I'm one of those who had 'problem drinking' creep up on me. It lead me into some quite destructive behaviour, and also made me pretty fat. There's a fuck of a lot of empty calories in wine, never mind the units.

I understand why some posters might think me sanctimonious, but I'm only saying that binge drinking made my life (and my family's lives) very unpleasant for a while, and so I hate to see others potentially heading down the same road.

A few posters have boasted about feeling fine the day after bingeing on two or three bottles of wine. I don't think that's normal. I'd be asking myself why my tolerance seemed to be so much higher than other people's.

BrokenToeOuch · 02/03/2014 16:14

Can I just pipe and and say that although OP May have opened the third bottle, we have no idea how much of it she drank, could well have just been the one glass. So perhaps just over 2 rather than 3?

bishbashboosh · 02/03/2014 16:18

Are you alive op??

Rather than being sanctimonious you're making me feel better about the amount I drink Grin

fatlazymummy · 02/03/2014 16:21

I've never had 7.5 proof wine. Nowadays a lot of wine is much stronger - 14.5 isn't uncommon for red. That's nearly twice as strong. It's almost as strong as sherry and other fortified wine. No one would even think of knocking back3 bottles of sherry in an evening.
So yes, if you post a question asking 'should I open the 3rd bottle' then a lot of people are going to take that seriously. Personally I don't care if other people find that sanctimonious.

bodybooboo · 02/03/2014 16:22

I can easily do a bottle but that's enough then. 3 to yourself is ridiculous. you will feel like shit.

insancerre · 02/03/2014 17:03

its not sanctimonious to say that 3 bottles of wine is too much alcohol for one person to drink
it's just the truth
that much wine is not normal

Ledare · 02/03/2014 17:23

OP? I've had more than two before. Not three but more than two.

Hope you are okay.

And please let us know how the painting looks in the cold light of day.

Even if she'd forgotten starting this thread, a cursory glance at "threads I'm on" would have reminded her Grin

HadABadDay2014 · 02/03/2014 22:55

I could, but like today feel like shit.

I'm a binge drinker though and have no self control when I start drinking.

Chloerose75 · 03/03/2014 01:03

Hope the OP is ok. I do think that is an obscene amount of alcohol.

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/03/2014 01:13

This thread was op's first and only.

Beastofburden · 03/03/2014 06:58

Did anyone actually believe this thread? You wouldn't be that coherent after that much wine.

curiousgeorgie · 03/03/2014 10:48

But actually, it was a bit boring. Every reply was the same, every OP post was the same and there was nothing to argue with.

If it was fake, what was the point? Hardly entertaining to read 'don't open the bottle' 100 times...

CinnabarRed · 03/03/2014 10:52

My alcoholic relative managed to drive a coach (for a living) on 2 bottles of vodka each day.

SouthernComforts · 03/03/2014 11:09

Fgs just read the whole thread and it was a troll.

As an aside, I know someone who is currently on 10 bottles of full strength wine a day. Starting at 8am with a 3l bottle of cider then doing a bottle an hour until he either passes out or calls an ambulance. I honestly thought he'd be dead by now Sad. Its incredible how much the body can take.

Ange1104 · 03/03/2014 12:13

woke up with pretty terrible hangover but drank plently of water before bed so could have been worst!

My little one woke up with chicken pox though, got lotion and antihistamine from chemist! any tips???

decorating looks fine phew!!

This is a very odd thread. It's like you can't read everyone else's posts.

Anyway...

Hiphopopotamus · 03/03/2014 15:10

For people saying that you wouldn't be coherent after three bottles...

I am an alcoholic in recovery. When I was drinking I could drink three bottles of wine and get up for work the next morning. I could also have phone conversations, and send emails that made perfect sense after drinking that amount. God knows how. It can be done. I do worry about anyone with that sort of tolerance though, but I appreciate that I come at this kind of topic with a very biased view!
