Really lovely woman, very professional in all other ways but I just kept thinking about how dirty her hair must be and what might be falling out of it as she leant over my face!

Am I turning into a moaning old biddy or do you agree?

I dont see the problem.

lionheart · 07/03/2014 18:43

Why should her hair be dirty or fall out exactly?

I think you may be turning biddy.

HuntingforBunting · 07/03/2014 18:44

Oh dear. Dreads are very clean ime.

Cleartheclutter · 07/03/2014 18:44

Was her hair dirty or are you assuming?

strongandlong · 07/03/2014 18:44

Why would her hair be dirty?

NadiaWadia · 07/03/2014 18:44

I wouldn't bother me. If someone wants their hair like that, fine. In fact it would be quite a refreshing change as most dentists seems to be quite conventional people. I wouldn't see it as unprofessional, why?

msrisotto · 07/03/2014 18:44

Moaning old biddy.

MrsCakesPremonition · 07/03/2014 18:45

Presumably she ties them back, like any dentist with longer hair? They aren't intrinsically dirty are they?

AnyFucker · 07/03/2014 18:45

huh ?

purplecoyote · 07/03/2014 18:45

I used to have dreadlocks, for two years? They were clean, I washed them with an organic rinse I made :) it's a myth that dreadlocks are always dirty - good for her, they can be high maintenance!

gremlindolphin · 07/03/2014 18:45

But to get dreads really going you don't wash them do you?

YABU. How she choses to keep her hair is none of your business. Well, I guess it is your business in that it's your money so you can chose to go elsewhere.

As long as she is hygienic, and follows the correct hygiene procedures, then there is not problem. Unless - she does not use her hair to wipe spit from your face does she? Shock in which, I change my mind. She is unreasonable, not you.

scarletforya · 07/03/2014 18:46

As long as they're clean I don't see any problem.

Nirvana69 · 07/03/2014 18:47

What do you think is gonna fall out?

Hair is self cleaning after so long.

Moaning old biddy, sorry.

Pollyputthekettle · 07/03/2014 18:47

How odd.

Funny what some people get in a tizz about.

gremlindolphin · 07/03/2014 18:48

Alright, I am feeling better!

I have known some very scummy dreadlocked people (mainly male!) in my time but she did look good and if you say you can wash them then I too will go along with the fact that she is cool to be unconventional in a conventional career!

Weird thread. Would never occur to me to be bothered in the slightest. Are you the dentist?

spottysocksandshoes · 07/03/2014 18:50

YABU.

Why would a certain hairstyle affect who a person is? Confused Ridiculous.

Dreadlocks are not dirty. You wash them as you would wash your own hair.

OneUp · 07/03/2014 18:51

You do wash dreadlocks even when you're first forming them:

Remember, locks that use this method (and any other!) still need to be kept washed and clean. See "Can I wash my dreadlocks?" below! You will likely find that sections try to join or merge, so as well as washing you may need to "rip" these sections. See "How do I stop my dreads from joining together?" under Along The Dreadlock Journey below.

givemeaclue · 07/03/2014 18:55

Dreadlocks are also an integral part of the Rastafarian religion so to ban dentists from having them would be discrimination.you are in danger of being seen as c racist I would get ugh, thread deleted.

DroothyNeebor · 07/03/2014 18:57

My eldest DD has dreadlocks, she washes her hair every time she showers.

FFS. Want to make a comment on what she wears and eats as well? What a ridiculous thing to say.
