It is a pretty working class street, some council, some privately owned houses. Not sure if that is relevant but WHY the fuck would you advertise the fact that you are a fuckwit? All of the people with the notices up are older people - older than me, which is 43 (im not older!!!! - ok, maybe a bit).

Its pretty worrying really that what i would normally see as very respectable folk have been sucked in by this bullshit?

This is a conservative ward, and although dissilussioned with the previous gov i have always voted labour - i am going to have to vote bloody tory in a half beat effort to keep Ukip out of the area :(

My DD lives in a town with a ukip counsellor - its fucking dire and getting worse :(

OP posts:
Icimoi · 10/05/2014 22:51

Tiggytape, no-one has suggested putting letters through UKIP supporters' doors. And I didn't ask for UKIP's rubbish to be put through my door, but they still did it.

funnyossity · 10/05/2014 22:55

Then you won't understand how your posts to aprilanne in particular read to me. You and Wicked have belittled her views and denied her her own/ her son's experience. The foreman essentially warned him off the job. Your response is he could learn Polish. Sorry but that is not a real world solution and as such is pretty patronising.

WickedWitchoftheNorthWest · 10/05/2014 22:56

Are you and Wicked employed by UKIP?

Just the kind of baseless propaganda load of bollocks I'd expect from a UKIP supporter. Don't let facts get in your way of your ridiculous accusations by all means!

turgiday · 10/05/2014 22:56

If you are a woman, gay or black and considering voting for UKIP, you really need to understand that UKIP's policies will directly harm you.

funnyossity · 10/05/2014 22:57

Funnily enough I am not a uKIP supporter. Confused

WickedWitchoftheNorthWest · 10/05/2014 22:59

I haven't denied her sons experiences at all. I have quoted her own words extensively and the fact is he was offered a job but decided not to work with Polish people. I have also quoted facts and statistics proving that getting rid of immigrants will make things worse economically and not better. But I guess if you don't have facts all you can do is accuse people of things like belittling and patronising instead of arguing your corner rationally and logically.

WickedWitchoftheNorthWest · 10/05/2014 23:00

So are you straight up BNP then? Or just a shit stirrer?

aprilanne · 10/05/2014 23:01

RIGHT ICIMOI now you are getting personal .my son gets no education .because A he can,t be main streamed .B they shut down our local special needs school . the only thing on offer was a resedential 50 miles away and no child of mine is going into care .and miss smart arse he is not intitled to legal aid we have already had the local LA to court and it cost over £ 3000

in lawyers fees because it was a civil action .not because i am not enforcing his right to an education .unless you have a disabled child you don,t know what the ,,,, you are talking about .

Even Nigel Farage had to admit leaving the EU and not having the pool of labour would lower GDP. My point has not been about macroeconomic figures but how some people have been adversely affected by immigration from the EU.

I am quite logical, thanks. I won't be voting UKIP but I can't demonise those that do. Where my emotion comes into it is that I feel these barracking attitudes will drive people who do feel aggrieved to vote UKIP. That's why I had late night rush to the head of paranoia that you could actually be promoting UKIP!

ginghamcricketbox · 10/05/2014 23:08

turgiday which policies are you on about

LackaDAISYcal · 10/05/2014 23:08

Some UKIP supporters are naive and stupid for believing what they read in the papers, some, dare I say it, have done and said some rather racist and cuntish things. If I see or hear a viewpoint that I believe is being fuelled by right wing, reactionary paranoia without having a grasp of the facts, I will call it and try to show the more balanced view. If that makes me illiberal...

inabeautifulplace · 10/05/2014 23:09

"SORRY ok there is open policy on european immigration .i mean do you see anyone from here just arriving in poland or where ever else by the bus load not likely"

Precisely this happened during the last recession. A significant number of people went to work in Germany. They even made a TV programme about it ;)

"and then being a drain on there services .i mean can you imagine going to any those country,s and wanting to change there way of life"

From my perspective, a person who is born, raised and educated in this country has been a permanent drain on services until they are contributing. An immigrant has a blank balance sheet upon arrival, but might cost the state services a bit more to support. Seems a reasonable trade off to me.

By the way, I suggest you have a conversation with a Pole about the experience of people arriving in your country and changing your way of life. Please come back and let us know how that goes.

funnyossity · 10/05/2014 23:09

I'll be a reincarnation of Hitler next!

Thanks for the laughs!

Icimoi · 10/05/2014 23:10

Your response is he could learn Polish. Sorry but that is not a real world solution and as such is pretty patronising.

Not it wasn't. You don't help your case by misrepresenting what other people say.

Icimoi · 10/05/2014 23:10

Sorry, that should be "No it wasn't".

funnyossity · 10/05/2014 23:11

I don't have a particular case. Just pointing out how you come across to me - a floating voter really.

aprilanne · 10/05/2014 23:12

well i suppose while my children were a drain from babies at least there father and i have contributed since we left school .

WickedWitchoftheNorthWest · 10/05/2014 23:14

And I' sorry for not being nicey nice about it but I am truly angry about the rise of UKIP and pretty scared too. I'm an immigrant in the UK and Jewish to boot and I see a hell of a lot of parallels to the rise of the Nazi party in what is going on.

I'm a 40% taxpayer and in perfect health and don't have kids yet I'm constantly being told people like me (immigrants) are a drain on the system. I am very happy that the taxes I pay go to help those most in need of benefits, pensions, tax credits, education, etc but I am not happy to be resented and vilified at the same time for being here.

Icimoi · 10/05/2014 23:14

Aprilanne, unless your youngest son has means which take him over legal aid limits, he will be entitled to legal aid to enforce his right to education. Legal Aid is available to those who qualify for it for civil actions. Calling me names won't change that. I suggest you phone Civil Legal Advice on 0845 345 4 345 on Monday morning if you don't believe me.

WickedWitchoftheNorthWest · 10/05/2014 23:15

Not laughing, this is serious so stop baiting and, if you have a point, defend it. Otherwise you're not helping.

turgiday · 10/05/2014 23:17

gingham - UKIP want to

  • Get rid of gay marriage and many of the legal protections for gay people
  • Get rid of paid maternity leave for all women
  • Stop all planned building of new social housing
  • Constantly has senior members saying clearly racist comments
funnyossity · 10/05/2014 23:18

"..if your son is really keen on getting a job he could think about learning Polish.."

Which bit have I misunderstood?

Icimoi · 10/05/2014 23:18

Tiggytape, the document I (jokingly) suggested posting through doors wasn't along the lines you suggest. It was no different from a general political leaflet. Are you suggesting that putting party political posters up in your window should prohibit people from posting any political material through your doors if it opposes the views of the party you support? Great idea, but it doesn't represent reality.

ginghamcricketbox · 10/05/2014 23:21

turgiday where does it say this or have you read it in the guardian
