How hard. You don't say "Carsh" instead of crash, or "Cerrp" instead of creep. Why do people insist on saying "Ceration/curative/curator" instead of creation/tive/tor?

My DH says acreately instead of accurately and pacific instead of specific. The irony of not pronouncing these specific words accurately is lost on him. Or would be, if I didn't persistently point it out. I feel your pain.

I agree. Don't get me started on those (usually fellow southerners) who seem totally unable to say the words create/creative/created etc. They seem to think that you 'crate' something or it is 'crated' and miss out the 'e'. Just listen to anything Nick Clegg says - he's a prime offender.

I've not heard those, but I have heard "pitcher" instead of "picture," (super common around here), and "libarry," instead of "library."

No idea, I didn't know him as a child.

Pitcher and libarry don't bother me they must be from my home accent. Actually curate is common in my home accent too so not sure why that bugs me.

GAAAAH and instead of an is even worse. I even used to know someone online who would painstakingly put a little apostrophe after every time she typed an, as in "I was eating an' apple" as though she thought it should really be and

Oh, I was going to discount ibrufin for old folk on the premise that it used to be called brufen. But if he insists he said it right when corrected, that is rage inducing

I hate adults using terms like "lickle" and "hospickle". Invariably they're perfectly capable of saying "It'll", so it's not a speech defect.

DH says Ibufren as well and MIL insists it is ibubrufen. I hate it, drives me mad.

DH does a Sudoku puzzle in the paper each weekend and without fail says he's going to do the sudookoo, or sukoodoo or something, anything other than the correct name, while I get more and more wound up

Oh yeah and my grandma says poh-dee-at-ry instead of poh-die-at-ry. Thats irritating!!

I worked with a woman who didn't know that "idea" and "ideal" were two different words. A lot of people here use "ideal" when they mean "idea."

I worked with someone who pronounced vehicle vehurcle. Unfortunately, vehicle was a word that came up quite regularly in our line of work.

Oh and torlet instead of toilet is one from where I'm from.
