It is a pretty working class street, some council, some privately owned houses. Not sure if that is relevant but WHY the fuck would you advertise the fact that you are a fuckwit? All of the people with the notices up are older people - older than me, which is 43 (im not older!!!! - ok, maybe a bit).

Its pretty worrying really that what i would normally see as very respectable folk have been sucked in by this bullshit?

This is a conservative ward, and although dissilussioned with the previous gov i have always voted labour - i am going to have to vote bloody tory in a half beat effort to keep Ukip out of the area :(

My DD lives in a town with a ukip counsellor - its fucking dire and getting worse :(

So you're asking me to believe figures from an anti-immigration lobby group rather than those from the House of Commons library and the FT?

Its hard I admit to believe any figures on Migration and Immigration when we have had no border checks and the whole checking system is in chaotic dis array, all the figures are at best, conservative estimates.

NutjobBarbie · 11/05/2014 20:33

I'm just going to draw the mumsnet logo on my ballot Grin

MrsBlackthorn · 11/05/2014 20:33

Can you supply those stats? Because the ONS, Nomis and .gov.uk don't support what you're saying.

www.gov.uk/government/collections/migration-statistics

The data set I'm referring to is the ONS's Long Term International Migration annual release:

www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/migration1/long-term-international-migration/2012/table-2-01a.xls

BeyondRepair · 11/05/2014 20:34

I wonder if...the reason for not ever taking down numbers entering the UK properly by the Labour government was because like many Lefties on these threads they have said time and again, un controlled immigration from the EU doesn't bother them.

Icimoi · 11/05/2014 20:37

Then there's the fact that a large number of the British emigrants are either retired or in highly skilled jobs, not competing with natives for unskilled or semi-skilled work or demanding social housing.

Please tell me you don't seriously think that all EU immigrants to the UK can do no better than semi-skilled work and demand social housing. On the contrary, many are doing very skilled work, not least in the NHS which would be in major difficulty if immigrant doctors, nurses, therapists and support staff had to leave. And our universities would hate to restrict student immigration as they are heavily dependent on people who pay the higher overseas fees for providing their income. What we receive in taxes paid by immigrants outweighs what other immigrants receive by way of benefits.

Icimoi · 11/05/2014 20:45

Ah, Migration Watch. The organisation that predicted that from this year we would have 70,000 immigrants from Romania, subsequently revising that significantly down to 50,000 a year. Currently trying to explain away how come figures are more or less the same as they were last year, and that includes holidaymakers who have gone straight back at the end of their hols.

Icimoi · 11/05/2014 20:46

It always makes me laugh when people use the term "Lefties". Reminds me irresistibly of 6 year olds hurling what they imagine to be bad names at each other.

Martorana · 11/05/2014 20:51

Lefties as an insult makes me laugh every time. Particularly when associated with trendy, PC and bleeding heart.

Quite like Liberal as an insult too. As if being illiberal is a good thing to be.....

BeyondRepair · 11/05/2014 21:21

Oh no, lefites is just short hand for The Left....Its not meant to be insulting. Confused.

If I wanted to be insulting I could come up with more than....Lefites but certainly not as insulting as some of the terms on here used to describe others...

BeyondRepair · 11/05/2014 21:22

FYI Labour supporters also usually call themselves....Lefties.

Cortina2000 · 11/05/2014 21:53

Before you follow the corrupt media trend to slander UKIP and reduce yourself to name-calling. Maybe you should do some research to find out some FACTS about UKIP and what we stand for? It is easy to jump on the uneducated bandwagon of gossip, but it is more intelligent to know what you are arguing against. UKIP are 1. Not fascist (anti fascist actually). 2. UKIP are NOT racist. You cannot join UKIP if you have racist links or known racist views! 3. You should be proud that a political party is honest and expels those who are offensive (what other parties are doing that?). 4. We have Polish, Indian, and other races standing as MEP's. 5. We have Muslims, Sikh's etc standing as MEP's, so we are not secular either. We have no qualms to race, religion, colour etc, all that matters is that you are British and love your country. We ask for independence from the EU dictatorship, an end to the PC stranglehold on free speech. The activists who try to shout down UKIP with cries of 'racist', 'fascist' and other insults are mostly paid through EU funding. We are not even old fuddy duddies who want to go back to before the war, We are just normal British citizens who want our country back. From shoe-repairers, to electricians, from soldiers, to supermarket staff, from small business men, to the disabled, we want to be proud of our country again. The people who violently oppose us are traitors to there own land. We DO NOT slander, demonstrate with foul abuse, vandalise opponents advertising or try to silence the opposition with Nazi style rants and chants. Please learn about UKIP, we are NOT bad people. To those who say leaving the EU would destroy our country, I give you this www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/278491/Bruges_Group_SingleMarketAndWithdrawal.pdf

