to think my colleague was thoughtless and ruined my lunch?

Yesterday the canteen at work was closed so two work colleagues volunteered to drive and pick up lunch (we work in an area where it would take 15 minutes to walk to the nearest cafe and only have half an hour lunch.)

It was decided they would go to KFC and McDonalds. I had spent an hour previously complaining that I had got food poisoning last time I went to KFC. So I ordered from McDonalds and said to my colleague, please just get me the American burger of the week.

My colleague returned back with a Louisiana burger which is a chicken burger! When I said I had been complaining about getting food poisoning from KFC that it was common sense that I wouldn't want a chicken burger.

Their excuse was - they had other peoples lunches to get, I hadn't been specific and that they hadn't really listened when I complained about my food poisoning.

If you were not wanting chicken at all you could have said get me a beef burger, instead you asked for the American burger of the week and that is what you got.
I won't eat a KFC as I felt unwell after the last one I ate. However I have had a chicken burger at a Brewers Fayre and it was delicious!
YABU

YABU. Tell them to check their crystal ball next time their psychic powers aren't working.

BerniesBurneze · 09/05/2014 10:16

Yabu yabu yabu

Be specific next time. I hate fannying about on behalf of someone else. Be as complicated as you like just don't be vague and then get annoyed.

Mrsjayy · 09/05/2014 10:16

I have visions of the poster being all woe is me and stomping about moaning they were STAARRRVING like a 5 year old come on op they didnt do anything wrong

Littlegreyauditor · 09/05/2014 10:16

This is why I am glad to be self employed.

You are being unreasonable, ungrateful and really whiny. They did you a favour, got exactly what you asked for and you should have said "thank you" and nothing else.

OddFodd · 09/05/2014 10:17

They went to McDonalds and bought you what you'd asked for? What complete and utter cunts! Angry

OurMiracle1106 · 09/05/2014 10:17

Yabu. Sorry but you are. They got you what you asked for (and probably assumed you knew which burger it was this week) and then you were ungrateful.

They didn't have to get anyone elses lunch at all.

gordyslovesheep · 09/05/2014 10:19

YAB VVVVVVVVV U

JapaneseMargaret · 09/05/2014 10:20

You cannot be serious.

Catsize · 09/05/2014 10:22

This is riduculous. You are being sooooooooooooo unreasonable. They did what you asked, and were doing you a favour.

snowgirl1 · 09/05/2014 10:23

YABU. If someone's doing you a favour, then you're unreasonable to be so pernickty. Like someone else commented, I would assume your issue with KFC had been cleanliness - I wouldn't have assumed that you wouldn't want to eat chicken ever again.

Did you know the canteen was going to be closed? Why didn't you bring sandwiches?

Topaz25 · 09/05/2014 10:24

I do understand that the food poisoning might have put you off chicken but you should have told your colleague that and asked them to get you a hamburger or something, not told them to get you the American burger of the day, which might be a chicken burger. They did you a favour and got you exactly what you asked for. Did you really go on for an hour about having food poisoning? An hour?! Wasn't that embarrassing for you and annoying for everyone around you? How does that conversation even take an hour? I would only discuss food poisoning with my colleagues if I had to miss work and then I would tell them I was ill but I feel better now and warn then to avoid the restaurant if I knew where I got it from. That's a two minute conversation.

lylasmam2012 · 09/05/2014 10:24

YABU and if I were your work colleague I'd never do you a favour again!

Floggingmolly · 09/05/2014 10:25

Have you considered the fact that you may have contributed to other people's ruined lunches; bollocking on about food poisoning for an hour before lunch time??

Uncouth and vulgar.

qazxc · 09/05/2014 10:25

YABU.
You never said you didn't want a chicken burger, you just said that you didn't want KFC. They were doing you a favour, you weren't really specific so i would just let it be TBH. If the canteen is going to remain closed for a while maybe you should pack a lunch or volunteer to do the lunch run yourself.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 09/05/2014 10:26

Was it Halal?

Changebagsandgladrags · 09/05/2014 10:29

Yeah, but did they get you chips?

Andrewofgg · 09/05/2014 10:30

Come on, somebody start the thread about the colleague who claimed she got food-poisoning from KFC . . .

MsVestibule · 09/05/2014 10:31

This is right up there with all of the other Incredibly Unreasonable AIBUs of 2014. You might even win an award for it. If you'd been boring me for an hour with details of your food poisoning, I'd have got you a KFC deliberately and said "Oh sorry, it was a KFC that gave you food poisoning? I thought you said it was a McDonalds."

I call reverse, too.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 09/05/2014 10:32

Anyone else really fancy a Louisiana burger right now?

LiberalLibertine · 09/05/2014 10:35

You know your colleagues are either going to be laughing at you or bitching about you right?

Oh YWBVVU

MaggieDoesntGoHereAnymore · 09/05/2014 10:35

No, but I wouldn't say no to a KFC meal Wink

Groovee · 09/05/2014 10:36

Next time get your own lunch. If you'd asked for the american burger of the day, that is what you would have got, chicken or no chicken.

You're throwing your rattle out of the pram instead of accepting you should have ordered a big mac or a quarter pounder.

MaggieDoesntGoHereAnymore · 09/05/2014 10:36

Anyway this thread is very funny.

Thanks OP I needed a laugh.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 09/05/2014 10:36

Ironically I had food poisoning yesterday and spent the whole day vomiting, so no! Although it wasn't chicken that did it.
