I'm about to namechange anyway so I don't care about the flaming I'm about to get.

I have massive boobs and oversupply so breastfeeding discreetly is difficult. I also use a sling so I get very warm with DS's body against mine. If I wear a vest top underneath my normal top I overheat. It it really so bad to not give a shit who sees what while I'm breastfeeding? It's not like I'm waving my boobs about, just lifting my top to feed my baby but that might mean a flash of nipple now and again.

I have normalish size boobs but very messy eater dc's! I dont give a shit either, I was feeding in a cafe at a children's farm the other day an got a funny look cos I didn't "tie myself in knots". We had just been looking at lambs and kids suckling from their mothers-the irony wasn't lost on me. It's their issue not yours. Your sustaining a human being, they're gawping at boobs-who's the one being rude??!

Not unreasonable at all. Being discrete while feeding is for your benefit only. If you don't mind others seeing then that is fine :)

If attempted to be really discrete and make sure nipple was covered by a muslin at all times, it was such a faff and just draw more attention than a quick "out and baby on"

much better to just do what is easiest for you - if you have to get into ludicrous positions, or carry massive shawls etc to cover up, you'll make yourself and baby uncomfortable anyway, which is hardly conducive to successful feeding.

Sounds fine to me. I think as long as its not 'let it all hang out' no-one can really have a problem. I was in a cafe the other day and a Mum nearby was struggling to get a breastfeeding cover in place, get the baby under it etc. was much more of a drama than if she'd just shoved her top up and popped the baby on. Always worked for me.

Yanbu, I will happily feed dd (2) anywhere and everywhere, although she doesn't tend to feed when we are out now through her own choice.

I always think to myself that if someone doesn't like it then they should be the ones to move or look away. Bf is what nature intended for our breasts and that is what I shall use them for

Now, what annoys me is the people who feel the need to tell me how great my boobs used to look and that they no longer do . Thanks for that, it really helps!

NU at all. I don't whip my boobs out but I also don't try to hide away under a blanket or anything. No one can see anything anyway. People don't routinely stare at a woman's chest at any other time, they don't have to look when she is feeding.

Yanbu. I go for top down, which shows more boob (baby hates cloth in eyes/face & I occasionally get a raised eyebrow. I have no intention of changing how I do it.

One of the many things I hate about the new fashion for BF covers is that my DC, who were all BF, now are older and don't see any babies being BF. So how can it be normalised for them if it is invisible ? My older DC did see his younger sibs BF for years but I think they've all forgotten. And my youngest has no younger sibs to see BFing.

So when we go out if I see someone BF I'm delighted, so carry on! Your baby is benefiting, sod anyone else.

I found doing just what you describe so much less attention-grabbing than rooting around for a muslin, draping it over me, dropping it on the floor then starting all over again. So I probably flashed a few unexpecting people, but I'm a clumsy fool with the hide of a rhino so never noticed one funny glance in my direction.

No way! I figure as long as no one is getting milk in their eye, then you can feed however works for you. I've got a very distractible and squirmy baby, so I'm pretty sure that even with the best nursing tops on, the world and its dog has seen my nipples. Nobody has ever seemed to care though.

Just go for it. My baps were a 38k after dd's births. I even bf with my norks out in front of the priest in the church. They hated being covered up with a mussy or bf wrap.
