aibu to hang my not so smalls outside on the washing line. We have an over looked garden by about 5 houses but other than that its a private garden.

I've just spoke to my mum who told me I must bring them in in case a neighbour sees them Hmm shes never put knickers on the line, I think she is a little bat shit.

Do you hang your pants up, if not why not? I'm not talking crotchless kecks just standard day pants.

I'm amazed that people don't hang knickers out!!

I hang all washinh on the line, for all the neighbours to see. I have a pulley line too so can hoist them really high. Grin

My neighbours do the same.

hellymelly · 06/05/2014 16:59

All washing goes on the line in fine weather, I don't have a tumble drier for a start. I am not overlooked but even if I was I wouldn't think twice about it.

morethanpotatoprints · 06/05/2014 17:02

Yes, all ours goes on the line. Dh sometimes teaches from home so in this case I make sure the smalls are at the end of the line as his room looks directly onto washing, but apart from this I don't worry.

Topseyt · 06/05/2014 17:03

I always hang ours out. I couldn't really give a stuff what anyone thinks of them. Grin

I couldn't say what the neighbours do, as we don't really overlook each other. I am the only one whose washing might be visible because I am on a corner plot and have a small road going down the side of my garden.

PuppyMonkey · 06/05/2014 17:03

I let it all hang out too. Garden not overlooked, but tbh my neighbours have better things to do than examine my washing line. Grin

BrokenToeOuch · 06/05/2014 17:04

Never hang mine out, I was frequently targeted by a knicker nicker when I lived at home so everything gets tumbled.

supadupapupascupa · 06/05/2014 17:05

always! especially any with blood marks on them because the sun bleaches it out. I f anyone is looking close enough at my pants to notice they deserve the shock of it!

LastingLight · 06/05/2014 17:05

honeybeeridiculous said: they can see in RL how ample enormous my butt is so why should they be surprised about the size of my sloggies?!

Grin Indeed! Mind you, I'm sometimes shocked myself when I look at the size of them...

EffectiveCommunication · 06/05/2014 17:07

It all gets hung out. If I have a leak during my time of the month, and the stain did not come out in the wash, then I would decline to put those pants out on the line.

Chocolateisa7adayfood · 06/05/2014 17:10

Yes I used to put mine out when we had an outside line, but on the inside line of the rotary dryer so you couldn't see them Smile

bonzo77 · 06/05/2014 17:10

Always. Helps to bleach out the blood and the skiddies. Joke. All my pants are black, the stains don't show. I do have a pulley in the kitchen. I tend to hang my smalls on the side nearest the wall so they are obscured by other clothes.

LightastheBreeze · 06/05/2014 17:11

I hang mine on the sock peg thing so they don't take up a lot of line space and its not that obvious what they are as they just hang with loads of other socks, pants and bras.

DHs are pegged in all their glory from the waistband with 2 pegs

pissedglitter · 06/05/2014 17:11

My underwear was nicked a few times that's why I don't do it any more
In fact I actually saw my ex next door neighbour wearing my bra once, she was an alcoholic so I assumed she took it by accident
But can't be sure so I stopped hanging them out

RidgyTipper · 06/05/2014 17:13

exexpat was that in Japan by any chance? My friend lived out there for a while a d she said that she and all her girlfriends frequently had knickers stolen from the most seemingly inaccessible balconies!

merlehaggard · 06/05/2014 17:14

I would hang absolutely anything on my line and not even consider what the neighbours thought. My polish friend wouldn't though. She moved to the UK and wouldn't hang any clothes on the line and has progressed to clothes, but still not underwear.

fanoftheinvisibleman · 06/05/2014 17:15

Yes I do. Preferably on a wanger hanger Grin

vladthedisorganised · 06/05/2014 17:17

Of course! If the neighbours pass comment they shouldn't be looking that closely [hoicks bosom]

I do occasionally draw the line at the moth-eaten socks that DH refuses to throw out, though.

Bowlersarm · 06/05/2014 17:18

Yep I do, so YANBU.

exexpat · 06/05/2014 17:33

RidgyTipper - no, it was Taiwan. The balcony overlooked a street and there were often cars parked underneath, so I suspect someone climbed onto the roof of a car or truck and then onto the balcony. We stopped hanging stuff out and made sure the balcony doors were very firmly locked after that...

Funnily enough I did also live in Japan for years but never had any underwear stolen - probably helped that the only place I lived where I could hang laundry outside was a three-storey detached house with a laundry platform on the roof. But I have also heard of knicker-theft being a thing in Japan.

squoosh · 06/05/2014 17:34

So many neo-Victorians! Pin your pants with pride OP.

PatrickStarisabadbellend · 06/05/2014 17:35

Putting your stalls on the line doesn't bother me what so ever but...

My neighbour has stains in her underwear and she still puts them on the line. It's the last thing I want to be looking at when I'm having a BBQ.

WorraLiberty · 06/05/2014 17:38

OMG Patrick get right out of my head Shock

I was just coming on to post exactly that...word for word!

Maybe she lives in between our houses Grin

ImpatientOne · 06/05/2014 17:40

I hang all of our washing outside and our garden is overlooked - one of the neighbours is also my colleague but I trust her not to be discussing our under-crackers at work Wink

Although actually I'd be quite worried if that was all anyone had to talk about!

specialsubject · 06/05/2014 17:40

another memo that I didn't receive...

my washing line is slightly out of sight, but that of my neighbours is not. Lots of very respectable underwear hung up on sunny days. Just as I do.

why not?

PatrickStarisabadbellend · 06/05/2014 17:41

Haha Worra. It's like skid Mark Central half the time Grin
