If you saw a picture of Frida Kahlo, you would recognise this person? Or AIBU?

I had no idea - what was your point. I don't get why this was in AIBU?

I knew the name, and that she was an artist because she's mentioned in a Jacqueline Wilson book. That's about all I knew.

Yes, did Penelope Cruz play her in a film several years back?

I love her eyebrows worraliberty I'm making no judgement on people who don't know btw. I just thought most people knew her because the film was quite big. Its more of a poll than an AIBU. I meant no offence.

I know who she is. We were given ART books as a leavig present from Primary school, read it cover to cover and it sparked an interest in art.

Thanks Mrs.H, from someone in the class of 99 at MR Grin

DH doesn't know who she is.

Not a clue. But then I have no interest whatsoever in art.

I knew her name and that she is an artist, but had no clue what she looked like.

I have no idea.
Don't recognise the name and don't recognise the picture.
Difficult to say if I'm typical of "most people" or not, so can't say if YABU or not.

No idea who she is but I'm not that intested in films and am not well read in the art world.

The Art Book really cheap, small snippets about the artists, great guide if you know naff all about art but it interests you.

People's ignorance (and indifference!!!) of most things and shockingly poor general knowledge in this country never ceases to take me by surprise.

Less hairdressing studies and more humanities!

Less worshipping at the altar of vacuous celebrity culture!

Less rampant consumerism!

But I know it is pointless :)

Yes I know who she is.

Nigella wasn't Kahlo born in Mexico City?

I do, but that's because I've had a bit of a crush on her and her work since I was in my 20's. Think I originally read a piece on her in one of the Sunday magazines. I've got a picture of her in my hall - Kew Gardens had a Mexican Art/Día de Muertos exhibition a few years ago and she was featured on one of the altars. I took far too many photos and have them up to freak out small children and my Mother Grin
