rows between us.

Some of things he does which I find disgusting:
-Never washes his hands if he's done a wee
-when he empties his bowels, he'll only rinse his wiping hand with water

-this morning I caught him drinking out of the milk bottle when it's no where near empty (and he has a brown tongue atm so it means no-one else can use it now and it was a 6 Pinter) Angry
-doesn't wash himself everyday

I could go on but these are the main issues that are driving me mad. He thinks IABU and gets very defensive when I confront him.

Well I don't wash daily, I shower twice a week on average. I certainly don't smell because I have the type of friends who would tell me
I only really use soap after poos too

The tongue thing is grim though

expatinscotland · 11/05/2014 17:32

I would have dumped him ages ago. Minger.

BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted · 11/05/2014 17:32

Fucks' sake. I live on my own and have never drunk milk straight from the container.

OP, you know you need to leave. I hope you find the strength to do so before you strangle him (with gloved hands and anti-bac gel at hand). No bloody wonder you don't sleep in the same room as him. I wouldn't want to sleep in the same effing house......

ImperialBlether · 11/05/2014 17:32

HighwayDragon, sorry to tell you but you can't always smell yourself. Unless you are washing every bit of your body in the sink then you really need to shower more often.

HighwayDragon · 11/05/2014 17:37

Honestly I do not smell, dh would (and has before) told me if I smell, and I know my closest friends would too. Some people just aren't smelly. I shower every other day when its hot, though mainly because of the suncream

I wouldn't smell if I didn't shower, but I wouldn't feel clean either.

partialderivative · 11/05/2014 17:50

These sorts of threads crop up quite frequently on MN, and I am always baffled by the.

I am baffled as to what MNers think people do to wash their arse in those countries and regions where there is no running water. (ie. the majority of the human population)

I am baffled as to how some MNers have figured that the human race has survived for so long without the essential modern life gadgets such as a toilet

I am baffled as to why some MN posters think they are in some way morally superior to others by their Double-Dettol approach

So because other countries have little water or centuries passed without toilets it's superior to be revolted by lack of personal hygiene?

Well of it's all so ok then why are we bombarded with adverts for children dying because tey drink water infested with feacal matter and parasite eggs.

Why do you think people died so young.

Why are incidences of ontesyinal parasites so much higher ?

I'll stick to showering thanks.if it wasn't necessary then it wouldn't have been invented

Gileswithachainsaw · 11/05/2014 17:59

Intestinal

Cooroo · 11/05/2014 18:19

DP confirms doesn't wash hands after wee. Surely women get more in contact with wee than men do? I'm surprised OP even knows what he does??

TequilaMockingbirdy · 11/05/2014 18:48

This has actually knocked me sick. The dirty bastard.

ChickyEgg · 11/05/2014 18:50

Bleurgh!

Nanny0gg · 11/05/2014 18:51

Every male in my family washes their hands after going to the toilet.

And Surely women get more in contact with wee than men do? makes no sense. Do they not shake?

Sparklingbrook · 11/05/2014 18:52

the other countries thing is totally irrelevant to this thread. I assume the OP has a toilet and running water? Confused

expatinscotland · 11/05/2014 18:56

It never ceases so amaze me how minging some people are.

NeilDiamondRocks · 11/05/2014 19:02

I remember reading that you have to DRY your hands after washing, otherwise moist hands are a germ's playground. So it isn't enough to just wash them.

LuluJakey1 · 11/05/2014 19:06

DH washes his hands after loo, with antibacterial handwash- we both do. Bath or shower every day, sometimes twice if it's hot. Teeth cleaning routine morning and night, electric toothbrush, floss sticks, water pick and mouthwash. Anti P/Deodorants, aftershave/ perfume. No drinking from communal bottles or cartons. Clothes washed after worn once if item in close contact with body- underwear, shirts, T shirts etc. I clean loo seat, flush handle door handles with anti bact wipes- once or twice weekly.

I am sounding OCD but am not. Just clean. Not apologising for it.

LuluJakey1 · 11/05/2014 19:09

Sorry! Got carried away and didn't answer your question YANBU.
I would not share a house with him never mind a bed.

weatherall · 11/05/2014 19:12

I didn't use soap until my mid twenties. Didn't like the feel of it.

I've only had one vomiting bug in my entire life and I'm middle aged.

OP and DP obviously have different opinions. They are incompatible but I don't think one is 'right' and one is 'wrong'.

BitterAndOnlySlightlyTwisted · 11/05/2014 19:21

Weatherall you don't think it's manky not to wash your hands with soap and hot water after you've been for a shit? REALLY?

RoganJosh · 11/05/2014 19:29

I still don't understand what the cause of brown tongue is in a non smoker. I don't have to google, do I?
