Really lovely woman, very professional in all other ways but I just kept thinking about how dirty her hair must be and what might be falling out of it as she leant over my face!

Am I turning into a moaning old biddy or do you agree?

Revolting peasant - you are now making assumptions about my background!

The question was merely about the process of having hair in dreads and the cleanliness. Her race, religion or anything else was inconsequential and I had already stated that she was very professional in her chosen profession which was the main issue at the time.

Really OP? Moaning old biddy definately.

waltermittymissus · 07/03/2014 20:25

It's grossly unfair to accuse the OP of racism based on this thread.

OP admitted she was being unreasonable in her last but one post, very pleasantly.
Why are people still having a go at her?
Does no one RTFT any more?

EllaFitzgerald · 07/03/2014 20:30

Personally, the only thing I worry about my dentist having is a steady hand and the relevant dental qualifications.

MyPrettyToes · 07/03/2014 20:30

Result! An is ignoramus educated.

MyPrettyToes · 07/03/2014 20:31

what? the is has moved.

gremlindolphin · 07/03/2014 20:31

I actually like dreadlocks! No racism behind this, for what its worth dentist is white (and stunning!). I say it again, my query was re:cleanliness and I have been put right re: that, thank you.

Mrs d. When I think of dreadlocks I tend to think of hooray Henry trust fund types on their gap year. Which by and large tend to be white.

Me too!

Yabu and a bit odd.

MyPrettyToes · 07/03/2014 20:43

I used to wear braided hairstyles. The number of people who would ask me if they smelt was phenomenal. They were all white. I can see why people would suspect racism, but I honestly think people like the op are just ill informed and slightly unpleasant (because WHY on earth would it matter what hairstyle a dentist has if she was lovely and stunning and good at her job)

RevoltingPeasant · 07/03/2014 20:48

Op - fwiw I assumed you and the dentist were white as I think if she is was black you would have been more careful in the wording. Sorry if I assumed wrong about you.

No, I know white people can have dreads - but, what MrsDV said, above.

Anyhow my main point was good on you for actually admitting you had changed your thinking. It is not often on AIBU.....
