pants on the washing line

aibu to hang my not so smalls outside on the washing line. We have an over looked garden by about 5 houses but other than that its a private garden.

I've just spoke to my mum who told me I must bring them in in case a neighbour sees them Hmm shes never put knickers on the line, I think she is a little bat shit.

Do you hang your pants up, if not why not? I'm not talking crotchless kecks just standard day pants.

This thread is from 2014
But just for info, no I don't 😄

Chickychickydodah · 03/03/2021 09:54

I hang mine out but put them nearest to my house as my garden is very overlooked .

Never occurred to me not to put them out. I'm in my 50s, if that's relevant.
They'd go in the tumble dryer if I had one (because it's easier, not because I'm prudish)

thosetalesofunexpected · 03/03/2021 10:09

I do a mixture of both, sometimes /often hang my underwear outside on the line amongst the other clothes washing

I too really like the fresh smell of clothes washing, that newly dried outside, you can't beat it.

But sometimes I will dry a few them on my radiator too.

I have also hung up my smalls outside loud and prowd.
I can't understand how anybody could even thinking about hanging stubborn stained knickers outside !

MrsFeatherDuster · 03/03/2021 10:12

I will put white everyday ones on the line but any other styles go into the tumbler not that the other styles or colours are very racy. Also will hang out tights but never stockings which I admit is very strange. Our garden isn't even overlooked.

BashfulClam · 03/03/2021 10:22

I have a little hanger thing for pants and socks so it takes up less line space. I don’t care if my neighbours see my massive granny scants.

Horsemad · 03/03/2021 10:30

@cupofcolumbian, why would you resurrect a thread from 2014...? 🤔

FoonySpucker · 03/03/2021 11:43

@cupofcolumbian

This has just happened to me and I was really annoyed
@Horsemad

This was the response!?

@cupofcolumbian We get that you might have been annoyed, but it still doesn't explain why you brought this thread back. It has just annoyed lots of other people who are fed up to the back teeth of ZOMBIES.

diagold4u · 03/03/2021 11:50

I don't hang mine, I feel embarrassed to do so. My neighbours are all old, except one woman. She hangs her undies, it seems like she collects loads and then does a wash and put them all out, there's loads on the washing line. I feel awks about it, I don't know why. I think because it's such a intimate garment I don't want my neighbours seeing my undergarment! But then again I don't go out half naked, maybe that's why am so awkward about it

Horsemad · 03/03/2021 11:55

@FoonySpucker, 👍

I wish MN locked threads after a certain length of time has elapsed.

That has been suggested recently. With the option for the OP to contact MN if they wish to post an update (problem with that is that people still don't bother to even check if the OP has updated)

On old threads there is a little red warning that come up saying "this thread has not been posted on for over a year" but that only appears once and if somebody ploughs on and resurrects the thread anyway it disappears so subsequent posters don't see it.

It is clear that loads of people don't use the "see all" option, neither do they even bother to look at the most recent posts on the thread.

Apart from being a total waste of their time, I woud question taking on board advice/suggestions from someone who has no interest in what other people may have said - even when they can see that there are hundreds of posts.

Notjustanymum · 03/03/2021 14:12

I hang all the smalls in the centre of the rotary line, covering them with tee shirts, then larger items towards the outside. TBH that’s more because larger items hang better on the outer lines, but I suppose it also means they are hidden from plain sight!

user1471538283 · 03/03/2021 14:17

They are just clothing! When we had a private garden I would hang all our underwear outside. Now we have a communal garden I don't hang my pants out. Instead they are on an airer by my bedroom window for all the people passing by ...

diagold4u · 03/03/2021 15:28

Lol just noticed the date!! @cupofcolumbian how did you come across this thread might I ask Wink

LadyDanburysCane · 03/03/2021 16:19

All my washing gets put on the line outside whenever practical. My garden is overlooked by many other properties but not accessible to knicker thieves. I don’t even care whether they are hung on the inside or the outside of the whirligig. (What an exhibitionist 😂 )

LadyDanburysCane · 03/03/2021 16:21

Oh no... pulled into a zombie thread 😡

Note to self .... CHECK DATES YOU NUMPTY

DobbyTheHouseElk · 03/03/2021 16:30

What happened to the zombie warning?

ALERT 🚨 ALERT 🚨 ALERT

THIS IS A ZOMBIE THREAD

sueelleker · 03/03/2021 16:43

I peg mine out if I've got room left after putting out the large stuff.

FoonySpucker · 03/03/2021 16:53

The zombie warning only appears for the first pereson who resurrects the thread. Once a new post has been made it disappears.

@cupofcolumbian has already said that they resurrected it because they were angry that someone has nicked their undies off the line.

Confrontayshunme · 03/03/2021 16:53

My NDN puts out washing every day on our shared line but NEVER pants. And she asked me not to put my DH's boxers on, but I told her they were just pants and if she had no problems with mine or the children's, she would survive seeing DH's. She has. No more comments for 7 years.

Sahm101 · 03/03/2021 17:03

I always hang mine in the middle.
