Ok ok I know it's a good cause. I'm pissed off because

  1. no one has nominated me thus making me realise I don't have any decent female friends, and

  2. these selfies don't do any one any favours, aesthetically speaking, I know that's the point, but it makes me recoil a bit when all these gormless shots appear on my fb news feed.

I'll happily donate but please can this be over now......Hmm

I've been nominated and ignored it, it's that bad form??

CuriosityCola · 21/03/2014 19:53

Yamyoid, nearly all of mine have posted their selfie along side their text message reply from the chosen charity.

Curiosity Grin yes, all the pics on my feed look like snaps you might have taken when you're banged up in the nic, for some kind of misdemeanour.

You don't have to be nominated to donate money! Just do it.

But, if you do post a selfie, please post beside it a screen shot of the donation receipt you have made. Posting a selfie without making a donation is pointless and insulting to people with cancer.

Sorry to rant. Please donate what you can, if you can! :)

Canny, no I would do the same, if someone actually cared enough to nominate me.

But why is that such a surprise to you Worra?? Did you really expect women to suddenly not look beautiful because they've removed their makeup? ! I find this attitude of 'wow - you don't look hideous whwn showing your ACTUAL face!' very odd and very sad.

CuriosityCola · 21/03/2014 20:04

The best one I have seen have had the 'selfie' next to the receipt. The selfie was a picture of a wee monsters face. Grin

domoarigato · 21/03/2014 20:06

I wasn't nominated, I just did it. My fils just been diagnosed u see.

CuriosityCola · 21/03/2014 20:08

Excuse the typos. I blame the wine.

bordellosboheme · 21/03/2014 20:12

I didn't know people still wore lots of make up these days. I thought it had gone out of fashion (out of touch)

I'm more fed up with all the threads about them - even though I did make one a few days ago Wink

IwinIwin · 21/03/2014 20:47

Well I was tagged and posted a 'warnings' image instead about breast cancer. I got 1 like, from a friend who did the same and everyone else ignored it while the no make up ones got 20 odd likes and 'you're so braves'.

I don't want likes but I find it odd that all the posts I've seen with warning signs or actual information (which actually have information that's important) get little response or likes while those with no makeup get a lot of likes just because they have no make up on. And the 'brave'? Fuck off, it's not brave and I'm the most insecure person going without makeup. I think the selfies thing is great since the charities have started cashing in, all on my fb have donated but those on my friend at work...awful, no mention of cancer donations at all just fishing for compliments. One person even bitched in her own comments 'only 10 likes, guess I am really a minger then'- yeah because she's doing it for cancer research, care or awareness.

cheeseandfickle · 21/03/2014 20:53

I didn't get nominated either.

Golferman · 21/03/2014 20:58

Actually I think most of my female friends on FB look really lovely without make up.

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2014 20:58

But you're the one using the emotive language like 'freak show' and 'hideous'.

I genuinely don't know anyone who has spoken or even thought like that.

If anything, they've simply been complimentary on the photos with and without make-up.

WorraLiberty · 21/03/2014 20:59

And no I didn't expect them to 'suddenly not look beautiful'.

They just look different and that's the whole point of it.

bordellosboheme · 21/03/2014 21:58

Yep that's it. All my friends nominated each other. Bypassed me. Fuckers

daimbardiva · 22/03/2014 19:01

I actually think it's nice as it means lots of my friends are posting photos of themselves when more often they're behind the camera and it's their families we see. I started off being on my high horse about no make up as it's no big deal to me...then realised that hair colour'smy make up.

Also it's raised loads of money and hopefully awareness - can only be good.

on the other hand...this cock on sock thing. I actually feel a bit offended at having seen someone I was friends with at uni effectively naked :/

bordellosboheme · 23/03/2014 08:15

Oh for fucks sake, 'friends' have started posting naked photos now (just showing chest up). Beam me up Scott's. Am I still literally invisible?

I've been nominated but I don't wear make up anyway? Ever? so what would be the point?

Smartiepants79 · 23/03/2014 09:32

Do not get why no makeup = being brave!
I'm about the only one off my friends that hasn't posted one. I've been nominated twice but just resent being made to feel like I should jump on the bandwagon.
I've donated but....

Smartiepants79 · 23/03/2014 09:33

I also rarely wear any makeup anyway.
