Took dd to MacDonalds today. For us this is a holiday treat as we enjoy the odd burger, although dd is really just lured by the plastic tat in the happy meal TBH. She is slim and eats normally rest of time.

But, bloody hell, the people in there were beyond belief really. Makes me realize how other families actually live and why the health of the country is as it is.

Family 1- all huge, and the youngest dd (aged about 9) was definitely the fattest and not only that she was eating a full sized meal, and worst of all was wearing a full red velour lipsy tracksuit with gold embroidery!!!!!

Family 2- Two boys with their dad, all sat vacantly staring at their food and munching away. First boy opens his (supersize) fries and says "wheres the salt?" Dad doesn't say anything, just fishes in the papers on his tray and passes packet of salt to child. The chips are ALREADY covered in far too much salt, especially for kids, and if the child asks for salt this makes me think this is a regular thing for him, to cover his food in salt.

Don't these people take any responsibility for their health AT ALL?

I confess, I don't like McDonalds food, never have. Fries are too salty and the burger buns are just weird. However give me a vanilla milkshake any day!

HoneyDragonDoesNotGiveAShit · 13/04/2014 10:15

Sad. Dh has just gone to Tesco to get salad stuff for tea Sad

Misspixietrix · 13/04/2014 10:16

Me neither Ritz I do judge those that speak to their kids like shit though. My DCs are away at their dads atm and just hearing the other parents call their kids names (I'm being as slattern as the McDonalds fat family and am still in bed with the window open). They've already been swore at several times already :(

burgercat · 13/04/2014 10:16

Well I'm off out, judging to be done, have a lovely day folks with your lovely tight velour suits on.

Misspixietrix · 13/04/2014 10:16

Don't let the door fat kid hit you on the way out OP.

LEMmingaround · 13/04/2014 10:17

I wonder how many people have actually been to McD's already on the back of this thread? wonders what JRT leg will taste like in a sesame seed bun

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 13/04/2014 10:17

Ooh scathing.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 13/04/2014 10:17

I meant OP of course

weneedtotalkaboutshriver · 13/04/2014 10:19

I swear McDonalds start these threads, the outcome is always the same. We all go

HoneyDragon you are one wise perceptive [wo]man. Are you sure you're not me?? Grin

Tinkerball · 13/04/2014 10:19

Judge me, we self cater on holiday in France in a cottage every year and McDs is the only restaraunt we have ate out in, guaranteed to get at least something I know we will all eat plus the bonus if free wifi!

velvetspoon · 13/04/2014 10:20

I think it's pretty disgusting to fatshame a young child, and to describe her as looking ridiculous.

As for sniggering at her, that's pretty low.

I didn't think you could sound worse than your OP, I was wrong.

The only time I ever judge children's attire is when it is filthy (not just that day's dirt, but the ingrained stuff) and/or torn, whilst the parent sits there immaculately dressed/made up. Even then I'd just think poor kids, not want to laugh.

HopefulHamster · 13/04/2014 10:20

I can't take anyone seriously when they say it's okay for them to go to McD's because they're thin, but the fat people shouldn't be allowed.

You have no idea how often they go there or why exactly they are that size. How can anyone judge a nine-year-old so harshly on the basis of seeing them eat one meal?

OP, your thread is horrible. Horrible horrible horrible.

And you'll never see it, because you're thin so that gives you justification in your head to judge other people doing THE SAME THING AS YOU!

MrsCakesPremonition · 13/04/2014 10:20

How come the people doing all the McDs judging never say " I was sitting at a picnic table eating my mung bean salad when I noticed the obese, morally corrupt families eating at McDs"? Why are they in McDs themselves, looking and behaving exactly like the rest if the customers? Or do they have some special halo that lets everyone know that they are special and not really that sort of person despite the weight of evidence.

HoneyDragonDoesNotGiveAShit · 13/04/2014 10:21

I think its a hive mind, you start to cynical Shriver Grin, it's the only answer for monthly McDonalds threads.

AmberLeaf · 13/04/2014 10:21

I really fancy a big mac meal now...

McDonalds cut back on how much they salt their chips, but they do still salt them and they also do have salt packets. They have a 'condiment' station, with sauce dispensers, salt packets, sugar, straws and paper napkins etc.

LEMmingaround · 13/04/2014 10:22

Its ok OP, you don't have to rush, MdD's don't stop serving breakfast until 11.30 on a sunday, you can still get your mcmuffin and judgy coffee on the side.

The milkshakes are made with lard

HoneyDragonDoesNotGiveAShit · 13/04/2014 10:22

BurgerCat

It's loose actually and it's POLYESTER, POLYESTER!

RTFT, FFS.

Meh.

itsbetterthanabox · 13/04/2014 10:22

Op aren't you soooo lucky that your child can eat crap and stay thin, not everyone does. Thin doesn't mean healthy, how many times..
Don't judge people on seeing them once! You don't know their lives or anything about their children. You are not those children's doctor so you have neither the knowledge, skill or reason to comment on the their health.

FreudiansSlipper · 13/04/2014 10:23

why use crap but delicious food ds a treat

Forgettable · 13/04/2014 10:23

You namechanged to be judgy because you can't in RL, but this is not RL
Confused
Anyhoo, have a nice day y'all

MrsCakesPremonition · 13/04/2014 10:23

Sometimes they have mini papercups which you can fill with your choice of tomato or BBQ sauce, it is the best bit of a McDs visit.

weneedtotalkaboutshriver · 13/04/2014 10:23

You're not wrong Honey.

However after I posted I saw your post about your DH going out to get salad for tea, so you're definitely not me!!!

FreudiansSlipper · 13/04/2014 10:24

weneedtotalkaboutshriver · 13/04/2014 10:25

Look im going to admit I do look at families and think they are are overweight and hope they are doing something about it...especially if the parents are slim and the child is obviously overweight.

I also see other families (regularly) give their children sweets and other unhealthy snacks quite a lot - school pick up for example. Their kids are not fat but is doesn't make me think they are ok or healthier.

Thething is with 'fat' it is visible but poorly nourished slimmer people are not as visible. Plus the media images and health campaigns do tend towards slim versus fat which skews our view.

Anyone who says they dont judge people off appearances is lying it is an in built instinct designed to be used to protect ourselves ....though in post modern society is much more complex. But this is key once you h ave judged someone on appearances it is the opinion, actions etc that say more.

I used to stand in clique, they were very judgey about how people looked in the playground...they didnt speak to the people who didnt 'look' tidy enough for them...or maybe they were just jealous and intimidated. I agreed with some of the comments they made e.g. nice coat but boots no (mild e.g.) but it didnt stop me speaking to the person. I didnt write off the person because of their choices.
