Took dd to MacDonalds today. For us this is a holiday treat as we enjoy the odd burger, although dd is really just lured by the plastic tat in the happy meal TBH. She is slim and eats normally rest of time.

But, bloody hell, the people in there were beyond belief really. Makes me realize how other families actually live and why the health of the country is as it is.

Family 1- all huge, and the youngest dd (aged about 9) was definitely the fattest and not only that she was eating a full sized meal, and worst of all was wearing a full red velour lipsy tracksuit with gold embroidery!!!!!

Family 2- Two boys with their dad, all sat vacantly staring at their food and munching away. First boy opens his (supersize) fries and says "wheres the salt?" Dad doesn't say anything, just fishes in the papers on his tray and passes packet of salt to child. The chips are ALREADY covered in far too much salt, especially for kids, and if the child asks for salt this makes me think this is a regular thing for him, to cover his food in salt.

Don't these people take any responsibility for their health AT ALL?

Macdonlds do has packets of salt, I use them, before you all explode I order fries no salt then add my own this is the secret to fresh fries Wink

How do you know this was not also a rare treat for them? Just cause your fat doesn't mean you eat in their all the time.

Well if the people on Macdonalds are fat then they obviously spend too much time eating crap. There is no d cuse for a nine year old to be obese.

That said, there are fewer calories in a Happy Meal than the large muffins and smoothies/milk shakes in Starbucks. You can get fat eating too much of anything.

I still don't get the issue with the tracksuit. I would probably judge if a nine year old were dressed like a hooker, but a tracksuit? Is it just because it's not to your taste?

Pink sparkly tops or Disney dresses aren't to my taste either, but isn't part of being a kid that you get to wear horrific stuff? Dayglo stuff was all the rage when I was that age.

Burn your bloody judgeypants as your concern revulsion is misguided.

You know nothing ahout these families and had a very, very small window into their lives.

Op, I live in a touristy area. Ive seen underweight/overweight/normal weight, underdressed( swimming cossie & flip flops) / overdressed / nicely dressed/ dressed to do your cleaning/work , in any & all combinations. Chill the fuck out about how others live their lives and stop judging anyone different from yourself

Shock news.
Different branches of McDonald's do different things!
We have presalted chips AND salt packets here, along with the little tubs for ketchup etc.
But if they don't have them in other branches it does not make other posters wrong. The basic menu is the same although the range of choices might be different.
That being said, OP is well out of order. A snapshot of other lives, just like they had a shot of yours. Mind your own, OP. What do you gain from this? A chance to feel smug? A chance to feel part of a special elite? Well, good for you. Fill your boots. It's pathetic.

My ds x 2 go to MacDonalds with their Dad usually and love the Happy meals.
I have not been there for a while but when did enjoyed a vegie wrap thing and a cappucino. Coffee a bit weak but really it was fine and I rather like the chips.
[As a MacDonalds novice I did make dh and children incredulous by wondering where the plates were!].
If our local one was on way to anywhere I was going I could become quite a regular I think.
As for velour tracksuits. They are popular round our way and if living here you would be judging constantly op.

I think McDonald's is bogging. Really I hate it. Burger King is much, much nicer.

I think it's a case of everything in moderation. My dc go maybe once a month or every other month. They do love it but I think it's more the happy meal box and toy than the food.

Our nearest McDonald's is on a fairly deprived council estate and this bothers me as I see it could easily be an easy option for those on very low income to buy a £1 burger frequently

I have to be completely honest here.
I don't 'assume' anything when I see a 'fat family'.
I generally just go about my business.

Also big lols at the kids who love mummy's homemade burgers and have a happy meal just for the toy. That has to be one of the cringiest things I've read in a long while. Grin

I really want McDonald's now.

No one needs to justify why they are in mddonalds or any other eatery - have you seen how much butter goes into most restaurant food, it makes your arteries fur up just ladling it in!

You can eat there if you are fat, thin, young, old, posh, not posh, wearing lipsy velour, wearing boden velvet, if you have bitch stitched in gold over your Golddigga clad bum crack or are wearing your best chi chi Cath Kidston cardy. You can go after having gone on a healthy wholesome bike ride and fecking puddle jumping or if you have spent the morning hoovering up scooby doo through your eyeholes.......IT DOESN'T MATTER!

God OP I'm embarrassed for you.

Kids and McDonalds- this is basic stuff, and you still got it all wrong. Total fail

OP - you only have yourself to blame if you insist on taking your child to Macdonalds. Its nasty high sugar/salt/ fat food will make people overweight if they eat lots of it - but those overweight kids didn't start off that way, their first visit just gave them a taste for it.

--And the moral of this story.

If you are overweight and/or have overweight children do not take them out for a walk to McDonalds. Stay at home (where they can wear their spacious track suits or even pyjamas without judgement) and get a takeaway.

Treats are for the righteous.

I was very annoyed that the "restaurant" we went to last night, the home of the "big plate", only offered light mayo - oh the irony. It has a play area so we took dd there for a treat.

You would have loved it there op. Made McDonalds look clean and classy. The whole place stank of lynx.

You based that statement on two families you saw in the space of about half an hour?

That makes you come across as narrow minded and thick. Did you mean to?
