Man on my facebook reckons he needs a day off work because of emotional stress, I said he should have one if he needs it and asked the reason why.

He said the footy results.

he is being deadly serious and saying he's suffering from 'football related sadness' and that he feels so alone and upset, he is crying.

Now I fully understand mental illness having suffered/suffering from it myself... but really?

Maybe a sign of something underlying you may say but I've known him for a good few years and football really does seem to get him down when his team loses!

Anyone else glad they don't have a partner who is obsessed with the football?!

OP posts:
KenDoddsDadsDog · 07/05/2014 22:19

Yeah probably ! My dad has told me about random reasons his colleagues used to cane kids . Sad

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 07/05/2014 22:31

I've also heard stories of canings being dished out unfairly too but I did tell her that I didn't think she have been sobbing in assembly over a football game though. Grin

Well that's the domestic frs almost over, now for the six weeks of plastic flags on car windows, and crap teeshirts, followed by a national outpouring of frs from Brazil.

MuddlingMackem · 07/05/2014 23:11

Were any of my fellow Mackems at the match tonight? We should have had a MN Mackem Posse. Grin

There's still Sunday - and at least we can enjoy that game. :)

KenDoddsDadsDog · 08/05/2014 06:26

No, my die hard sister was though. Said it was the best . I'm very willing to celebrate Borini's season with him though Wink

deemented · 08/05/2014 06:55

Am very much looking forward to Sundays match with Sunderland. We're both safe now. Should be an excuse to play some decent pressure free football and win three nil Wink

frogslegs35 · 08/05/2014 12:40

Thank the lord!
YEY :) fellow SAFC supporters.

Bring on Brazil :)
Love it when there's world cup or euro's during the summer.

Rokerwriter · 08/05/2014 12:44

Waves at Miaow, KenDodd and MuddledMackem with sweat-stained hanky. And..... relax

Rokerwriter · 08/05/2014 12:45

MuddlingMackem sorry, not Muddled. Oh, and frogslegs35

MuddlingMackem · 08/05/2014 12:50

No worries Rokerwriter, yes, good to be able to relax.

I'm thinking 3 - 0 too, deemented, but to us! Wink

frogslegs35 · 08/05/2014 12:52

Back at ya Roker

No need for hankies any more til next season :)

MuddlingMackem · 08/05/2014 13:04

frogslegs35, so hope we can start off next season the way we're ending this one! Would be good to gets some points in the bank early on. :)

Here's to a boring and uneventful mid-table finish this time next year! Brew Wine

Rokerwriter · 08/05/2014 13:30

Maybe we should set up a support group - because you all just know it won't get easier. I was trying to convince DS this week that I'd seen Sunderland relegated more times than I'd seen them promoted. Logically, it can't be true, but it feels that way Grin Never missed work because of it though - getting back on theme, sorry OP.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 08/05/2014 19:01

Yes we need a Mackem support group !!!

greenfolder · 08/05/2014 19:04

for those of you suffering- try having a husband who follows Luton. yes totally agree that you should support your local team man and boy but cant help feeling this might be easier if you are born in Manchester.

mass celebration at just being in the bloody football league.

aarrrgghhhhhhh

RhondaJean · 08/05/2014 19:48

Different type of football related sadness.

DH is having a mini meltdown because he has just realised my friends wedding reception clashes with the champions league final.

In fairness it's not friends he knows and he isn't objecting to going but he's muttering about putting sky go on his phone...

bellarations · 08/05/2014 19:51

I have not read all posts, sorry if this has been said.
Does your leg ache?
Think he was pulling on it!!!!!!! :}

deemented · 08/05/2014 21:28

greenfolder - tell him not to give up hope. Swansea City once played the last match of the season for survival in the football league. We won. Ten years later we're in the Premier League. And they are making a Hollywood film about it!

EverythingsDozy · 08/05/2014 21:45

Not necessarily easier if you come from manchester! What about fc united of manchester? Or Hyde?? Poor Hyde!! Sad

MuddlingMackem · 08/05/2014 22:01

Yes, I think a Mackem support group sounds like a very good idea. Grin

KenDoddsDadsDog · 11/05/2014 14:37

Anyone keeping their fingers crossed this afternoon ? It's amazing to relax on last day of season, without the terrors !!

EverythingsDozy · 11/05/2014 14:46

Am at my mums house, there are four blue shirts with no fingernails left and a red and white stripes who is looking very chilled out! Envy

deemented · 11/05/2014 16:34

Everything is good. Swansea are winning, Cardiff are loosing.

Grin
MuddlingMackem · 11/05/2014 21:49

KenDoddsDadsDog Would have been happier if we'd played better. At least the second half was an improvement. Was hoping we'd finish with a win to go out on a high.

Despite that, always fun to see the players' kids when the team come out to see the fans after the last match. :)

KenDoddsDadsDog · 11/05/2014 22:02

Did they get a good reception ? Wouldn't have minded a roll on the pitch with Borini ! Grin
