I am shocked at how many otherwise healthy people are suffering from terrible respiratory ailments in London and surrounding areas at the moment. WTAF is going on?

The air where I live is lovely. But then again I don't live in the overcrowded rat cage that is London.

Pleasejustgo · 11/04/2014 20:18

Urban sprawl, Bruha, urban sprawl. Just you wait, it will get you too. Wink

Paris had same smog as London and Paris stopped half cars coming in, gave free public transport, on those days, London was as bad or worse and we did,

nothing

bumbumsmummy · 11/04/2014 20:44

Sahara Dust ?

LBOCS · 11/04/2014 20:46

I thought it was all because of the Saharan dust?

softlysoftly · 11/04/2014 20:48

I live in the 'overcrowded rat cage that is London'.

Can't say have noticed anything to be honest.

Katy1368 · 11/04/2014 21:57

I haven't noticed any difference this week, speaking as a rat in the rat cage.

specialsubject · 11/04/2014 21:59

seems cleaner now than when I lived there 20 years ago.

wouldn't go back to live, though!

AmberLeaf · 11/04/2014 21:59

Me neither.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 11/04/2014 22:00

I noticed years ago when I last visited London so it isn't a new thing. I lived in a town so not exactly urban although am now, by the sea. I was blowing black gunk out of my nose daily whilst in London.

We have to go back in September for a wedding but luckily it's on outskirts.

hoobypickypicky · 11/04/2014 22:03

I visit London regularly (I'm a native rat from the rat-cage) from my country home. I don't get the claims about tasting the toxicity in the air etc etc etc. I go, I enjoy my time there, I come back to the countryside. My tastebuds, nose and eyes remain unaffected until the farmers start shit spreading around my village.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 11/04/2014 22:04

Maybe all you rats become immune Wink

Artandco · 11/04/2014 22:04

I live in london. Never had black snot in my life. And the air seemed fine today. Only 2 days last week it was iffy and that was the only time in years I had noticed

breatheslowly · 11/04/2014 22:28

I remember black snot from days spent in London in the 90s. I think the air quality has improved a a result of things like the congestion charge and hybrid busses. We were in London recently and didn't get black snot.

NearTheWindymill · 11/04/2014 22:34

Haven't noticed.

Pleasejustgo · 11/04/2014 22:44

I'm a sensitive little thing

gasps and reaches for new air filter for purifier