TalkinPeace · 11/05/2014 21:56

Protest votes are best done by spoiling ballots, not by voting for hypocritical freeloaders

Nigel Farridge makes most of his current income from EU allowances ....

MrsBlackthorn · 11/05/2014 21:57

"The activists who try to shout down UKIP with cries of 'racist', 'fascist' and other insults are mostly paid through EU funding"

Have you any evidence to support this? It's demonstrably not true.

MrsBlackthorn · 11/05/2014 22:00

Whereas Nigel Farage has openly admitted he uses EU funding which is supposed to pay for his office to campaign against EU membership.

There's only one party taking EU money and spending it on campaigns. UKIP.

Hypocrites as well as racists.

ravenAK · 11/05/2014 22:06

'4. We have Polish, Indian, and other races standing as MEP's'

Is Polish a race?

'From shoe-repairers, to electricians, from soldiers, to supermarket staff, from small business men, to the disabled'

Are 'the disabled' a discrete category then?

'The people who violently oppose us are traitors to there own land. '

The grammar police are getting violent now? Scary shit.

I suspect there are marginally brighter Kippers on this thread going ' oh ffs Cortina2000 nooooo...that's torn it...'

kinsorange · 11/05/2014 22:06

MrsDeVere, to answer your question upthread somewhat. It was not you that was muzzled. It was the electorate.
It became a taboo on here and elsewhere to even talk about immigration in public.

cortina I understand that UKIPs proposed policy would mean that no health services or education would be available to any immigrants for the first 5 years that they are here. I would expect this to result in similar restrictions for UK residents wanting to move abroad. Do you not envisage that it would have a major impact on future generations ability to take up education and employment in other countries?
Two further questions - you state that there are candidates from all ethnic and religious backgrounds. Is this the case for sexual orientation - do you have candidates who are gay and lesbian? What is the parties stance on gay marriage - as I cant see the answer to this on the UKIP website.

OneStepCloser · 11/05/2014 22:21

So Contina, what is it about UKIP that attracts Racists, Homophobes, Disabilist ect... To you party?

And, how do you justify UKIP MEPs abstaining from anything in Europe, apart from any votes to leave the EU. What exactly are your MEPs being paid a vast sum for?

Those who violently oppose us are traitors to there think you mean their own land. Classy statement.

TalkinPeace · 11/05/2014 22:25

UKIP MEPs are the most hypocritical of the lot
they take the tax free money that is more than the wildest dreams of many people in the UK
www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/eu/8441261/MEPs-vote-to-keep-world-beating-salaries-and-allowances.html
and do nothing useful with their time

freeloading bastards the lot of them

UKIP attracts people who want to earn £400,000.00 a year for doing bugger all.
Nuff said.

OneStepCloser · 11/05/2014 22:35

It's a shocking amount of money TalkinPeace

Cortina2000 · 11/05/2014 22:41

No such word as 'Disabilist' lol. Their stance on gay marriage is that it is acceptable providing someone with opposing religious convictions is not FORCED into performing the ceremony. Some of these questions I cannot answer as I do not know. I do not purport to know-it-all, why not do the research forn your particular gripe? Yes the 'allowance' is spent on the party, other MEP's from Labour, Conservative etc keep it for their own use! Which is better?...Onestepcloser, you pick up on my misspelling of 'there', but missed your own "To 'you' party"? lol. My apologies to the 'grammar police', is that the best you can do? RavenAK they are all'marginally more intelligent' than you, including me! Check the funding links of HopeNotHate etc. So neither hypocrites nor racists, neither disabilists(?) nor homophobic. Educate yourselves please, otherwise you are just media puppets.

thornrose · 11/05/2014 22:47

No such word as 'Disabilist' lol

From the Urban dictionary

disabilist This is an attitude or behaviour whereby people with a disability are, or have been discriminated against on the basis of their disability

It is a word that is commonly used now.
