to think my colleague was thoughtless and ruined my lunch?

Yesterday the canteen at work was closed so two work colleagues volunteered to drive and pick up lunch (we work in an area where it would take 15 minutes to walk to the nearest cafe and only have half an hour lunch.)

It was decided they would go to KFC and McDonalds. I had spent an hour previously complaining that I had got food poisoning last time I went to KFC. So I ordered from McDonalds and said to my colleague, please just get me the American burger of the week.

My colleague returned back with a Louisiana burger which is a chicken burger! When I said I had been complaining about getting food poisoning from KFC that it was common sense that I wouldn't want a chicken burger.

Their excuse was - they had other peoples lunches to get, I hadn't been specific and that they hadn't really listened when I complained about my food poisoning.

Your colleagues will probably roll their eyes whenever fast food or food poisoning is ever brought up again. You will a bit of an office in-joke now Wink. Lighten up a bit OP, nobody needs to hear you talk for an hour about food poisoning.

Did you eat the burger anyway?

SnakeyMcBadass · 09/05/2014 10:38

I am loving the tit/universe diagram

ZacharyQuack · 09/05/2014 10:39

If my colleague had spent an hour complaining about their food poisoning, I wouldn't listen to them either.

TheHouseatWhoCorner · 09/05/2014 10:41

Did you eat it?

ENormaSnob · 09/05/2014 10:45

Are you popular at work op?

BadgersNadgers · 09/05/2014 10:46

Is this like the time I was pregnant and DH got black pepper put on my Sub and I cried and threw it at the wall and said he'd ruined my life? I was being a stupid bastard. It's good to be able to admit these things.

SomethingProfound · 09/05/2014 10:47

Wow how rude are you? Colleague kindly went to get your lunch, got you exactly what your ordered. And you have the audacity to complain because they didn't read your mind. You should of specified NO CHICKEN!

Next time suck it up say thank you and try not to be so ungrateful when someone does you a favour.

Fenton · 09/05/2014 10:49

Poor unreasonable OP Sad

to think my colleague was thoughtless and ruined my lunch?

You didn't have food poisioning from KFC.

If it did happen then there would be a lot of people effected by it so KFC would have been closed by environmental Heath.

The symptoms are D&V which is a bug that could have been picked up anywhere.

gotnotimeforthat · 09/05/2014 10:53

All this talk about chicken is making me hungry. I might have to have a boneless banquet now

ColdTeaAgain · 09/05/2014 10:54

YABU - if you didn't want chicken you should of been clear about it.

I doubt your colleague will be offering to get you lunch again, you were rude and ungrateful!

whatsagoodusername · 09/05/2014 10:55

I'd have got to the front of the queue and said "American Burger of the Week." I wouldn't have looked at the menu, I wouldn't have looked at the burger when I received it. You said American Burger of the Week. YABU.

If you had said "American Burger of the Week, but if it happens to be chicken, then something else", I'd have checked for you. Otherwise I wouldn't have thought twice about what it actually was.

Not necessarily.

The worst food poisoning I've ever had was from KFC. I know it was there because we shared to meal with another couple and it was the only thing we ate together. All four of us had terrible D&V a couple of days later. I was ill for two weeks and lost loads of weight. Nobody else we know had any symptoms.

Our GPs were involved and reported it but the shop was not closed.

LiberalLibertine · 09/05/2014 10:56

TimeForAnotherNameChange · 09/05/2014 11:01

YABVU, rude, entitled and ungrateful.

The worst food poisoning I've ever had was from McDonalds. Myself and a friend ate different meals there and both came down with horrific food poisoning. We reported it to Environmental Health who later got back to us to say that they did a spot check because there had been other recent complaints, and whilst they didn't close it immediately, they did issue a notice to improve.

Mrsjayy · 09/05/2014 11:01

I had KFC on sunday it was rank stayed put though Grin

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 09/05/2014 11:01

LiberalLibertine · 09/05/2014 11:03

God knows what it would take to get one of those closed.

IrianofWay · 09/05/2014 11:05

Do you generally get on well with people you work with?

Aspiringhuman · 09/05/2014 11:06

YANBU, your colleague deserves a medal. Next time this comes up don't be surprised if they leave you out, will probably cause less hassle than getting you what you asked for.

Aspiringhuman · 09/05/2014 11:07

That
