to think my colleague was thoughtless and ruined my lunch?

Yesterday the canteen at work was closed so two work colleagues volunteered to drive and pick up lunch (we work in an area where it would take 15 minutes to walk to the nearest cafe and only have half an hour lunch.)

It was decided they would go to KFC and McDonalds. I had spent an hour previously complaining that I had got food poisoning last time I went to KFC. So I ordered from McDonalds and said to my colleague, please just get me the American burger of the week.

My colleague returned back with a Louisiana burger which is a chicken burger! When I said I had been complaining about getting food poisoning from KFC that it was common sense that I wouldn't want a chicken burger.

Their excuse was - they had other peoples lunches to get, I hadn't been specific and that they hadn't really listened when I complained about my food poisoning.

Yabu, totally.

Also it isn't "common sense" to think you have sworn off all chicken, for life because of a dodgy KFC experience.

I feel the urge to go totally off-point and lecture the OP about battery chicken, mass market farming, dodgy chain 'restaurants' but think I'll just stay and watch the show.

MamaMumra · 09/05/2014 15:09

I would apologise to the colleagues who went to get lunch for being so difficult, then thank them graciously for getting what you asked for.
And apologise for talking in such detail about food poisoning.
Maybe it was annoying to you, but you were BU in saying anything to them apart from 'thanks'

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 09/05/2014 15:13

Frankly, if someone had spent an hour talking to me about food poisoning I'd have bought them the wrong burger on purpose.

grovel · 09/05/2014 15:18

Bugger burgers.

As George V would have said in your predicament.

CeliaLytton · 09/05/2014 15:20

YABU but entertaining with your dramatics and total lack of logic, so thank you.

picnicbasketcase · 09/05/2014 15:25

You should have specified which state or US city beef product you required, so then you wouldn't have got Louisiana flavoured chicken. I think at the moment it's a Nevada beef burger.

Yabu.

BadgersNadgers · 09/05/2014 15:26

Any news on who ate the burger?

littlewhitebag · 09/05/2014 15:31

This thread is hilarious and now i want a chicken legend with salsa from McD with fries and a diet coke.

Oh, and OP YABU!

I want the OP to come back!

Stinkle · 09/05/2014 15:34

I think if you're going to be fussy, you need to be exact about what you want when your colleague is doing you a favour. Especially if they're ordering loads of stuff for other people as well

DH drives me nuts with this. If I'm going to the chip shop he won't tell me exactly what he wants, then moans because I don't come back with exactly what he wants

If you didn't want chicken, you should have said. Moaning that KFC gave you food poisoning (and I wouldn't have listened to that for an hour either) means to me that you don't want KFC.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 09/05/2014 15:34

Holy crap kato that looks amaze balls!

Changebagsandgladrags · 09/05/2014 15:34

I think it's only just changed to Nevada though. Earlier in the week it was Louisiana (although a beef one). Maybe the staff and your colleague got the wrong end of the stick and thought that was the American burger of the week.

I mean, it's a burger and Louisiana is in America.

But then again, maybe they did it on purpose and were sniggering at you from behind the photocopier.

loveliesbleeding1 · 09/05/2014 15:38

Fu

loveliesbleeding1 · 09/05/2014 15:38

BigRedBall · 09/05/2014 15:38

I really want a burger now...even a kfc. I want fatty food now...

loveliesbleeding1 · 09/05/2014 15:39

What happened there?
what I meant to say was fuck, I really want a big mac.

BigRedBall · 09/05/2014 15:40

I wouldn't want a Virginia burger...(boak)

kali110 · 09/05/2014 15:42

Iv had very bad food poisoning from kfc 4 years ago. Iv only just had a kfc again. It didnt mean i stopped eating chicken from other places.
Yabu. You owe your colleagues a big apology.

Shinyfly · 09/05/2014 15:43

FFS!

Drumsticks99 · 09/05/2014 15:47

Is it possible that you bored them do much with the food poisoning story (KFC blah blah blah, chicken blah blah blah, vomiting blah blah blah, we. Never eat chicken again blah blah blah) that they delibratly got you a chicken burgar to try to annoy you??

To be fair on them you didn't say no chicken so they were doing what they were told..............

But honestly YABU

AnnieLobeseder · 09/05/2014 15:51

rinabean - It's not even reasonable to avoid kfc forever and ever tbh

Of course it is. I haven't been inside one in about 30 years!!
