To be dreading the onset of summer fruit season?

Because it's met with a chorus of people who make a point of heavily stating their preference for raspberries over strawberries in a manner that suggests they are the only ones who can tell the different?

Or has sleep deprivation finally finished off any tolerance whatsoever?

I can't say it is an issue I have ever had

I prefer strawberries though.

Methe · 05/04/2014 18:31

Hmm, it is a hard choice but I think the raspberries have it.. Just.

notapizzaeater · 05/04/2014 18:32

Sorry but peaches beat them all

Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2014 18:33

I am ok with the onset of the summer fruit season personally. We have an excellent PYO place.

I wouldn't worry too much.

Sirzy · 05/04/2014 18:34

Our local pyo had closed Sad

TalkieToaster · 05/04/2014 18:34

I have never had a nice peach. They've always been too ripe or underripe and I hate the feeling of the skin.

I think I'm in the raspberry camp, just. I am very particular about them and I can't tolerate even slightly squishy ones. I also scrutinise each one for mould.

Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2014 18:35

Sad Sirzy.

Forgettable · 05/04/2014 18:35

Pffft to strawberries and raspberries

Bring on the gooseberries, I say

Normalisavariantofcrazy · 05/04/2014 18:35

I just love British fruit, don't care what it is, just I know we grow some of the best fruit in the world and I love it fresh and seasonal

Smartiepants79 · 05/04/2014 18:36

Raspberries and nectarines rule!
Too many supermarket strawberries taste of nothing. It puts me off.

ThatBloodyWoman · 05/04/2014 18:36

I fucking love raspberries.
Can't afford the buggers though.

Smartiepants79 · 05/04/2014 18:36

Oh, and peaches are all fuzzy which is just wrong.

Sirzy · 05/04/2014 18:36

Mmm gooseberry crumble.

Nomama · 05/04/2014 18:37

Anything local, but I am a raspberry fiend too, sorry.

I hate supermarket fruit, it is rarely really edible.

Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2014 18:37

Gooseberries-I just can't do them. My Mum used to make gooseberry crumble and i always hated it.

I love going to the PYO. Even DS1 (14) came with us last year and he hates us. Grin He every nearly enjoyed himself.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 05/04/2014 18:37

That's very true Normal

Nectarines over peaches here personally.
And either strawbs or rasps.

Oh dear. I know I was BU
And slightly unhinged. Blush

Now Rhubarb crumble I like.

Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2014 18:39

If you want to be unhinged about something AIBU on Mumsnet is the place Amanda.

Do you feel better getting it off your chest?

Normalisavariantofcrazy · 05/04/2014 18:39

I'll top that with rhubarb crumble ice cream

Sirzy · 05/04/2014 18:39

The power of PYO sparkling amazing places

This thread now has me craving fruit which won't be in season for a few months.

ShadowFall · 05/04/2014 18:40

Both are good.

Failing to see the issue with people having a preference.

phantomnamechanger · 05/04/2014 18:40

I want a gooseberry crumble now, yum yum

granddad used to grow them and we would pick and eat them even if they were really really sour.

Smartiepants79 · 05/04/2014 18:41

Yep, my dad grows raspberries. Think my 3yr old ate them all.
It's a wonder she's wasn't ill!

Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2014 18:41

I tend to have Strawbs because the DC like them.

I know Sirzy, i wonder if he will come again this year? [dein]
