Rebekah Brooks Trial

I'm no fan of Rebekah Brooks but having watched the news reporting from court today I'm finding myself feeling incredibly sorry for her.

Apparently today she was questioned about her fertility issues. I mean what the hell does that have to do with phone hacking? According to the report I watched she was asked about her problems conceiving with Ross Kemp which prompted her to ask for a break in proceedings and she left the room in tears. Later she was questioned about the surrogacy that she and her current husband had gone through to get their daughter.

Seriously, how is that relevant/appropriate?! If she was a man I sincerely doubt she'd have been asked about such a private matter.

OMG I have just had the best (2nd glass of wine) idea! Why not let RB and the snake, sorry I mean Coulson prove their innocence via a Jeremy Kyle lie detector? I would watch that, especially if they don't wash their hair.

Seriously I don't think that these people, (senior tabloid people including the married man and Murdoch) have the same or even remotely similar moral compass as us mere mortals. They think that they are above the law, untouchable and better than us. I hope that this trial is fair and just.

I just can't forget how dignified Milly Doweller's poor parents were, compared to Murdoch's mob. Sad

Vile person. She is trying to use IVF as an excuse somehow. I feel sorry for the Dowlers. She is just pure left wing labour scum whose gravy train has ended and she is trying to squirm out of anything she can.

Milly's parents have been so dignified. And you look at others and.... Murdoch.........scum......just scum

wantsunshine are you joking? Surely you're not saying RB is left wing?

I feel a lot sorrier for Jude Law and Sienna Miller who had to tell about their private lives in court, information that would have stayed private if it wasnt for the hacking.

No way is she left wing!

She's about as left wing as Margaret Thatcher!!

Sorry, how is the 'would a man be asked the same questions' issue be relevant here? - she obviously agreed to them. To me the point is only relevant if brought up by the prosecution. She never gave a fuck about anyone she shafted and, hopefully, will get her just desserts.

Bear in mind that when RB was journo/editor if any well-known woman was going through infertility and IVF hell Rb would have stopped at nothing-well, very little anyway, to get that story and publish. And the feelings of the woman in question be damned.

Where misogynistic contemporary news values are concerned, we live in a world RB enthusiastically helped to make.

squoosh · 21/02/2014 22:53

Nope.

No sympathy whatsoever.

She'd have no qualms about splashing any celebrity's battle with infertility over the front of the The Sun or NoW

Save your sympathy

If she was that concerned about Ross Kemp she probably would not have returned home drunk and beaten. Up as was widely reported at the time. What woman beats up Grant Mitchell and gets away with it.... Hmm

As for feeling soory for her OP? No just no. She has played her part today better than Judi Dench could have done. And when she has so maliciously invaded the privacy of others, for her now to lie about it whilst courting our sympathy for the fact she could become pregnant? Her defence team must be getting paid handsomely and bathing in bleach every night.

There must be worse to come yet if she has scraped the barrel this deep already don't you think?

Why did she beat up Ross? There are lots of rumours about that one...

Interesting they way that we talk about domestic abuse when the perpetrator is a woman

Report
AngelaDaviesHair · 21/02/2014 23:12

She's getting much gentler treatment over her personal issues than she's ever handed out to anyone else. Forcing Gordon and Sarah Brown to announce their newborn son had CF (because she was about to publish) when they'd only just found out springs to mind as a particularly egregious example of her callousness, but there is an inexhaustible supply of them.

Report
loveroflife · 21/02/2014 23:14

just because she sucks Tony's arse has not a shred of connection with her being left wing - it was a mutually beneficial partnership - she had him eating our of her hand (POWER) and he got the Sun's readership to (hopefully) vote for him at the next g.e through manipulating them in shitty editorials that the Sun were backing him so should the white van driver.

She's as right wing as they come and just luuurrrvvees Cameron and the Chipping Norton set soirees...
