to think my colleague was thoughtless and ruined my lunch?

Yesterday the canteen at work was closed so two work colleagues volunteered to drive and pick up lunch (we work in an area where it would take 15 minutes to walk to the nearest cafe and only have half an hour lunch.)

It was decided they would go to KFC and McDonalds. I had spent an hour previously complaining that I had got food poisoning last time I went to KFC. So I ordered from McDonalds and said to my colleague, please just get me the American burger of the week.

My colleague returned back with a Louisiana burger which is a chicken burger! When I said I had been complaining about getting food poisoning from KFC that it was common sense that I wouldn't want a chicken burger.

Their excuse was - they had other peoples lunches to get, I hadn't been specific and that they hadn't really listened when I complained about my food poisoning.

Bearbehind I think you're a little behind with the bashing.

wouldn't it have been easier and more productive to walk the 15 minutes to the nearest cafe and get your own fucking lunch

I also quite clearly stated that we got half an hour lunch and it's not flexible unfortunately. So 15 minutes walk there and back with take up the entire half an hour - you also have to add time of potentially queuing, waiting for your food, and then eating it.

Hence why colleague bought lunch for the whole of our department - not just me.

Is it very wrong that I'm reading this in bed and desperately fancying a KFC?

livelifememories · 10/05/2014 00:47

*would take up the entire half an hour

Sorry. Obviously time for bed.

Thanks for the good laugh everyone.

It's nice to know without a shadow of a doubt I'm definitely not being unreasonable in the slightest. Maybe I'll post on the legal board tomorrow and see if if theres anyone I can potentially sue.

I'll buy everyone their very own Lou Lou burgers with the compo Wink

Sweet dreams without a chicken burger in sight!

Alisvolatpropiis · 10/05/2014 01:35

You've taken this all with better humour than most would have op Smile

aermingers · 10/05/2014 02:34

Look on the bright side OP. At least it weren't halal.

MissDuke · 10/05/2014 08:42

Op, I can see why you were annoyed actually! You say the food poisoning was just a week or so ago? So still very fresh in your mind. You were obviously hungry and then gutted to receive something you felt that you couldn't eat. However you were of course unreasonable for assuming your colleagues would realise that, but you clearly know that now. I hope you didn't give them a hard time as it was very kind of them to take up their entire lunchbreak to fetch everyone's orders, and from two different places! If you had been nicer about it, perhaps someone would have swapped with you? I don't eat burgers at all, but if someone randomly got me one, I would eat it out of politeness to be honest. Or say I was in need of fresh air and wanted to eat outside, and discreetly file it in the bin lol.

I am sure they won't make that mistake again!!!!

Did you throw it in the bin??

HappyGirlNow · 10/05/2014 08:58

Haha this thread is absolutely BRILLIANT!

At first I thought you were a tit livelife but you're actually a legend! Thanks for the laughs Grin

ProfessorBranestawm · 10/05/2014 09:08

Please tell me you still paid your colleague back for the burger :o

I'm going to macD tomorrow with my DSD and her friends, thanks to OP I won't have to stand there wondering what to order, I have now decided on LouLou...

SteadyEddie · 10/05/2014 14:09

Just nipped down to Mcdonalds after picking DD up from rainbows. The Nevada Grande is lovely (if a tad spicy!)

LiberalLibertine · 10/05/2014 15:38

Bloody hell op,I think that ^ was someone agreeing with you Shock

Bearbehind · 10/05/2014 18:44

If you can get away with ranting about food poisoning for an hour during work time I can't believe your lunch is timed to the second.

MikeLitoris · 10/05/2014 18:50

I had the louisianna burger today and it was good!

vestandknickers · 10/05/2014 21:20

Biggest turn around ever OP!

You were coming across as a fruitloop there for a while, but have ended this thread as a total legend.

MamaMumra · 11/05/2014 02:48

Atbeckandcall · 11/05/2014 02:54

Well done OP. I think you're a bit of a star on here actually

TheRealMaryMillington · 11/05/2014 04:13

They brought what you specified

You are bonkers

Go get your own lunch next time

giraffescantboogie · 11/05/2014 05:59

yes sue op Grin

LIZS · 11/05/2014 06:15

if you had so long to moan you had time to google what the burger of the week was and know to ask them not to get one.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 11/05/2014 08:26

If you only have a half hour lunch how do you have all that time to natter about food poisoning?

YAbu. They did as you asked.
But I can see why you wouldn't want to eat chicken just now.
