Took dd to MacDonalds today. For us this is a holiday treat as we enjoy the odd burger, although dd is really just lured by the plastic tat in the happy meal TBH. She is slim and eats normally rest of time.

But, bloody hell, the people in there were beyond belief really. Makes me realize how other families actually live and why the health of the country is as it is.

Family 1- all huge, and the youngest dd (aged about 9) was definitely the fattest and not only that she was eating a full sized meal, and worst of all was wearing a full red velour lipsy tracksuit with gold embroidery!!!!!

Family 2- Two boys with their dad, all sat vacantly staring at their food and munching away. First boy opens his (supersize) fries and says "wheres the salt?" Dad doesn't say anything, just fishes in the papers on his tray and passes packet of salt to child. The chips are ALREADY covered in far too much salt, especially for kids, and if the child asks for salt this makes me think this is a regular thing for him, to cover his food in salt.

Don't these people take any responsibility for their health AT ALL?

As for whether a burger is a treat or not is personal taste. Chocolate is my favourite treat, but there will be those that don't like it so it won't be a treat to them, doesn't mean it's not a treat though to others.

What a nasty person you sound burgercat, bad enough that you go round judging like this but starting an insulting thread about people who haven't done anything to you is horrible.

IvyKaty. It may be the oil they use if it smells like rotten eggs to you, it's not unusual, for some people to react strongly to it apparently.

Get you spotty, at pains to point out your kids don't even line McDs burgers and prefer homemade!!

Does McDonalds have salt packets? Where do they stash them?

Tink - I thought that too.

So to re-cap...

The supersize fries turns out not to be supersize after it was pointed out they don't sell them in the UK.

It turns out you didn't take your dd to McDonalds today after all, after it was pointed out they only serve breakfast at this time of the day.

Righto

Waste of a cowardly name change really, wasn't it? Grin

I don't like McDonalds food particularly but it doesn't mean I judge those who do.

Realistically its not a lot worse than food from a lot of other places, or food provided for many people at home.

As far as I know mcd's don't put salt on the chips any more you add on if wanted. Judging a child's clothing, really! Had you thought that maybe the child has asd and major sensory issues regarding clothing and how it feels on her skin before you posted mean irrelevant comments on here? Was she comfortable, probably. Was she happy? Probably happier than your dc if she if allowed to make her own choices without judgement from an adult. Of you don't want to eat in there then don't but what right do you have to judge anyone else in this world! Are you perfect? Cos am thinking probably not Grin

I don't know what a Lipsy track suit is. Is it bad for a 9 year old to be wearing? Crotchless or something?

For the poster judging the dad on his laptop at soft play.

I did this regularly with mine - I was able to work from home in the holidays and had to spend part of each day answering emails etc during "normal" office hours.
I was able to do my actual work in the evening.

It was far easier at soft play where they ran off and played rather than climbing on me at home and constantly fighting/wanting drink/food/too cold/hot/bored/she changed the tv channel.

We had an annual pass for the soft play so it didn't cost and they were used to going - so it wasn't a big treat for them and I had to be involved.

My dd has ended up with a awful velvet track suit - her aunty took her shopping for her birthday. I hate it - she adores it. Not a fight I will ever win.

We go to McDonald's most weeks - we enjoy it. She is usually wearing her track suit.

If you don't like it don't go but don't judge me unless you know me please.

I will never understand what people get from making these things up. It's been done so many times, and there isn't much reward I wouldn't have thought. At least try to be original. McDonald's fatties have been spotted and reported on for years by parenting forum fantasist cage-rattlers.

YaBU to judge people in McDs if you are also in there.

We go there.. but don't judge others..and DD is also slim.

Just to add to Worra recap, Lipsy don't do children's wear so that 9 year old must have been really really tall as well as fat.

My local McDonalds has salt packets

I use at least 2 packs on a medium fries ever since they stopped salting them.

Fucking hell.
I'd rather have a mother who took me to mcds and let me have a bit of salt on my chips than one who was so judgmental of everyone else around me like you.
You are perfect are you?
I suggest it's you with the issues op, I really do.

Slarty- I do that. As a teacher I have to work in the holidays. At soft play my 2 dds run off and I hardly see them, so I take work to do. I think this is a good thing. Do youvtrly want me to follow them round continually? ( they are 7 and 5 btw, when they were little I did go round with them!)

oh, and i judged another dad walking his two boys home from school, permanently on his mobile phone. the boys were desperate to talk to him. Sad

yes, i was judging the lap top user, like i said, it was some years ago, and i expect i was flamed on mumsnet for judging.
but hisi family were around him, and he was ignoring them.

Wink

my 2 are 7 and 10 and no longer get Happy Meals although they dont eat the beef burgers and have the chicken nugget meals. 4 nuggets is not enough (happy meal size) so they get the adult 6 nugget meal instead. They even sometimes have a plain McChicken sandwich as there isnt a chicken burger happy meal.

They wash them down with gallons of ketchup and barbecue sauce.
