to wear my HUGE judgypants in MacDdonalds.

Took dd to MacDonalds today. For us this is a holiday treat as we enjoy the odd burger, although dd is really just lured by the plastic tat in the happy meal TBH. She is slim and eats normally rest of time.

But, bloody hell, the people in there were beyond belief really. Makes me realize how other families actually live and why the health of the country is as it is.

Family 1- all huge, and the youngest dd (aged about 9) was definitely the fattest and not only that she was eating a full sized meal, and worst of all was wearing a full red velour lipsy tracksuit with gold embroidery!!!!!

Family 2- Two boys with their dad, all sat vacantly staring at their food and munching away. First boy opens his (supersize) fries and says "wheres the salt?" Dad doesn't say anything, just fishes in the papers on his tray and passes packet of salt to child. The chips are ALREADY covered in far too much salt, especially for kids, and if the child asks for salt this makes me think this is a regular thing for him, to cover his food in salt.

Don't these people take any responsibility for their health AT ALL?

The judgy panters would have had a field day in our local McDonald's the other night. It was more rhan half full of families from ds's year group at school, all of us killing time before parents' evening...

You wouldn't have known what to judge first...the one or two more overweight families or the children in their private school uniforms. After all, a stripy blazer is akin to child abuse, don't you know?

giantpurplepeopleeater · 13/04/2014 10:26

YABU - for being in the bloody place in the first place, and for assuming that these people weren't in there for the exact same reason that you were - an occasional treat.

What you have done is assume, based on the clothes these people were wearing, that they must eat like that all the time.

I don't understand this craze on mnet for seeing 'judgey pants' as being some great thing! To me it's certainly not. Judging a book by it's cover, and judging people in general by a small snapshot isn't something I would be proud of.

What happened to the ideas of celebrating differences and finding common ground. It's what I was taught at school... mainly as this sort of ignorance and judgement is the building blocks that create the right atmosphere for prejudice and racism.

Why do you care so much about what other people do/ are doing anyway?

Purple you are GOOD people!

Flowers Wine but NO Cake

HmmAnOxfordComma · 13/04/2014 10:31

Oh yes, the right fries to bbq sauce ratio is a perpetual conundrum.

Misspixietrix · 13/04/2014 10:31

andsmile not true. We just all have this inbuilt sense not to snigger at overweight kids...for reasons such as kinkys post.

UriGeller · 13/04/2014 10:31

From my viewpoint, never setting foot in a Macdonalds, you all look the same. So I think deffo YABU.

weneedtotalkaboutshriver · 13/04/2014 10:32

When I go to McDonalds I'm concentrating on getting the right frie to BBQ sauce ratio when dipping

YAB SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO U Usual. The BBQ sauce is the very devil's arse gravy imho. The ONLY correct ratio is : Fries 100% Sauce 0%

HTH (and frees you up for judging opportunities)

picnicbasketcase · 13/04/2014 10:33

Mc Mc Mc Mc. McDonalds, not Mac. Even if the burger is called a Big Mac, it's still not called MacDonalds.

And don't be such a judgmental tit. Other people can wear, eat, or put salt on whatever they want, keep your beak out of it.

weneedtotalkaboutshriver · 13/04/2014 10:33

X post with Oxford. FGeel free to take my advice too. You're welcome!!

Update

Dh has returned with the Salad, but in the interests of balanced nutrition he's also purchased frozen chips and strawberry ice cream to go with it.

I.would have had much more patience with the OP if she had actually said what she was obviously thinking:

"took my beautifully slim, middle class self and Daughter to one of those dreadful McDonalds today amd was both disgusted and amused at all of the fat poor people stuffing their faces while wearing chavvy clothing" WIBU to laugh at young children while pretending to be concerned about the state of the Nations haqlth?

Edenviolet · 13/04/2014 10:36

We have mcds every so often as a treat. If you saw us you might judge, we let dd2 have diet fizzy drinks and dd1 smothers everything in salt but just seeing that snapshot of us tells you nothing... Dd2 is diabetic and a diet fizzy drink is a huge treat for her, dd1 has to eat a lot of salt daily for medical problems.

How do you know the 'overweight' 9 year old doesnt have a condition, she could for example be on steroids for a joint problem thus making her bigger and be wearing a track suit for comfort?

giantpurplepeopleeater · 13/04/2014 10:38

Ploppy I love you.... exactly what I read too!

I thought that's exactly what s/he DID say! It's certainly exactly what I read Grin

Pumpkinette · 13/04/2014 10:40

Is it wrong that this post is making me want to go to mcdonalds for lunch? I'm not hungover and I don't own a velour tracksuit, I just sometimes crave crap food. After reading this I will be thinking about Big Mac's all day now.

Ploppy16 · 13/04/2014 10:41
Grin The OP can at least type properly though...Blush
andsmile · 13/04/2014 10:41

miss I never said anything about sniggering at over weight kids.

It is true that we look and we make millions of judgements per day about whether to percieve something as a threat or not most are below our level of consciousness.

I seen badly dressed kids IMO all the time in things that dont fit or match but that is my opinion. I keep them to myself or I might share them on here - where they dont hurt anyone.

weneedtotalkaboutshriver · 13/04/2014 10:42

weneed You're so wrong.

Clearly I need to do more research Oxford.

Misspixietrix · 13/04/2014 10:42

Pumpkinette no but do make sure you swing by mine with a big mac won't you. Cash and tip waiting. Wink
