to think my colleague was thoughtless and ruined my lunch?

Yesterday the canteen at work was closed so two work colleagues volunteered to drive and pick up lunch (we work in an area where it would take 15 minutes to walk to the nearest cafe and only have half an hour lunch.)

It was decided they would go to KFC and McDonalds. I had spent an hour previously complaining that I had got food poisoning last time I went to KFC. So I ordered from McDonalds and said to my colleague, please just get me the American burger of the week.

My colleague returned back with a Louisiana burger which is a chicken burger! When I said I had been complaining about getting food poisoning from KFC that it was common sense that I wouldn't want a chicken burger.

Their excuse was - they had other peoples lunches to get, I hadn't been specific and that they hadn't really listened when I complained about my food poisoning.

That should be YABU.

Theodorous · 09/05/2014 11:07

One thread a homeless young mother, another a non problem. Poor poor colleagues

Allthequeenshorses · 09/05/2014 11:12

Really??? YABU.

Bunbaker · 09/05/2014 11:16

Where has the OP gone?

She asked if she had been unreasonable.

The general consensus was yes

And so she has flounced off.

I, too have had food poisoning from chicken, but it doesn't stop me from eating chicken again.

livelifememories · 09/05/2014 11:19

Flounced off?

Did I say I was leaving? Confused

Just because I'm not here answering straight away.

"Anything except chicken from MaccyD's, please. Definitely not KFC - bad experience, I don't talk about it."

Fixed that for you.

BuzzardBird · 09/05/2014 11:23

Was it halal chicken? Grin

NunsArePeopleTooDougal · 09/05/2014 11:24

Was the chicken halal? I think that's the real issue here.Smile

JapaneseMargaret · 09/05/2014 11:28

So, if you're around, respond to everyone then.

You really do come across as hard work / no craic whatsoever.

itiswhatitiswhatitis · 09/05/2014 11:32

Maybe you are a bit high maintenance at work and your colleague thought he'd punish you with chicken?

SistersOfPercy · 09/05/2014 11:33

Wow a full house of YABU.
You do sound hard work.

AnnieLobeseder · 09/05/2014 11:35

You sound completely ungrateful and hard work. I hope you didn't actualyl say anything to the colleagues who bought your lunch for you, because if you did, you can bet they won't bother doing you any favours ever again.

MrsAtticus · 09/05/2014 11:38

I'm assuming this is a joke.

fanoftheinvisibleman · 09/05/2014 11:38

A colleague agreed with you? So you actually shared these thoughts out loud with someone else at work?

Oh dear! I hope when hindsight finally kicks in you aren't too mortified!

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 09/05/2014 11:39

I'm trying to eat sensibly, and now all I want is a chicken burger Angry

itiswhatitiswhatitis · 09/05/2014 11:41

Same here FuckYou. Do I eat my waitrose count the calories meal or head out for a Chicken Tower Burger (who ever thought hey let's stick a hash brown in a chicken burger was a fucking genius)

Everythingwillbeok · 09/05/2014 11:44

I have had stomach cramps and an upset stomach for over a week the last twice I have had KFC which is a shame as I love it but will not be going again. So I understand that it's put you off ,but McDonald's chicken is totally different, taste sauces, bun ect, I would have just said thankyou and eaten it I think.

And thought to myself damn I should have made it clear I didn't want anything chicken at all. YABU

LotsaTuddles · 09/05/2014 11:47

You can still eat KFC, just because you got good poisoning once doesn't mean every time you eat chicken you'll get food poisoning.

I got food poisoning from some prawns a few years ago - I still eat them, just make sure they're cooked now Grin

And KFC is amazing, you've made me really want KFC now Grin

Pumpkinpositive · 09/05/2014 11:48

It wouldn't have occurred to me that chicken burgers were off the menu for you. Confused

I think the moral is, bring your own packed lunch in future. That way you avoid food poisoning AND having to cope with non psychic coworkers.

Win, win! Grin

emms1981 · 09/05/2014 11:53

Its not, The burger of the week is a chilli one not chicken so to be fair they didn't get what she asked for and I would prob be annoyed too

gotnotimeforthat · 09/05/2014 11:54

OP can I ask what you said to the colleague who got your lunch after realising it was chicken? Did you eat the burger?

Oblomov · 09/05/2014 12:04

Ruined?
You should have said you wanted a burger, not chicken.
You sound like a pita.
And I don't mean bread.

MrsSkilly · 09/05/2014 12:07

YABVU and I can't believe you even voiced your upset to another colleague who probably agreed with you to shut you up.

You sound like my BIL who had alleged food poisoning from a chicken nugget once and now can't eat anything in breadcrumbs. I have pointed out that it was probably the chicken that caused the issue rather than the coating but he won't have any of it

Kitsmummy · 09/05/2014 12:11

god you sound like a right whinging pita!

TheToysAreALIVEITellThee · 09/05/2014 12:12

You got what you asked for.

Whats the problem exactly?
