If you saw a picture of Frida Kahlo, you would recognise this person? Or AIBU?

I had no idea - what was your point. I don't get why this was in AIBU?

WorraLiberty · 07/03/2014 16:09

I think her eyebrows look scary

No idea

PissesGlitter · 07/03/2014 16:11

She could be doing with a waxing strip too

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/03/2014 16:11

No clue at all.

IneedAwittierNickname · 07/03/2014 16:11

I knew the name, and that she was an artist because she's mentioned in a Jacqueline Wilson book. That's about all I knew.

Muminneed60 · 07/03/2014 16:11

Yes, did Penelope Cruz play her in a film several years back?

morefalafel · 07/03/2014 16:11

I love her eyebrows worraliberty I'm making no judgement on people who don't know btw. I just thought most people knew her because the film was quite big. Its more of a poll than an AIBU. I meant no offence.

Yup. Know of her. Admire her work.

BobaFetaCheese · 07/03/2014 16:12

I know who she is. We were given ART books as a leavig present from Primary school, read it cover to cover and it sparked an interest in art.

Thanks Mrs.H, from someone in the class of 99 at MR Grin

DH doesn't know who she is.

Muminneed60 · 07/03/2014 16:13

Just seen Ohmy's post. It was Selma Hyek Blush

ohmymimi · 07/03/2014 16:13

Sorry, should be Salma Hayek - automiscorrect needs to brush up on it's Hollywood knowledge.

IglooisnowinSheffield · 07/03/2014 16:14

Was she in dodgeball

cultured, moi?

gleegeek · 07/03/2014 16:14

Know the name, artist, recognise photo but not much more I'm afraid...

CinnabarRed · 07/03/2014 16:14

Not a clue. But then I have no interest whatsoever in art.

KatnipEvergreen · 07/03/2014 16:16

I knew her name and that she is an artist, but had no clue what she looked like.

BackforGood · 07/03/2014 16:16

I have no idea.
Don't recognise the name and don't recognise the picture.
Difficult to say if I'm typical of "most people" or not, so can't say if YABU or not.

Iwantacampervan · 07/03/2014 16:16

No idea who she is but I'm not that intested in films and am not well read in the art world.

BobaFetaCheese · 07/03/2014 16:16

The Art Book really cheap, small snippets about the artists, great guide if you know naff all about art but it interests you.

MichaelFinnigan · 07/03/2014 16:17

Yes but I am v clever and cultured

MarianneM · 07/03/2014 16:20

People's ignorance (and indifference!!!) of most things and shockingly poor general knowledge in this country never ceases to take me by surprise.

Less hairdressing studies and more humanities!

Less worshipping at the altar of vacuous celebrity culture!

Less rampant consumerism!

But I know it is pointless :)

Alisvolatpropiis · 07/03/2014 16:21

Yes I know who she is.

Nigella wasn't Kahlo born in Mexico City?

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 07/03/2014 16:24

I do, but that's because I've had a bit of a crush on her and her work since I was in my 20's. Think I originally read a piece on her in one of the Sunday magazines. I've got a picture of her in my hall - Kew Gardens had a Mexican Art/Día de Muertos exhibition a few years ago and she was featured on one of the altars. I took far too many photos and have them up to freak out small children and my Mother Grin
